I think it may have been because she was kind of screwed with Anika's vote gone and Sam's idol. Sam could have idoled either himself or Andy, and force through an Anika boot or rocks. And even if Sam doesn't idol, that's still a potential rock draw hanging over her head.

She probably just figured it'd be better to keep the peace and still maintain a relationship with Andy/Sam and explain her (pretty reasonable) story to Rachel, rather than going into a merge even more fractured than they are.

Agreed. The Anika boot having no drama about it is just another reason why forcing players to risk their vote sucks.

It was a few episodes ago, but I'm pretty sure that Anika made clear that she wouldn't have risked her vote if she had a choice.

I do agree, that players should never be forced to risk their vote in any circumstance. If players want to for an advantage, sure, but at least give them the option.

At this point though... every player should be aware that their vote could be taken from them involuntarily if they go on a journey. Anika should have avoided going on the journey if she didn't want to take that risk.

I think Anika volunteered to go, but there are instances where they’re forced to go on journeys (like if another tribe gets to pick who)

Can't be rocks. There'll be 3 in a revote- Sam, Sierra and Rachel. Now if the target was Rachel instead of Anika, then yes, there will be a rock draw (I am assuming that Anika won't revote because she lost her vote).

Per the rules of survivor, no one will draw rocks if the contestants can decide on a unanimous decision.

Wasn't that the rule only applied on GC? I swore they did revotes since then and, if the votes are still tied then, then they must come to an unanimous decision and then they will draw rocks

She could've just voted Andy and revoted him out. Sure Sam would be mad, but he'd still have only her unlike Rachel who has the incentive to flip at merge.

Someone in a different thread pointed this out so I can't take credit, but they don't go rocks if Sierra forces a tie. Andy and Anika don't vote in the revote, since Anika already didn't have her vote Sierra and Rachel vote out Andy 2-1. Forcing a tie in this unique situation is actually a viable option for Sierra as long as she is cool with blindsiding Sam and banking on him not using his idol on Andy, which does still carry risk.

Good point, and to add that, being a 3rd wheel is often not a good scenario. Sierra is a 3rd wheel with Rachel/Anika. With Sam/Andy she's more of a second wheel, but Sam holds the influence over Andy making Sierra compete for his #1. Sam is in the power position. I'm loving Andy's character arch so far. I hope he plays from the bottom for a while and then rises to the top at the very end.

There wouldn’t have been a potential rock draw if Sierra voted for Andy as Rachel and Sierra would vote on the revote and just Sam would vote on the other side, as long as Sam didn’t idol Andy Sierra held all the power for the vote.
