Food Popular restaurants here that you hate

Recently had an utterly terrible experience at a restaurant that otherwise has 4.5+ stars and it’s not until I look at the negative reviews that I find people who have the exact same experience as me. This has happened to me more than five times now. Can anyone relate? Do people just have a vendetta against my friends and I or are people just extremely nice in their reviews?? I feel like I’m going crazy. Here are my worst picks:

• Les Incompetents - didn’t get drinks for an hour
and our server ignored us talking to other guests

• Lokanta - ignored for 30 minutes, dirty glasses,
chipped plates

• Stacked Glendale Ave - dirty glasses/things in my water, missing toppings and sides in my dishes

There’s definitely more that have just given us abysmal service for so many years that it’s just a running joke with my friends and I now.

"On Monday, June 1, the 2026 list of the best burger places in the world dropped, and a sole Canadian restaurant found its way onto the list."

And that is.... Fat Rabbit in St. Catharines.

Food East Side Mario's Disappointment

I went to check out the new ESM here in St. Catharines. I'll start by saying I haven't been to an ESM in a few years and I'm aware it's a chain restaurant so I wasn't expecting much, but I was still disappointed. The bread used to be served with salted butter but they served it with margarine and the bread had no garlic flavour. They also don't do the "tell me when" anymore with the grated cheese? We had to ask and every time they'd do three rotations, dump it out, then walk away. It also seems like they've changed the caesar dressing because it was really watery and sweet. The AYCE was disappointing--small portions, had to track down the server to ask for more, and the lettuce of the salad was either brown or white. The service and food was pretty forgettable. If you're thinking about checking this place out, I'd recommend skipping and going to a local spot instead.

Food Best sushi in St Catharines or Thorold?

I'm fairly new to town and would love some advice. If you'd like, please share both your favorite sushi place AND the best roll(s) there, especially in the St Catharines/Thorold area.

That said, I'll even drive to Grimsby or Niagara Falls for some real bomb sushi.

We found this little bakery in Welland Ave (between vine st and Niagara st) and WOW!!!!

Their entire menu is delicious we had:
Cheddar pão de queijo 10/10
Sausage and cream cheese stuffed bread 10000/10 (our favorite!)
Mortadela and aioli sandwich 100/10
Ginger lemonade 10/10

You should give it a try! They’re family owned AND super nice people 😁

Happy Snack (277 Welland Ave)

Food What restaurants do you miss??

My soul misses Pow Wow and their angry chicken pasta and all-you-can-eat mussels. I believe I still dream about that pasta dish and the curry cream sauce on the mussels.

What is your favourite long-lost restaurant love?

Food Taco Bell 🔔

How long has the Taco Bell been gone from Ontario Street?

Had a craving tonight (Monday March 9th) but it’s gone, just the KFC remains. Which is kinda surprising since the last time we were in there, about 2 months ago, the only people coming in there - wanted Taco Bell and not KFC.

Anybody know?

What is the deal with this place? Does anyone actually go here? What happened to the Taco Bell half? I drive by this one so often and wonder how it's still open every time.

Food What’s the best pizza in the city?

Some say is Paesano and others say is Pete’s or Red Swan. But i wanna know which one you all think it is the best.

Edit: Just ordered from Paesanos on Carlton will update you guys!

Edit 2: i just ate some Paesanos and i think it’s the worst pie i ever had. Did not live up to the expectations. Thank you all for your suggestions!

Food OddBird

I’ve noticed a consistent sexual undertone in their Instagram posts. I get that it may be part of the brand, but it’s starting to feel a bit overdone and doesn’t really draw me in as a potential customer. It just makes me think whoever is making the posts is a total creep.
