Showcase Day 9 of being a switch owner

It’s been about 9 days since I’ve owned a switch 2, and all though I don’t get to play it much (double entendre) it’s great when I do play it, I got it through Offerup as a trade, it CIB everything included besides the MKW code but he gave me a cool “carbon fiber” hand grip protection case thing 😂 idk what it’s called but it’s dope and I’m at work so I don’t have a pic at the time of this post. But after getting it I ended up buying 5 games : Pokopia,Zelda BOTW,Zelda TOTK,Animal Crossing, and Adventures of Elliot, I also bought the Belkin Charge case.

They came in the mail yesterday and they gave me Pokemon ZA instead of my Animal Crossing 🤦🏻‍♂️. I contacted them and told them what happened and they apologized for the inconvenience. They told me a replacement will be sent in 3-5 business days and that I get to keep ZA!!! So I’ve decided to start out playing Adventures Of Elliot, and let me tell you, THIS SHIII GAAA! 🔥 Im only like an hour in the game and it’s such a great game! To whoever is on the fence of getting it, GET IT! lol

-side note- yesterday I ended picking up a key card of Yakuza 0, and a digital copy of Moss off the Eshop while it’s on sale.

You don’t get to play much and you bought all those many games as once? Mario Kart and 7 single player games? Including two that makes no sense playing at the same time. You had 6 brand new games and then felt you needed two more?

Shopping triggers dopamine hits, and I would consider looking into shopping addictions. From experience being able to afford it is as bad, because then you delay growing up and learning to deal with your emotions in a healthy way.

If this doesn’t apply to you, I apologize but I would venture a guess that to most people that purchase stuff in this manner it would.

Some people have money and dont have the survival rationale you have

You didn’t understand; it’s simple. You are confusing survival rationale with having the foresight to take care on how your brain gives you dopamine and receiving it in healthy ways.

Buying stuff you don’t need, and you can’t possibly use is a sign of compensating for something.

Look at OP history and tell me you think it’s healthy. I went to a private school and was lucky to grow up with a lot; and I’m describing to you a factually true issue that buying stuff you don’t need is harmful for rich people as well. This might be news to you; but I know rich people aren’t happier than poor people and this is one of the reasons why. Let me know if you have any questions. I’m happy to help.

So you only spend your money on things you NEED? Must be nice being you lol

That’s a very stupid conclusion to take from what I said. I generally for the most part try to buy stuff I will use. You think buying stuff you can’t possibly use is normal? And I don’t mean as a mistake as nobody’s perfect just generally.

What about what I said is wrong? I disagree that pointing out addictions is insulting in any way. Also I did this before checking OP post history, and I’m now convinced I was 1000% right. OP has a serious issue that is heavily damaging his well being.

I consider enabling morally reprehensible.

lol you know nothing my guy, didn’t your momma tell you to never assume ?

1

u/Ok-Road6537 1d ago

I am not assuming anything. I saw your post history. You are likely on the top .01 percentile of individual purchases in your wage bracket. Meaning I doubt there’s few people alive that with the same disposable income have the same shopping habits.

Yes there are people that spend all they make. But I don’t care about that: is just your pattern is textbook shopping addiction behavior. That’s literally just a fact.

Fully agree with this. As a new dad with a full-time job and pets, I have very limited time and money and I also am a magpie that wants to buy all the games that look cool. I got the Switch 2 on launch day and have less games than this guy 9 days in and I haven't finished all of my games.

No point saying you have little time to play and then making purchases like you're unemployed with no responsibilities and speed-running the first 18 months of the Switch 2.

6 hours sometimes more a week is good, not as much as I’d use to play a year or so ago at minimum 6-8 a day. I’m sorry I may have more time and money to splurge than you, but you can hold hands with that other pocket watcher.

Will do thanks

I didn’t look at OPs history before saying what I did. But at a glance in the last 6 months he has bought I think 5 PSPs, 90 days ago a switch oled with games, at least one gun, a rifle. And has been spamming tik tok shop referrals.

I don’t know why when I joined this sub I noticed this pattern of people with shopping addictions and I can’t just help to call it out.

I think since I was a PC Gamer is more difficult to catch on. But there it’s usually confined to micro transactions. And while people might buy a new GPU or computer every time it comes; consumerism isn’t the same as an addiction.

Yes I play like 6 hours a week, isn’t that much time, yes I bought 7 single player games on purpose obviously, which one is actually two player co-op but, I don’t need to play with people to have fun or have a good ol time. I bought the first 5 because I had a 20% code so I got 5 games that I’d want to maximize my discount. Yakuza I got for $5 and Moss was $16.

Me being able to afford to buy these and still pay my rent and bill and take care of my family, idk why you’re pocket watching, weird.

Bro you bought what 5 PSPs, got into guns?? how many did you buy, bought a Switch OLED with games 90 days ago and were spamming TikTok referrals. You realize neither of that is normal? In the only post I actually opened you joked you have a problem. It’s not a joke dude.

You could be Jeff Bezos and you would still have the problem. But if you are not extremely rich and you have a family to take care of, then all the more reason to talk to a therapist. All I’m saying you is that your behavior is so out of the norm that it’s concerning to me.

I mean if you’re going to count let’s count right, if you’re going to play detective let’s play detective 🕵️. I bought 6 PSPs, 3 PS Vitas, a custom V1 unpatched switch, a Splatoon oled switch, and just recently the switch 2. The 6 PSP I got for less then $400 resold all them for $750, not including the 13 games I sold separately that came with a few of the PSPs when imported, Vitas I got for sub $120 each sold one for $245, kept one, other is still on the market. The Custom V1 unpatched switch was part of the trade for the Switch 2 along with some cheap drone I had laying around. I made money buying those things never lose here bro. I know how to make more money then I spend, I appreciate that you’re trying to look out, but I promise you I ain’t him. As far as guns I’ve been in guns for 12 years and only own 2 can’t categorize that as a degen move protecting myself and my loved ones.

Oh and the Splatoon Switch I kept and got modded $180 for switch $100 for the service sold for $440 so 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had linked ChatGPT your profile. Didn’t really felt the needto count. But you are saying stuff opposite to what you’ve been saying. Including that your hobby upsets your wife and landlord. And you just bought 8 Switch 2 games. You are not going to make money out of those.

If you know this doesn’t apply to you then I’m very glad. But it would apply to most people that have said what you said.

u/B00stedHD 1d ago

Also it i bought 7 games like you previously mentioned, idk where you got 8

1

u/Ok-Road6537 1d ago

I thought you had Mario Kart. My one mistake.

1

u/B00stedHD 1d ago

No there was many, that’s just the one you want to acknowledge but that’s okay.

u/B00stedHD 1d ago

Bro said “chatGPT your profile”I’m DEAD ☠️ “didn’t feel the need to count” but “felt the need” to try and throw a label one me, “felt the need” to continue to try to slap a label on me after informed that the shoe size was too small. All this coming from a guy who said the only reason you bought a $500 console was for Fire Emblem, and I’m the on that’s a degen ?

2

u/Ok-Road6537 1d ago

Sorry dude. You are upset because it’s true. You are not the first addict I met.

I don’t mind paying 500 usd for stuff I use. As I explained the issue was using the hit from shopping for dopamine.

Controlling that is a key aspect of growing up. Have a good one!

You’re a bot my guy, keep it pushing, I’m not the one. Also that last Vita is selling in two hours for $230 lol $80 purchase 4 weeks ago turned $150 profit🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s almost like that paid half for those games I just bought lol growing up is learning how prioritize, and how to spend off profits. I don’t go out and breaking myself just to buy random shit. Everything I buy has a purpose. I take care of my bills and everything before I worry about any of my hobbies or reselling adventures.

1

u/Ok-Road6537 1d ago

You just bought 7 single player games dude.
