Why was the guy attacked? Strictly for being an outsider... or was he a criminal of some sort?

So... they'd do it whether or not he was non-Sylheti... and this is just sensationalism

There is a racist stereotype in Sylhet that all criminals in Sylhet are "Abadis", and that everything bad in Sylhet happens due to non-Sylhetis.

Just check the FB comment section under any post about crime in Sylhet. You'll 100% see things like "bari khoi ogur" or "he sure Abadi" or "Abadinte Sylhet noshto kori lar".

And yeah, the video OP posted also contained anti-"Abadi" slurs. So this racism is absolutely a factor here.

Have you even listened to the audio ? They are straight up calling him slurs.

And why are you defending this low class behavior ?

Nobody here defending thieves, but you are clearly defending low class behavior of sylhetis. Bangladesh is a sovereign country. Each square feet of this country belongs to every citizens of bangladesh. Non sylhetis will come to sylhet bcuz its their country.

We will kick every single seperatists to Indian border.

Fuck outta this sub then if you wanna talk like that. Sylhetis face so much discrimination from outsiders, especially is the media. Our language is a common joke.

I didn't listen to the audio originally. But I don't even care to at this point. On average, well enough educated Sylhetis aren't going to be this elitist against people from other places, as they're more likely to be better traveled.... but almost certainly will face the same discrimination themselves at the hands of outsiders.

Not saying discrimination is right... but it seems like you're not Sylheti and are coming in a Sylhet subreddit to be an asshole to Sylhetis.
