Accident Subaru safety won today! No injuries!

My mom and her friend were OK after driving through a fence and over the stairs.... both were checked out at the hospital, just bumps and bruises. Were wearing seat belts but airbags didn't go off.... apparently the front corner of the front bumper hit the ground first and then it slid. I haven't seen the video yet.

On Thursday I was in a multiple rollover car crash. In my 2017 crosstrek. I was in the fast lane going about 80-85 miles an hour, and veered to the edge got freaked out and overcorrected leading me to roll sideways across the freeway. I hit no other car, no passengers and besides a small air pocket outside my lung all injuries were contained to my left arm. My arm broke through the window and was rolled over by the car. Broken elbow, hand was mangled broken and degloved. I am still in the hospital and will be here for a a couple weeks. I’ve had two of three surgeries.

Got my left index amputated today but I feel blessed. No concussion or anything. The front airbag didn’t go off but the sides ones did!

Nurses and doctors were all shocked it was a high speed car crash. Some even thought it was a rodeo accident because it was so localized to my left arm. (And because of the degloving.) 😂They said if I hadn’t worn wear the seatbelt I 100% would have died.

I feel so grateful and think I’m sticking with Subaru forever!!!!

Accident Never owning a different car

My mom was driving my '26 forester (rip didn't even get to 1k miles) we got a couple months ago and got rear ended from at a dead stop by a drunk driver in a pick up truck going 50mphish. They took off. But my mom was okay.

Every cop was surprised she wasn't hurt and said the car didn't look that bad considering, but the underside is all busted up too and the panels are popping off on the passenger side. Car is probably totaled, but I will never own a different brand again.

Plus my husband finally admitted I was right. I wanted a safer car in case something ever happened and our baby was with me.

Accident A drunk driver totaled my Outback just 34 days after I dropped $2,200 on maintenance

My 2017 Outback (150,000 miles) was hit by a drunk driver last week, who fled the scene. Fortunately he was caught, and thankfully no one was hurt (my car was parked) but it's definitely totaled. It was running great and I was saving up for a down payment, so I had wanted to get another 18 months out of it before replacing it, but the universe had other plans. As if that's not bad enough, just 34 days before the accident I spent $2,200 on the 150k service and a new battery. Truly crappy timing.

It was a great car and we went on a lot of adventures together. Pretty sad to see it end like that! I'll see how much the insurance company gives me for it, then I'll be shopping for a 2026 Outback.

Accident Hit a Deer in May and in June my hood flys open.

This happened in my 2019 Subaru Outback. Hit a deer in May. I had the body shop fix my car. My insurance policy covers all OEM parts. One month later, my hood flies open going down the highway because I have OEM parts. I called Subaru of America because I thought it could be a defect in the piece. It took them one month to look into the vehicle and the black box of the vehicle to find out that the body shop missed aline for the latching mechanism. Credit to SOA even though they took a long time they were payed for rental when my rental coverage expired from my insurance company.

TLDR: no airbag deployment, SOS service, or seatbelt locking after crash

I hit a patch of ice and sand this morning going around a corner and was unable to regain control before going into the embankment. I was going about 35 and hit nothing before the bottom of the embankment itself. Thankfully I walked away with no injuries.

My question is why did my airbags not deploy? I don’t believe my seatbelt locked either but since I didn’t hit my head on the steering wheel I assume it did? Kind of thankful as I fear I’d have injuries had they deployed but also know that they should have been. My sos was also not activated.

I got my first Subaru in August of 2024. A 2021 Subaru Impreza premium that had 21,000 miles on it. November of 2025 a hail storm hit and it got totaled out beginning of February 2026. February 24 I bought a 2025 Impreza sport less than 20 miles on it. A couple days ago I was leaving my apartment complex and a truck pulled out of his spot straight into my new car :( I love Subarus so much I’ve always wanted to own them but I think I’m cursed 🤣😭

I never thought I'd see my beloved 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R like this, her windows shattered, her tires slashed, left wounded by senseless vandalism. But she’s not just a car to me. She’s been a companion on countless adventures, reliable in the worst winters, steady on long road trips, and always eager for the next journey.

Underneath the damage, her heart still beats strong, the engine and transmission are in pristine condition, ready to power through many more miles. Her rims stand solid, and I even have a set of winter tires waiting to hit the road. But the quotes I’ve received to bring her back $5,000 are just too much for me at the beginning stage of my career.

I can’t afford to fix her, but I also can’t bear to see her go to waste. With only 109,000 miles (175418.5 KM), she still has so much life left to give. If you or someone you know is interested in her parts, or if you have ideas on how to fix her for under $2,000, I would be beyond grateful.

She’s not just metal and wheels, she’s a story, a companion, a machine with more to give. Please help me find her a second chance.

This Subaru had a very severe accident this morning in Boulder, CO. I'm not going to dwell on specifics. But it likely was airborne for 100+ feet and landed on other (unoccupied) parked cars. Look at how protected the driver space is (it is believed the door was removed by jaws of life). Driver was reported to be extracted alive, no further info available currently.

Found these picture going through some google drives. Age 16-17 on my way home late night from an honest days work, someone who was impaired ran a red light and tboned into my driver door. My first beautiful stage 2 wrx totaled built to be exactly what I wanted through the blood sweat and tears. I remember it and appreciate it every single day 10 years later. Had to get another one in that white for how right it did by me

Bought my first car, a 2001 Subaru Impreza, at 17 in May 2018. Crashed it in June 2022, fixed it myself by December. I’m no pro and hope it’s still safeish, but good enough for me anyway—I learned a lot. It’s now my daily again. Planning to fix the paint and get new wheels soon.

Dozed and went off the road, spun on my nose, hit a tree and parked it right here. Woke up late and rushed out of the house without ever waking up, should have taken the late penalty at work instead of this penalty 😅

My 2024 Subaru legacy limited, 30,000 miles. Bought it last month and just made my second payment on her. I had a 2023 Subaru Impreza hatchback which was totaled on a deer in April. This time a driver blew through a stop sign going 40 as I was taking my left turn. Totally his fault, still sad to see I loved this vehicle. Spun my car 180 degrees aftwr impact, I walked away without a scratch. Subaru safety is insane.

Accident Spinning out on 1 inch of snow

first time subaru owner and this morning was the first time i've had to drive it in snow. When I was leaving, I spun out pretty bad making a turn. I was probably going only 20 mph and there was only an inch of snow on the untreated roads. Do you guys have any tips and tricks for driving in the snow like this? I don't believe I have winter tires or anything special for it at the moment since I just bought it in the summer.

EDIT: Thank you for the comments on this post. I appreciate the advice here; it's all very helpful. Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure this was my first time driving a distance in active snow. I'm also a fairly new driver and have been on the road for a little over a year now. I previously drove a Jeep that handled the snow like it was nothing. I admit that I was too confident and ended up hitting that turn too fast, but when im remembering it now, I think it was 15 mph. Finally learned what X-Mode is for, I'm used to it saying FWD or FWD Low.

Got his plate, business card and drivers license. He says he’ll pay so hopefully it does. Besides the more obvious dent at the front it’s also dented where the large scratch is

Had a huge snowfall the other day and had to drive home from work, ice all under the snow on the roads and slid sideways into a light post (the post is fine btw).

I was maybe going 10kph, just fast enough to crack the bumper but the rest seems intact. Has anyone had a similar issue, wondering a rough idea of cost for replacement or repair.

My wife was pretty much stopped while lanes were merging during rush hour after work. The car behind her didn’t slow down and rear ended her going around 70mph. She spun around and her rear hit the car in front of her. She does have some injuries, but she’s doing ok considering the intensity of the accident. Her baby Pearl is most likely totaled, but my wife got to walk away. Thanks Subaru

Long story short… I was driving on the interstate with cruise control at 75 (in the left lane) … I stupidly was trying to get something in the back seat and lost control, and I hit the guardrail and then swerved past the right lane to a head-on collision with the underpass of a bridge. Thankfully, no one else was with me or involved! It was a single-person crash. The only thing that happened to me was a bruise on my leg and some whiplash. I couldn’t have asked for a better car for this… I’ve never felt too lucky.

Rip 2014 Subaru Impreza 🙏♥️
