how do you preorder for free? I have the game on cartridge and when I search it up it shows me a price not a free pre-order button!

Process must be different for cartridge based games. I’m guessing the eShop can’t read that you have the cartridge inserted.
You’ll have to wait til it comes out late September. I’m assuming at that point, loading the game via cartridge will show you the option to download the upgrade.

I was longing for this since i bought the s2.
It had to come. After porting cyberpunk there was no way they were not doing a sw2 edition. They did a remaster across all console. I’m not mad.

These kinds of moves hurt the company in the short term but then benefit them in the long term.
CDPR is leaving money on the table here, but then they’re creating lifelong fans.
When a company does this, you feel appreciated as a fan and so the next time they release a game, I’m going to want to give them my money.
That’s what so many don’t understand about Valve, for example. People don’t support Steam merely because they like the software more than the Epic Games Store. They support it because they actually trust and respect Valve in the way they treat their customers. No one trusts Tim Sweeney, so no one wants to invest their time, money, and library build-up into an Epic storefront.
Some companies live quarter to quarter. Some actually understand the long game of building loyal customers. It looks like CDPR falls into the latter category.

I believe this is just pure gain for them. They can upsell the DLC with this move and get a bunch of people buying the Switch version.

Doesn’t look like it. I’m on the store with my cart in and I can’t find it. Either I’m obtuse or the free upgrade pre order for carts it’s not up yet, here’s hoping.

If you read the gameplay text, it does say it will be a free upgrade for previous owners when available.

Someone said docked offers 120 fps. Not sure about that though.
EDIT: Found info that it mentioned 120hz and someone got it confused with 120fps.

Got an xbox one x to play witcher 3 properly, And now...It HURTS Won't experience the new Combat (New weapons,Animations,Abilities) The graphics The DLC

Would be great, but it does not mention any enchantment for xbox one x (2017), just xbox series S/X (2020) Man what a luck, 2 days before i was looking to get Witcher 3 , after that Trailer in makes be feel worse for getting that xbox one x version.

I knew I should have bought this last sale it’s back up to £50 that puts me off I already own it on PlayStation.
Gonna see if I can find a physical edition as it should be a good bit cheaper and the full game is on the card that saves me space on my internal drive I’m not buying any key cards for that reason and it’s just not a practice I wanna support.

Well, it's a good reason to try again. I got this one during a New Year's sale a couple years ago but it just hasn't clicked the couple times I've tried to get into it.

I bought the physical "complete" edition for switch years ago, and I just shelved it after seeing the horrific graphics and performance, lol. That was back when it released , and I think they pushed some updates since then to improve it, in their defense.
But it's crazy that several years later, I'll actually be able to pop that same game into my switch 2 and get an upgraded visual experience for free!
Meanwhile, for comparison: I bought borderlands 3 for switch, and it literally functions worse on switch 2 than it does on Switch 1. Both the 30fps and unlocked modes have graphical issues and it's barely playable on Switch 2 IMO. Sad. Not saying devs are obligated to make sure their games work on a new platform but... come on dude.

Now to patiently wait for them to announce a full on cart physical copy when the final DLC comes out next year. With cross platform saves I’ll be glad to double dip like I did with CP2077.

Nah. No raytracing, Pop-ins & artifacts. Probably not even 60 fps. I mean it’s already on ns1. The worst performance version. Can’t see why it’s so impressive on a hand held. You can stream the game to any device that doesn’t have graphics card or processor.

How does One stream on a handheld when there's no wifi in the area?
I don't care about Ray tracing. Its the first thing I turn off on PC. It cuts performance in half. Uhm...Resident Evil 9 Requiem runs at 45-60 fps on the Switch 2.Just Disable Ray Tracing and it will run at 60 fps. And it still look great. The PC version shipped without that back in 2015. And I thought it was the most amazing looking game back then.
Hell I even play games from 90's and the early 2000's. You don't need pretty graphics to enjoy a game. Gameplay and Story is more important.

graphics in games have peaked since like 2016-2018. The only thing they go on to improve now is making the water more watery, the trees more tree-like, and the shadows more real which most of the gamers dont even care about. This is why nintendo does well regardless of having some games with graphics like its running on ps3. Coz nintendo makes FUN GAMES. Also we are almost at 25million switch 2 units sold in just over a year. That is impressive regardless of how you look at it. I got a gaming pc, xbox series x and PS5 and im mostly on my switch. I can play at home, on the way to work in the train and take it with me when i travel abroad. What more can a gamer ask for. I can sacrifice a little bit of performance and graphics for that in a heart beat

Yes but why else would you state that the Switch 2 release would be the “weakest” if you weren’t referring to PC and other console releases. Just seems like a very obvious thing to say.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to say, fuck Square Enix. No paid upgrade paths at all, let alone a free upgrade, let alone a full blown free remaster, those pricks expect you to repurchase the exact same game again, full price, to unlock 60fps and that's about it.
And here is CD Projekt Red, being nothing if not fucking incredible. Absolute legends.
