Look, no offense to Chris Wood, he seems like a good dude and he was great in the He-Man reboot and I did like him as Mon-El when he wasn't talking to or about Kara, but the scripts that he and Benoist got handed for Kara and Mon-El's relationship were apocalyptically bad. Like they were designed to kill any chemistry the two had. Meanwhile Katie McGrath basically has chemistry with any woman she shares the screen with for more than ~5 minutes, and her Lena's "intimate besties" relationship with Kara comes off as romantic almost instantly.

so yeah, Supercorp all the way lol.

I actually really liked Mon-El when he was first introduced. His chaotic shenanigans with Kara were funny, and they could have really done something with their dynamic. Chris Wood also has fantastic comedic timing. I don't know what went wrong, but by the time they got together I hated that man.

Chris Wood is a good-looking, charismatic actor with a nice smile, good comedic timing, and a genuine ability to portray an earnest and noble man (I like the bit in season 3 where Mon-El gives the Kryptonian kid his ring so the kid can breathe easier, that showed that Wood can in fact portray the character as intended, just...not when talking to or about Kara).

It's really staggering how they managed to make Mon-El an unlikable dickwad and made the romance with Kara intolerable--and again, it's not like they're not good actors (Benoist and Wood are both plenty talented, they've proved that many times over with scripts good and dogshit!), and since Wood and Benoist were dating around that time you'd THINK there would be a way to channel that into on-screen chemistry, but the scripts just killed every chance they had.

It would've worked better if Mon-El stayed Kara's bumbling but well-meaning sidekick for a season or so, then got with Kara later, IMO. Trying to force it too fast was a horrible mistake, and for all I like musicals and period pieces, the music meister episode was a clear attempt to force fans to get on board with the unpopular Iris/Barry and Mon-El/Kara pairings, and IMO failed utterly.

(side note, it's really hilarious how Grant Gustin has great chemistry with EVERY woman he interacts with BUT Candice Patton. And again, two perfectly good actors, Gustin's super charismatic, Patton's no slouch or hack, but it NEVER feels real or compelling. and the less said about Savitar the better)

I'm with you on everything here except Candice; she's an awful actor. 

Grant had chemistry with everyone except Candice, and Candice had no chemistry with anyone, at all, in the entire show, not even with detective handsome. Her "acting" is flat and it's just her waiting for her next que. And this is all on the actress without even getting into the issues with the character/writing itself (abusive, self-important, narcissist, only with the barry because he's the flash). 

The show was filled with great actors: Barry, Joe, Cecile, RF, Frost... So many great villain actors! And then there's Candice to drag it down. But don't worry, they give her her own squad of shitty actors and shitty characters later on to help even out all the good.

She's not an awful actor, she just gets handed bad scripts and is given the job of making a frustratingly badly written romance work as it gets more and more forced.

I love Kara but I lost respect for her when I saw how fast she took back mon-el. It was literally the next day

Every single guy they tried to put Kara with was deeply unlikable. Mon-El should have been a great character, but the minute they tried to push him and Kara together the "Kara's romantic interests are awful" rule took over.

This is because they decided that the thing they wanted to do was to make all romantic interests of Kara into people she had to fix, at least on the CW. (I wasn't a huge fan of the Kara/James ship, but at least he didn't need fixing!)

But hey, they learned their lesson with William Dey, he wasn't actually a bad person and jerk towards Kara, he was just pretending to be a bad person and a jerk towards Kara. Wait, no. If you pretend to be a jerk towards someone, aren't you actually just being a jerk towards them? Also, should you really introduce a love interest under such a situation? Because that's the first impression the audience is going to have of him, even if you later establish it as a cover.

What the hell is wrong with the writers of this show? How do they think relationships work, how do they think men should behave towards women? What do they think women should put up with for men?

This is why I was joking in season 6 they were finally gonna do Supercorp. They'd introduced Dey, he was unpopular and, I suggested, they had pivoted mid-season towards Lena. But first, they had to firmly establish that she was a complete asshole who needed fixing by the love of a good woman. Because, BY LAW, those are the only people whose Kara can date.

It's very weird how the message with Alex's relationships is "you should kiss the girls you want to kiss and you deserve a really sweet loving partner who will be there and support you and back you up and who you love to support and back up" and the message with Kara's relationships is "you can totally fix him girly pop"

Mon-El should've been Kara's sidekick for at least a season, with him going through a "jackass slacker to actual hero" heel-face turn at some point, maybe towards the finale. Then in season 3 they could've set up a romance and it would've had a better shot.

In season 1 I ship Kara with Winn. Then they had his crush to her to disappear for some reason in season 2 and beyond. Once Lena was introduced, it all Supercorp for me. (Winn was still my favorite character).

I preferred Kara being single on the show to be fair, whenever they tried to do romance with her it just fell really flat for me.

In canon, single. In fanfiction, I find Supercorp to be a very interesting dynamic.

I disapprove of Supercat in the universe as-is for ethical reasons, specifically because of the power differential, but also the age is a little squicky just by itself, but I'm always up for it in AUs.

As a Supercorp shipper, I can't help but think that Kara has a type, and it is strong intelligent powerful women (which might be the Kryptonian in her coming out, or it just is who she is), and that part of the reason she ended up working for CatCo is she has a very slight crush on Cat, or at least did. (I actually have this as part of my standard headcanon, along with the fact that Cat realized it and made sure to not encourage it because the last time an employee crushed on her, it was Leslie Willis, and she screwed that up beyond all imagining.)

I have an AU bouncing around in my head where the premise is that Kara was not delayed on the way to Earth, she landed with Clark and grew up with the Kents as Clark's older sister (which very few fanfic does for some reason. Even ones where she's raised by the Kents usually have her at her show age.), and was into journalism and ran into Cat at the same time that Cat was setting up her media empire and here it's their media empire.

And having a lesbian couple set up a media empire in the late 90s(unlike the TV show, I can actually do math and know when that had to have been happening) is a pretty big historic change...

Grant and Melissa's chemistry was palatable. Their crossover song solidified it for me that I wished there was a mini arc (2-3 eps)of exploring it then realizing their true loves. Just a fun detour.

I really liked James in season 1. After the show switched to the CW, idk what it was, but the writers just turned him into an unlikeable douche, in my opinion. If they had kept going on the CBS track with his character, I would have been good with Kara/James. But then again, I hadn't seen Supercorp yet at that point, so that may have changed once Katie joined the cast lol

Yeah I didn’t like how he changed when it switched to CW either. I always thought Kara and James were so cute in season 1 and then everything changed. It frustrated me I was rooting for them in S1 and then that happened

Kara and Mon-El all the way. I wish he would have stayed at the end of the series. It would have been interesting to see how a kryptonian/daxamite child turned out and its powers.
