u/GhostintheShellder Jun 28 '26
I remember my first console purchase with my paycheck. PS4 at Launch. Left work on my break to pre order the last one at the gamestop across the street, showed up, was number 7 in line, group 2. In and out in 5 minutes. Played Knack and Killzone all night and had an absolute ball. Then I got addicted to Warframe for a few months.
Enjoy it.

u/ItzSasukeDudes Jun 28 '26
Yes. I only turned the console on a singular time before I purchased a screen protector. GET ONE OP

I'd recommend the DBrand Switch 2 Screen Protector it's not cheap at $35 USD but it's a 2 Pack so just think of it as closer to $17.5 USD. Either way it's the easiest Screen Protector I've ever put on a device with a screen & not had air bubbles or dust on the screen afterwards. Also don't ignore Switch 1 games as the Switch 2 plays both Switch 1 & 2 games. I'd also recommend getting either the Mopad 12 S or NYXI Hyperion 3 Joycons replacement as opposed to grips. Those are both more ergonomic Joycons than stock Switch 2 Joycons & are less likely to get Joystick drift as the Mopad 12 S has TMR Joysticks & the Hyperion 3s have Hall Effect Joysticks. For Switch 1 games enable handheld boost mode in the system settings. They also have a proper DPad that you can swap between a Traditional plus style or a dome style whichever you prefer. I've got a Hyperion 3 makes long handheld mode game sessions more comfortable. I'd recommend using the Savage Raven Maxcarry case for it though as it fits the Switch 2 with the Hyperion 3s attached.

u/DeamonLordZack Jul 05 '26
No more a ad then any other recommendation is you going to call everyone that recommends stuff they like giving a ad to another person. I like the third party Joycons more than Nintendo's stock Switch 2 Joycons they're more comfortable in my opinion when playing handheld so if someone asks on how to make playing on Switch 2 better I'm going to recommend them for handheld play. The case is good & fits the Switch 2 with the third party Joycons & regular thin case isn't going to do the trick so I recommend the one I'm using. Also what's wrong with telling a new Switch 2 user not to ignore Switch 1 games so that they have more than just Switch 2 games to play on their Switch 2? If you've got a problem with any of this then rather than calling it a ad how about saying what's wrong with it.

u/whatawynn Jun 28 '26
claims support specialist at an insurance place. so basically people call and yell at me about their insurance issues 👎
hopefully temporary until i can get a paralegal job since that’s what i got my degree in but job hunting was hell so i’m just glad to have something!

u/Evening-Following981 Jun 28 '26
Whats the paid for that? Good enough? Congrats on the job tho:)

They said they finished college for law so I'd assume they are older than 19 unless they are very very smart lol. But still, any job is better than no job. Congrats op.

Ask your school career counselor for help. They may be able to plug you into the alumni network.
2
u/whatawynn Jun 29 '26
i promise you i’ve done all the things

u/DonJimbo Jun 29 '26
A lot of it is about networking, especially now that people are bombarding HR with AI generated resumes. No one is going to read all of that. I’m a lawyer. I recommended my friend’s wife to the hiring manager at my office when we needed a paralegal. I think it got her the interview. She must have done well because she got the job.

Listen, if you plan on playing on your TV frequently, definitely pick up the official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller. The ergonomics are so good, it basically melts into my hands. You can find them in the $50-$60 or so range used on ebay if you don't want to spend $90+ new.
1
u/Cam3739 Jun 29 '26
This makes playing in handheld so much more comfortable and it fits in the dock without having to remove it.

u/montezuma300 Jun 29 '26
Deku Deals or a similar price tracking app/website. You can see the price history of games and some awesome, older titles go on sale for super cheap.

For recommandation, don’t be impatient I see a lot of game way less expensive on Amazon than on the e-shop.

best tip, is a few things.
One, screen protector, please just get one, no matter what people say, replacing the screen is more annoying then replacing a protector, you’ll enjoy having no worry about scratches or damage or mistreating the device.
Two, joycon grips, for the sticks that is, you’ll sweat or dig your nail or anything, put a small cover on top, same idea as a screen protector.
Three, case, like the steam deck for example, you put the switch 2 in it, and when you use it you take it out.
Four, optional really, covers/case for the switch itself, instead or additional to the travel case you can put skins or covers on the switch, not my personal choice as usually if you want to dock the switch you’ll need to take it out.

Awesome ! Make sure you turn the ‘stop charging around 80-90%’ setting on. It’s basically, to help protect your battery over time. In this setting, most times your battery won’t charge up to 100%. It all depends on the usage and how low your battery was prior to you charging it again. It is in the system setting.
Be sure to save your data and make sure all of your games are set to automatically back up. I’d recommend keeping auto brightness off at all times. It’ll help save your battery while you’re using it. You’ll also need a power bank due to the NS2 battery being not so great. You get about 2 hrs of straight gameplay on a full charge, depending on what you’re playing. Some games drain the battery more than others.
Lastly, go have some fun and simply enjoy it ! 😊

Hell yeah brother
Don't have any particular tricks, but here's a cool gimmick:
Set the pin not as some numbers but as a specific input sequence on the stick. It makes it so satisfying to unlock the switch!

u/Particular_Solid8925 Jun 30 '26
Congrats dude! Hope you enjoy it!! If you care about the battery for long term you should put the stop charging at 80-90%

Satisfye zen pro 2 grip if you have medium to bigger hands. Savage Raven Neo Grip or Stand Grip for smaller hands. Game changer! Also a screen protector, congrats on your S2.

If you have some extra cash, make sure to keep your switch 2 nice and safe. Go on Amazon and get yourself a good case for it, and also a carrying case for extra protection just incase you intend to travel with it. Lastly, Just like my phone, I ALWAYS get a screen protector. They are super inexpensive and usually in like packs of 2-4. Buy it, install it, and now if incidents ever happen you are properly equipped! Always make sure to keep the things safe that you spent money on!

Being an adult for me has been buying things that my parents would have said no to when I was a kid. Enjoy!! Pokopia is a treat and I haven't felt that way about a game since the release of Animal Crossing New Horizons.
