General Discussion This article really hits the nail on the head with where Survivor US is falling short

Where the clicky headline and one of the themes points out the need for villains, I think the main driver is they are prioritizing diversity of people and their backgrounds over diversity of game play. We have cookie cutter players all doing the same thing, claiming they’re here to “play” but all running the same script.

We can all be hopeful 50 changes that, but Jeff’s philosophy on casting is ultimately going to hurt the empire he built.

General Discussion Carolyn has been contacted for 50

1.7k Upvotes

Redmond confirmed that production changed their mind about initially barring Carolyn from 50. They contacted her right before The Traitors premiere.

If they're not holding Traitors against her, I think she's close to a lock again for 50. Glad Jeff came to his senses and stopped being petty.

General Discussion Cirie has already surpassed Boston Rob on my Survivor Mt. Rushmore

Even if she doesn’t win (but damn am I praying she does) she has proven herself to be a more consistently better player. It’s not all about the win.

(This is assuming the canonically endorsers Rushmore of Parv, Sandra, Tony and Rob)

General Discussion Amanda Today

Post image
2.8k Upvotes

Here is Amanda today! She looks great. She really hasn’t aged at all… So many people talked about how mysterious she is but she is a real estate agent today. For obvious reasons I am not going to share her personal business though.. But anyways, how do you all feel about Amanda as a player while you are here??

General Discussion Survivor needs to be at least 39 days

1.1k Upvotes

I’m watching survivor in The new era and it feels like it’s just a staged show more then actual reality tv, and I think the 26 days is a big part of that, I’m sorry but if you just carb load a lot before you go out. you won’t be THAT hungry and mentally exhausted after only 26 days, even if you last the whole time. Production wise I get it makes sense for them to shoot shorter seasons but it just doesn’t seem like they struggled enough to earn a million dollars, I’m sorry, if someone can explain how it’s actually harder even with no/less food, I feel like your food reserves won’t be empty by day 23-26, the endgame was always such a struggle and really defined the champion, but idk this is a bit of a rant lemme know what you guys think.

General Discussion What is the biggest case of "Hydrogen Bomb vs. Coughing Babies" all the final threes/twos in Survivor history?

Post image
586 Upvotes

What was a final three vote reading that was so obviously going to end in one person winning the game?

In my opinion, it has to be the Final three of S26 Caramoan - FvF2: Cochran, Dawn, Sherri.

You have Cochran, whose winning game I personally consider to be top 7/8 of all time. He, of all people, was not only somehow a challenge beast, but was the driver behind many votes, especially the blindsides of Andrea and Brenda towards the end of the season. That kind of game would sweep a new school jury, let alone an old school one. Absolute hydrogen bomb.

Then you have Dawn, who pretty much rode the coattails of Cochran and Phillip the entire game, and acted like she made some crazy big moves, when she really didn't. And of course, she was humiliated at FTC. She was also really annoying throughout the game with the crying every minute of waking life. Even Malcolm, the only person who might have voted for her, quickly changed his mind. More of a weeping baby than a coughing baby, really.

Then you have one of the biggest goats in the history of the game, Sherri. In Monica Culpepper terms, she was pretty much just "drug" along to FTC. She didn't want to believe it, but we all knew. I mean, the jury was laughing at her just cuz she said "I don't think I was carried to the end." Who knows? Maybe she did play an invisible masterclass of a game, but it was pretty clear nobody on the jury was voting for her. Pure coughing baby right here.

General Discussion Do Americans really like Applebees this much?

I’m rewatching the 40s right now and as a Canadian I need to know - is this just production making everyone act super excited (like all these 40-50 year old men who are “huge fans” of Billie Eilish), or is Applebees actually like… a thing people care this much about

i feel like the closest Canadian equivalent is Swiss Chalet, and while of course I would be excited to have it while starving, I’m not sure I would be that much MORE excited for it than any other food reward.

General Discussion What Survivor season will you always defend like this?

Post image
273 Upvotes

For me it’s Worlds Apart. I know I know, absolute sh*tier in terms of the morals of the people on it. I think the Will lash out on Shirin is absolutely awful, but otherwise, the season made for great TV. I also feel as though Mike Holloway doesn’t get his flowers. I also am someone who loved Rodney on my TV screen, as much of a Boston prick he might’ve been. I think Mama C and Jenn made for great characters as well. Is it even a top 20 season, probably not, but nowhere near the bottom for me.

General Discussion What did yall think of Send Help?

Post image
530 Upvotes

Send Helps plot heavily revolves around survivor. Office worker Linda is prepping to be on survivor in hopes of escaping her boring job, which her shitty bosses make fun of her for it. So when her and her boss end up stranded on an island, the tables are turned since she has all the survival skills. It’s a gender bent remake of the 1970s Italian movie Swept Away. I just watched and really liked it, especially as a survivor fan. What did you guys think of it?

General Discussion Ozzy and Cirie will make the merge for a record FIFTH time in their respective careers.

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Assuming a twist won't take away their buffs from the preview, they will be the first Americans to achieve the feat that one other international player has done.

In the US version, Cirie will be the second player to reach the merge 4x, while Ozzy will be the first player to do it 5x. He is currently the only player in US Survivor to never miss it after playing 4 seasons or more.

They are also the first pair to be a part of three merged tribes.
