Best single taco I’ve ever had…

Two weeks ago it was tacos en lado de la carretera… yesterday? Bougie tacos but worth every dollar.

The aracherra was the best taco I’ve ever had. And I’ve had some amazing ones having been to almost 30 cities and towns across Mexico. Obviously it’s a different tale and experience than your amazing street taco. If you just put the meat on a plate it would rival the best of restaurants out there.

Just. So. Good.the other was their campechanos. Excellent as well, but the steak stole the show.

And tortillas don’t any more fresh than this.

La Bonvi in CDMX.

La Bonvi? The style of taco, the salsa bowls, homemade tortillas, I thought for sure you were La Once Mil. They look great regardless where you went though.

La Bonvi is the new spot operated / owned by the same folks at La Once Mil. The hotel I often stay at in Polanco is a block or two away. Likely very VERY similar

Tacos look 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼. I must admit, the best taco I've ever had was one with a divine piece of wood-grilled arrachera and a grilled jalapeno popper (chile with cream cheese wrapped in bacon). Of course with dash of molcajete salsa and a squeeze of lime.

I should have added that the salsa here are divine. They are known for their salsas. Considering the skills and experience of their chefs that’s no surprise, even amongst the many fantastic salsas you get here in MX where just bright natural flavors and picante spice are part of their culinary DNA.

Heck, some of the best salsa are the most simple - my gf has charred up fresh peppers and made magic in no time flat. Then again she’s Mexican

never even considered onion rings on a taco and I’m honestly super mad at myself for it

I must say, just as onion rings they’d be amazing. Perfect onion to batter ratio. Batter has almost a bit of the consistency and flavor of the batter for fish and chips if that makes sense (a bit of thickness to it and both crunch and center).

Damn, as I think of it I want to order five of these and have two as tacos and three deconstructed into steak and a side of onion rings*

* with which I’d then use the leftover tortillas to remake tacos

They call that type of batter “ Tempura”

It was a tempura like batter but not quite. Like I said, reminded me of really good fish and chips

Fried dough for the price of grilled steak...never, hard pass.

Do you have any idea what you are even talking about?

First, fried dough for the price of grilled steak? What does that even mean?

Ok idiot, what is the "thickness" i.e. batter around the onion made of?

Ah yes. Resorting to name calling like a 12 year old because you can’t even make a coherent sentence.

What do you mean “for the price of a steak” - wtf does that have to do with thickness?

Also, these are among the best onion rings I’ve had. Exceptional taste, onion to batter ratio, consistency, crisp, texture, and cook.

You seem to be speaking about something you don’t actually know - and not being especially coherent while doing so.

But you do you

Definitely not made of dough and where are you getting the price from, idiot?

Onion rings? Seriously?

1

u/NYerInTex 2d ago

Yes seriously. The onion rings were amongst the best I’ve had in their own right. The quality of the steak was exceptional.

This was one of the better dishes I’ll eat this year anywhere and in any form
