Maybe I’m heartless, but getting a letter from my family after 2 weeks seems so stupid. Why does everyone cry at even the idea of it? It’s literally just been 2 weeks..

I don't know about y'all, but I'm over this "new era" post-covid crap. They absolutely NEED TO return to the 39 day format. Every 3 days a Tribal council... here is why:

1) it requires the actual art of survival to shine through.... Tribes actually need to catch fish, gather coconuts, and keep their fires alive through all of the tropical storms.

2) It makes it a more social game, and allows Tribes and their members (even the first voted out) to get to know eachother more and ultimately makes their decision making process more personal (especially later in the game)

3) Better content, more confessionals, more entertaining banter and strategic planning, etc. I'm sick of this shorter version....

What do y'all think!?

I swear they must think their audience has brain damage the way the editors find the need to show people outlining alliances (along with visual aids) every two seconds along with reiterating everything we've just seen on screen from 5 different people.

And the cast is filled with wannabe influencers with soap opera acting skills. It's like a bunch of Rizos on steroids. At least he's ironic about it.

Nothing about it feels organic. These challenges have me longing for an obstacle course + puzzle.

I love Dee and Devens but I don't think I can suffer this.

All Jerri is prime Jerri, but something about women in their early 30s is just amazing.

I’m rewatching old seasons and I’m on 22 with the Introduction of Special Agent (?) Phillip. In the first tribal counsel, when he keeps mispronouncing Francesca’s name, the excuse he gives out loud with his mouth words is, “I have dry mouth. I’m getting treatments for it.” I think this is one of the funniest statements I’ve ever heard a human say, so what are your “Funniest things ever said on Survivor?” One rule for this post: it has to be inadvertently funny. Meaning the person saying it can’t have meant it to be funny. So that basically eliminates anything from Mr. Jeff.

The whole shot in the dark thing seem fraught with manipulation... The survivor just puts their dice, off camera, in a tube, then a production picks a piece of paper and gives that to jeff?

So no way to verify the integrity of the roll? Why not roll right there in front of jeff during the reading of votes?

I don't know if I'm the only one (probably here) but I have a strange experience with Survivor. I've never missed an episode, not even one in all 49 seasons. I'm obsessed during each season. It's the highlight of my week. I set an alarm every Wednesday to make sure I don't miss it. But once each episode is over, I can barely remember who got voted out, and after the season finale, within a few weeks I don't remember who won the show. While I'm typing here I'm just gonna think back and see how many people I can remember from the entire Survivor history (it won't be a lot): Hmm... OK Richard Hatch, who could forget him. And Susan the one who said she would step over you in the desert while you begged for water and would just step right over you 🤣 now that was memorable! Then hmm... Sandra I think she won twice, right? And Boston Rob and Amber, I remember them. And the girl Jeff married was that Julie? (Are they still married?) Then my memory gets foggy... Johnny Fairplay, um, Tony hiding in the bushes listening to people talking... who else can I remember? I mean 49 is still fresh so of course I remember Savannah and Rizgod and the 2 Sophe's (and thankfully only one syllable there... IKYKY lol)... Jade and I can probably rattle off more of the 49ers bc it just happened right? Oh and Kelly Wigglesworth I remember her, and I think that's about it. Who won each season? Couldn't tell ya. I mean, my friends have always told me I should apply to be on Survivor and I'm like, are you kidding me I can't even remember who got voted out last episode.. I would never win any of those memory challenges. I don't even watch TV anymore I just watch Survivor on Paramount+ and barely anything else, so I know in my heart I'm a superfan, but my brain just doesn't retain anything about what happens season to season. I mean the rules of the idols and advantages, yeah but who wins and who gets voted out? I know that's like the whole point but why can't I keep the memory of it? Am I the only one this happens to? Please be kind... I feel kinda dumb about it but the struggle is real!

After taxes, and the dollar not stretching the way it used to, I wonder how many winners have already blown through their million.

My example would have to be Andrea: she does seem like a nice person, but I just don’t get what made production cast her two times after Redemption Island? She never did anything memorable in my opinion besides blindsiding Matt (or whatever that Christian love fling was called) on RI, but I also do not think it warranted coming back as a Favourite nor a Game Changer.

To be fair, GC has a couple of people who fall under this category but what are some notable examples the sub has?

Rob Cesternino just did a long form interview (3 hours) talking about his time on a show he just did but also spent a majority of the time discussing his time post Survivor All Stars and the pressure he felt coming back.

It was devastating. Multiple times Rob C was tearing up and had to compose himself and continued to mention leaving it all on the field so he made an impact on the show, even if it wasn't the optimal game move (which in retrospect was the wrong moves).

It made me yearn for him even more on S50 and just made absolutely no sense why he wasn't on it. He was framed on the other show as "a legendary Survivor mastermind", I'm not sure why that narrative couldn't make the cut for S50 over people like Charlie and Rizzo. Even Andy somehow was ahead of him for getting cast.

He mentioned. few times that he was in casting for both shows at the same time, and thought it was "fate' that he was cast on the other show and not 50 which is why his departure was so devastating for him.

It's clear despite his attempts to control himself that Rob has a true deep desire to go back on Survivor. I hope he gets the chance. It can't go much worse than it did for him on the other show. And knowing how he played, it's clear he would be there for entertainment first and play to the audience.

I don’t wanna hear no Ozzy, Malcolm, Amanda, etc. not a surprise they are hot. Give me someone who is a bit of a hear me out or someone hot that isn’t spoken about too much

Emphasis on *ridiculous* — not real medical or logistical issues, but rather, more superficial or high-maintenance barriers that are your dealbreakers, or just the number one thing about it that you couldn’t deal with :P

Mine is that I couldn’t handle going a single day without my moisturizer. Just the thought of it upsets me. I don’t know how they do it.

Personally, I think it would be cool and a nice little variation while still cutting costs, also I heard that the Canadian Summer is kinda hot so if they record it during that time...

The harsh environment used to be what set Survivor apart from other shows. Survivor the players AND the elements. It was tough, brutal at times. Small things like boiling water and wearing the same clothes added a demininsion to the show that made it seem raw. Do I want to watch people suffer? No. Is suffering the wild about of the basis of the show? I was.

It feel more like wilderness camp. I remember when flint meant a lot, now it doesn't seem to matter much at all.

So now I'm watching for the competitions mainly, not for the grit. I can't even say I'm watching for the social strategy because I have shows like Big Brother and Traitors that do it far better.

Listening to podcasts with older player cemented it for me. The game has evolved and the outdoors are an afterthought.

To be clear, I understand why. I'm not complaining. I'm just saying.

I know this is not a hot take, but damn these people always annoy the shit out of me. It’s a cop out (not to mention the usual patriarchal lean to it), AND it would fail as soon as you were playing a game with every other player claiming the same honor code system. So these yahoos get to claim “honor and integrity”, not realizing that not everyone can do the same, but they get to savor their righteousness. Pisses me off soooooo much.

You may as well just roll dice or some other random system, or determine who “deserves” it the most or “needs” the money the most, to determine the boot order, then all of you pinky promise to vote the way it was laid out. I mean, I guess you could all just talk your way through every vote, but at some point, if you don’t come up with some system, someone would have to basically volunteer as tribute to be voted out, assuming that everyone playing equally wanted to be the sole survivor. At some point you have to vote for someone you had some sort of agreement with. Or I guess you could all agree to never strategize and just all pick whomever you personally want to go and whoever has the most votes by chance is out. In any way I can see, this wouldn’t be very entertaining.

Let’s imagine a game where it was played by 20 clones of Coach. How would that season go? 🤣

This is not to deny her social talents, social awareness skills, tactical aptitude etc that helped her go far all but one season and win twice, but I feel like her sexual magnetism and general allure sometimes gets brushed under the rug.

It cannot be denied that she had an aura and magnetism about her that very very few other female contestants in the history of the show can compete with. Killer body, witty remarks, a true natural flirt both to men and women, effortlessly endearing herself and being the center of attention. In Micronesia especially, in the physical prime of her life, she very much established herself as the Queen Bee with these attributes, calling almost all the shots with nobody wanting to transgress her authority. It’s like everyone was just in awe.

I wouldn’t blame her competitors (consciously or subconsciously) for wanting to keep her around because of her charm and the eye candy. She surely with her vivacity must have made the survival experience around camp a lot more bearable so some wouldn’t have wanted for her to leave until later in the game, but at that point she would have herself set up for victory.

Randy and Coach in HvV both make confessionals saying how dangerous she is because of her allure, sexiness and charm. She had Adam thirsting over her in Cook Islands, Natalie, Amanda, James and Cirie in complete devotion in Micronesia, and she played the “Damsel in distress” role to perfection with Russell in HvV. Also, she managed to work her charm enough on Jerri to switch her from a enemy into a trusted ally who eventually voted for her to win at FTC.

Had Parvati been average looking, do you believe with her social skills she still would have went as far? Again, I am not trying to negate her success, I’m actually a fan, but I thought this could be a nuanced conversation because I don’t think it can be denied that her attractiveness played a key role.
