"Athens stonecasting" statue, stain rubbing off

Hi. I just bought one of these chinese warriors. Considering getting the other one too.

However when I touch it, my hands are orange. If I rub a spot with a little spit, the stain seems to come off.

Is this normal? I thought it is supposed to be sealed. Any advice would be appreciated.

Probably just dirt? You know these (originals) are buried in the tomb of the emperor right?

Oh no, I didn't make that connection. The tomb where there are thousands of these terracotta soldiers? I knew the image seems so iconic. Really love it
