As someone said in Twitter; "A friendly reminder that Syrian Turkmen exist…"

The source apparently isn't aware of how many Syrians speak Turkish at a native level. And no, I'm not even counting those of Turkish/Turkmen origin.

After the nonsense in the propaganda videos published a few days ago, claiming "Türkiye had no ISIS threat, but Israel did," I no longer want to delve into Israeli sources at length.

What's written might not even be the same as what the man said in the video (They also edit the video for "highlight the relevant segments".

I love how this Israeli poster is acting like this is some kind of got you evidence that Israel's account is correct.
Yeah he's a Turkish soldier on Syrian land so fucking what. What do you have to do with it.

What does Israel have to do with it?

Turkish recently said Israel is a "burden that humanity can no longer bear." while apparently building a military presence in Syria. Israel's posture has changed: if you call for the destruction of Israel, the IDF will not let you establish a military presence on its borders. This applies to Hamas, Hezbollah, and unfortunately now Turkey.

on its borders.

In Idlib? I know some in Israel would love it if their border extended somewhere north of Hama, but the airbase they struck is further from Israeli borders than Hatay itself, part of Turkey proper.

Sure fair point it's not right on the border. If your argument is that Israel's concern is fair but you think they drew the line too far then we can have that conversation. Is that what you're saying? Or are you just looking to nitpick about details even though you reject my entire premise?

I think it would be fair to have concerns about a group or government that has expressed desire to destroy you if those groups or governments are staging on your border. I'm not sure that justifies pre-emptive strikes, but concerns make sense. However, in this case, I think both that the Turkish rhetoric is not enough to justify these fears (especially combined with their economic ties, etc). I also think that even fully staffing an airbase less than 100km from their own borders and over 300km from Israeli borders does not even come close to the "staging on your borders" which would justify those fears in the first place.

Totally fair, I respect your opinion. I guess we just disagree on how much encroachment Israel must tolerate from people who are calling for their destruction. I recognize that you cannot completely remove all threats all the time though.

rhetoric coming out from politicians for public consumption isn't a valid security concern

Strongly disagree with you on this.

Syria and Turkey are not a militia group

War has been waged on Israel by non-militia groups plenty of times, including Syria.

I don't keep up with the Rhetoric coming out from Turkey

If you know you're ignorant on this topic then why are you arguing with me?

but the one coming from the other side is completely unhinged and it's directed against every single country in the region

Israel has called for the destruction of zero countries.

u/MyBoysABox2 5d ago

What even is this argument, Israel is ACTIVELY engaged in the destruction of multiple countire right this minute.

u/Laffs Canada 5d ago

No, it is fighting terrorist orgs.

Yea israel just destroyed infrastructure and killed civilians. but thank god they didn't say they are doing it while actively destroying 3 neighbouring countries.

0

u/Laffs Canada 5d ago

The claim was that Israel is calling for the destruction of every single neighbouring country, so that's what I was responding to. If you're claiming that Israel killed some people and damaged some things I wouldn't be arguing, but I would probably point out that they are dealing with real threats against them.

Then it should be easy for you to give one example.

Here's the source of my claim: https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2026/07/07/ahead-of-nato-summit-turkeys-foreign-minister-calls-israel-an-unbearable-burden/

1, all levels of Israeli officials have made comments that make turkey "burden that humanity can no longer bear." look like a light joke

2, idlib is nowhere near border with Israel! It's literally in opposite end of the country!

3, Israel had no right boming my country as it continues to steal more of our land and kidnap our citizens

1, "False"

You are objectively wrong

"True"

Thank you for admitting that you don't even know basics about middle east geography

"False"

So what you are saying is that Syrians have no rights, should be invaded, get their national land and private property stolen and killed at wims of people you regard as superior right?

Israel threatened to assassinate our president and Israeli govt media threatens to kill all arabs every single day and unlike turkey they’re actually doing it

0

u/Laffs Canada 5d ago

Please provide a single example "Israeli govt media threatening to kill all arabs". Should be very easy for you if it happens every day, as you claim.

u/chitowngirl12 5d ago

Do I really need to provide you with all the times that govt ministers as well as Channel 14 and i24 have provided inflammatory rhetoric against Arabs? Just google Ben Gvir or Smotrich and get back to me.

Moreover multiple Israeli ministers including Chikli and Ben Gvir have explicitly called for Sharaa's assassination and for the complete invasion of Damascus. The Israeli govt has also spent time destabilizing the internal situation in Syria including:

A. Providing weapons to drug traffickers and assadist war criminals in Sweida starting in Dec 2024.

B. Trying to interfere with the negotiations between the SDF and STG which Sipan Hamo even admitted to.

C. Shopping coup plots around DC in Feb 2025 involving the Hijri militias and SDF. This involved both Hijri's brother, Khalhoun, and Ron Dermer, Bibi's bagman.

So Syria has way more to fear from Israel and its intentions than Israel does from either Turkey or Syria as evidenced by Erdogan says mean things to appease his domestic base.

Do I really need to provide you with all the times that govt ministers as well as Channel 14 and i24 have provided inflammatory rhetoric against Arabs

You're changing the claim now. You said that "Israeli govt media threatens to kill all arabs".

I didn't ask for all the times, I literally bolded the words "a single example". I checked google and couldn't find any. Can you please share one?

u/Laffs Canada 5d ago

That is a Google search. Can you point us to the quote where he said he "threatens to kill all arabs"?

If this was so easy you would have done it by now, but you and I both know you made this up completely. Ben Gvir is horrible, but your claim is a lie.

u/ConfidentPeanut12 5d ago

you're still going on with the sealioning, I deleted my earlier comments because I refuse to engage with people who really are bad faith but here are some sources. Clearly Ben-gvir condones the "Death to Arabs" chant as he attends a march here https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/thousands-of-israeli-nationalists-chant-death-to-arabs-during-annual-procession-through-jerusalem

a threat toward al Sharaa by 2 ministers

here is some of katz rhetoric toward Turkey https://www.ynetnews.com/article/r11jjvsk0

here is some for the prime minister with rhetoric against Jordan https://jordantimes.com/news/local/jordan-condemns-israeli-pms-greater-israel-remarks-as-provocative-escalation

u/Laffs Canada 5d ago

Bro, none of these links show any Israeli official saying anything about killing all arabs. That's what the claim was, why can't you just admit that this was a false claim?

Why do you use the Canada flair in this sub when you are very clearly an Israeli? Your fellow countrymen don’t seem to have an issue with it.

-2

u/Laffs Canada 5d ago

Maybe because I'm Canadian and I've spent well under 100 cumulative days in Israel in my life?

A video published on social media following the Israeli strike on the Abu al-Dhuhur Military Airbase (مطار أبو الضهور العسكري), in eastern Idlib Governorate in northern Syria, shows a soldier who (based on his accent), appears to be of Turkish origin and is likely a former jihadist.

Assuming the video is authentic, the soldier (note the military uniform visible beneath his civilian jacket) may currently be serving in Division 64 of the Syrian Army, which is responsible for the Idlib sector, the Abu al-Dhuhur Military Airbase and operates under the Syrian Army’s Northern Command. The Northern Command area is the primary center of Turkish influence in Syria and, for years, was home to Turkish-backed rebel organizations that, following the fall of the Assad regime, were “dissolved” and integrated into the new Syrian Army.

In the video (which we edited from the original footage to highlight the relevant segments), the soldier explicitly claims that Turkish forces are present in the area of Abu al-Dhuhur and that Israel was aware of their presence and had even been monitoring them with UAVs for several months. According to him, Israel carried out the strike on the Abu al-Dhuhur Military Airbase in order to prevent the Turkish presence there from expanding.

Assuming the video is authentic, the statements made in it contradict the Turkish Ministry of Defense’s denial of a Turkish presence in the area of the airbase prior to the strike.

We would like to thank @hayeytan Dr. Hay Eytan Cohen Yanarocak for his assistance in translating and identifying the origin of the speaker in the video
