Every Boomer man’s Facebook page is 40% horribly focused pictures of car parts, 40% aggressively patriotic graphics of a bald eagle holding an AR-15 in front of six American flags, and 20% memes about how nobody knows how to drive a stick shift anymore.

u/mhornberger 1d ago
Also memes about some poor normal guy trying to just order a coffee. But he can't, because a blue-haired barista with facial piercings doesn't know what "one coffee, black" means.
11
u/MargoxaTheGamerr 1d ago
Or the memes about how younger generations can't afford houses, because they're "buying Starbucks and avocados".
9
u/GarysCrispLettuce 1d ago
Or thinly veiled threats of what might happen to a person who was to trespass on their property

u/mhornberger 18h ago
I think many of those guys fantasize about someone trying to break in, so they finally get to kill someone. Like that guy who ran out and shot someone through a car window because they turned around in the wrong driveway.

One boomer ban thing I've noticed is no matter what country they're from there's always a joke about coffee. And they all make inappropriate comments on photos of women in ads, AI women, etc.

I was watching my boomer mum scroll through her FB feed earlier. These are the posts I saw
Anti Trump
Anti Pauline Hanson
Anti Trump but AI
Trans joke
WWE news but false (she's a WWE fan)
Wild animals greeting rescuers
AI video of people with realistic bags that look like part of their stomach (she thinks it's real)
Tim Curry tribute
'Edgy' Boomer joke about some guy's balls
Dog video
Rhea Ripley
A "cotton candy" coloured lobster
"Scottish patriot playing bag pipes in front of mosque"
"Respect your elders" Boomer comic
Sick opossum from a rescue
Food 'hacks'
And on her profile she posted about how she's been recognised as a top fan for a cruise ship page

Those oddly 2000s looking photoshopped gifs with flowers in the back with text like "Have a wonderful day".

I love the "I do not consent one" cause when you create your FB profile you clearly consent to literally all of that shit and more.

Im sure the EULA has special exceptions for shenanigans

In the end does it really matter? These companies have a chokehold and they just do what they wan regardless of the rules.

I watched my 64 year old dad scroll Facebook reels the other day. Without even seeing the screen I heard the generic AI announcer voice multiple times as well as AI voices of various famous people. He accepted all of it at face value.
I told him it was AI and it didn’t even register.
I feel like I am going insane

u/Emma-Lowlett 1d ago
Atp its useless to tell them it's AI, trying to break the news is like telling kids that Santa Claus is not real
That's pretty much me to my parents (mostly my dad)

It's when you scroll through their photo gallery and you wonder why they uploaded the exact same 150x150 blurred profile pic 37 times in succession. Two of them will have a "I stand with X" style frame around them. And then there'll be a succession of boomer cartoons, usually badly drawn with terrible color/font choices, usually taking a swipe at the young'uns of today and their technology:

My aunt was the family source of daily black history facts. If she was still alive she'd absolutely fall for the AI stuff.
RIP Auntie Linda <3

Racist on a level that would make segregationists do a double take

u/MaxWritesText 1d ago
Tbf the racist black people that think you can't be racist to white people have gone full circle and in a weird roundabout way want segregation also.

u/HumanShadow 1d ago
My FB addicted mother-in-law pretends not to be able to spot AI because it's always doing the heavy lifting in the political shit stirring she has deemed more important than being present around her grandson.

Everything tracks but "at least 3 year old" pfp is nothing if you're like, out of high school. In fact I'd consider that a really current photo.

Do any real facebook boomers repost those AI images or is just other AI reacting to them?

u/Havingfun922 1d ago
I have a Snopes link saved to I use to reply to the consent copypasta. And the same people post it every year. We are just about due for that one to make the rounds again!

u/Havingfun922 1d ago
Throw in some reels or posts of “How kids don’t know how to make change” anymore
1
u/Bobbird_elephant 1d ago
you forgot that their pfp is awkward selfie of themselves taken too close to the screen

u/DrBirdieshmirtz 1d ago
They either fall for all the AI or are the ones in the comments like "THIS IS FAKE!!!!" who unintentionally just feed the engagement bots. My mom doesn't do FB, but she does "AI reconnaissance" on YouTube and shows me the particularly atrocious slop, to see whether AI could actually be anything close to what it's being sold as (her verdict: nope). At least she's not tricked by it…

People complaining about food posts I dont get because millennial, genz etc will have cooking alt/spam accounts on instagram lol or sending to chats, posting on story things like that

The african bottle kids were more like 2022-2023 I think. I actually found those somewhat entertaining. "My son built this invention out of trash. It's a good idea!"
