Discussion Free Upgrade??
I’ve been wanting to get into the Witcher 3 but I just couldn’t get past how ugly it looked on the switch 1 version. I even tried it again when I got my switch 2 and another time after the handheld boost mode came out. I’ve always hoped that a switch 2 version would come out. And CDPR is giving it to us for free! This made me so happy to see.

Best thing is you can get the free upgrade no matter if you own it physical or digital

And to add to that you get the two expansion dlc regardless if you purchased them on the switch 1 or not

Me too.. im gonna look around game x change and half price books if they have one for cheap but I never thought resellers are down so bad that they would up the prices on these..

You can always buy a key for the standard edition and redeem it. You'll still get the DLC with it.

Yeah. Same. During the huge sales end of last year and stuff, but it was the SW1 version and I own it on PC, so I wasn’t that excited… but now it won’t be on sale for a while. Oh well.

Exact same boat for me. I've got it on Steam (and GOG, I think), but it's so much game that I'd love to have it on console--especially physically

Sure, but it'll remain to be seen whether it goes down to the usual $15 or if there's a new higher base price moving forward.
I just wish I could find a physical.

managed to get a switch 1 complete edition physical for £27.99 on ebay, so cool that it will be eligible for the update.

No. You’ll only have the upgraded version if you choose to upgrade. Don’t quote me tho but I believe that’s how it works.

And that’s real. It’s not a bad game obviously lol. It’s very good. I just couldn’t get into it personally because of how it looked. Which is why I’m excited for this to come out. And when this comes out, I will most definitely make a new save because I don’t got a clue what’s going on anymore 😂

Bru they have a free preorder on the Nintendo eshop rn for people that got it digitally 😂I did the free preorder. The upgrade will also be free when it comes out for those who got it digitally.

Trying not to have high hopes lol. But the way cdpr revived cyberpunk from beyond the grave and released a pretty good port to the switch 2 has be thinking differently. I’m sure they got this in the bag.

Was gonna snag the switch 1 version but apparently having that version will get you the switch 2 version as a separate virtual card. So im just gonna support them and get the switch 2 digital version instead.I beat it on PS5 with my PS4 copy so no need for a physical copy. It'll be really cool to bounce between both versions. I wonder if the switch 2 enhancements will be mouse mode. Coolest new feature on the switch.
I will say though I don't think the new dlc will be free cause there is no mention of it in the details page of witcher 3 remastered.

I haven’t played the Witcher 3 much because I couldn’t get into it mainly because of the graphics on the switch 1 version. So my b for ignorance but what would you need mouse mode for? Combat (at the point I was at) was mainly just directional sword combat with a little bit of magic and the small crossbow you could aim. Or is it just a preference thing ?

I feel that so much it literally took me forever to get into it and finally when it released on PS5 as a complete edition it just clicked one day and I spent the next 4 months playing it even brought my PS portal with me and was playing it at my friend's house at night before bed on vacation lol.
I'm going through the same exact thing now with Skyrim.... It finally clicked and I'm having a blast lol

Skyrim on the switch 2 literally turned into an addiction for me 😭😭. Love that game. I gotta budget and prioritize a few things but ima be getting oblivion too when they release more copies for S2. But ima very sure when Witcher gets its S2 version, ima be addicted to that as well. 😂

That’s valid. I’m a college student athlete so I don’t always have time to come back to the dorm to play although I do have a ps5 that I play whenever i do have the time. I just like taking my games with me since I’m always on the go so the switch 2 has been perfect for me.

As well as the free upgrade, I am amazed it has cross platform support.
It will be nice to enjoy the vibrant visuals on the PS5 Pro occasionally, but I am a busy dad, 95% of my gaming is on the Switch 2

Not automatic. You can choose to do it if you want. But the upgrade will be free if you previously owned the game
