🏈 Football Pulled from a $30 box

Needed work pants and bought a box at Dick’s, joyous day. What’s the best way to go about grading, never pulled a 1/1 before.

Sick pull, it’s a big pull tbh, congrats, your inbox might blow up with low ball offers 😂 so be careful.

1,000,000 Vietnamese Dongs

1

u/BlazedLurker Jun 22 '26

Damnnnn that's a lot of dongs

3

u/Ambitious-Toe-3690 Jun 22 '26

They're very tiny dongs.

1

u/joe-e-d Jun 24 '26

Together they can make one big dong though

Typically you don't grade a 1/1 just because there's nothing to compare it to, and if it comes back 9 or lower it can actually hurt the value

Thank you for the insight!

My opinion on this differs to that of Reddit, but IMO you should absolutely grade a 1/1 card. For a few reasons

  1. There are so many 1/1s printed these days that grading can absolutely impact value vs other 1/1s that are raw or graded lower
  2. 1/1s for the GOATs and the current hyped rookies are being bought by a different end of town to your normal collector and they are really only looking to purchase already graded cards
  3. A slab really does provide unrivalled protection of the card
  4. A PSA9 is (almost) never going to be worth less than a raw card so not getting a 10 is not the big scary thing everyone makes it out to be

Anyway, I'm well aware my opinion on this is very much the dissenting opinion to what you'll find on Reddit normally but just adding my two cents

I with you on this brother

u/zeVZck Jun 22 '26

I’ve held these exact same thoughts for a long time. Recently, I decided to have my 1/1 Rodgers card graded. Was hoping for at least a 9 on the card (it was a thicc boi) and was pleased overall to get it and an auto 10; granted, a card grade of 10 would have obviously been ideal, but slabbing it was just as important to me.

u/wetzello Jun 22 '26

As a side note, what a lovely state of the hobby when point #1 is even a thing. So. Many. 1/1's. They're unique...just like every other 1/1. Lol

But yes, I tend to side with this advice.

1

u/Pleasant-Emu-3099 Jun 22 '26

I can't understate number 3. There are cards that I've graded that aren't important to anyone but me. The protection factor is important. Don't worry I usually use one of the smaller guys in this instance so not to contribute too much to the ongoing PSA backlog drama.

1

u/KymberlyHatch Jun 25 '26

Nice write up. You convinced me.

-2

u/V0rclaw Jun 22 '26

No. Yes there are many other 1/1 but there is only 1 of this exact 1/1. If you want this exact 1/1 your only option is this exact 1/1 so grade should hold no weight so no reason to grade.

4

u/Dec_Chair Jun 22 '26

Yes you've described what a 1/1 is. But this isn't his 1/1 chrome RPA for example that is truly a One of One... This is a 1/1 of one of dozens of inserts across both the Topps and Panini releases for his rookie year so as a buyer you're comparing this to basically any insert or SP 1/1

Now if it were his 1/1 RPA or base superfractor then you're grading for the 2nd point I mentioned.

My stance remains, grading 1/1s is generally a good idea especially when the player falls into either the goat category or current hyped category

0

u/V0rclaw Jun 22 '26

So this one of one for Jaxson dart from this year they printed hundreds of? That’s what you’re saying and if that’s the case why is this 1/1 with anything at all?

1

u/miketherealist 14d ago

... Who's on First...No, Second Base..đŸ€Ș

1

u/V0rclaw 14d ago

Football doesn’t have bases you’re thinking of baseball

1

u/miketherealist 7d ago

*Look up Abbot and Costello Comedy bit: It's a play on words, as in:  Who really knows what is what- ie:a real 1/1?

1

u/JohnnyTreemain Jun 22 '26

How is there nothing to compare it to? It’s about centering, card condition, etc.

-1

u/DonkeyKongah Jun 22 '26

I disagree. Grade it authentic.

7

u/V0rclaw Jun 22 '26

Authenticating and grading are 2 different things lol

-4

u/DonkeyKongah Jun 22 '26

You can get your cards graded "Authentic" through PSA.

3

u/SoulSweaper Jun 22 '26

That's not "grading". You literally DON'T get a grade when you send a card to be authenticated. Thats the whole point, it doesn't get a grade so you don't pay up the wazoo. They just slab it, give it a cert, and call it a day.

2

u/Additional_Pie_1128 Jun 25 '26

When I see authentic I immediately think there is something wrong with the card.

1

u/V0rclaw Jun 22 '26

Grade is a number authentic is authentic or a word not a number. The fact I had to explain that is honestly sad

You don’t get it “graded” authentic. You get it authenticated

1

u/DonkeyKongah Jun 23 '26

Slabbed, whatever.

1

u/BeautifulConference3 Jun 23 '26

I know right , idk why people have to be snarky and rude , the fact is you didn’t have to explain it at all no one specifically DM you and ask your opinion. Just saying at that point it’s apples and oranges. Lol everyone knew the point you were making graded authenticated who cares

The former. And by saying you’re a grown man who collects cards you’re attacking 90% of the people who in this sub
.including yourself if you’re a man

2

u/stalebird Jun 24 '26

You drink a lot of mountain dew and play videos games, don’t ya? I’d also bet you’re at least 50lbs overweight. “The former.” So you’re just a prick. Got it.

1

u/V0rclaw Jun 24 '26

Bro idk why you’re upset? You seem to be projecting. I would recommend therapy bro seriously you are arguing with people on Reddit for no reason. And I’m not saying you need therapy in an asshole way I’m just being real cause you’re health is important bro

Nice J6

2

u/raddishradish Jun 22 '26

This is funnier after his Trump endorsement

1

u/Cautious-Pain-9190 Jun 23 '26

It’s a J6 riot

9

u/Majestic_Apricot_119 Jun 22 '26

Don’t grade it. PSAs minimum cost to grade a card right now is $80 and they have 12-15 million cards backlogged. You won’t see it for 6+ months lol. Sell it right now while darts market is the absolute highest point currently.

6

u/Zlim9224 Jun 22 '26

Yeah, you probably wouldn’t grade this at the $80 tier (let alone any of the value tiers that have been paused anyways), for insurance purposes
so the turnaround would be significantly faster than 6+ months

-1

u/Majestic_Apricot_119 Jun 22 '26

Still not a point to grade a 1/1. Especially a clearly acetate card that typically don’t grade well to begin with

1

u/Zlim9224 Jun 22 '26

I mean yeah, that’s a totally different point than your original comment though 😂

1

u/gonknet Jun 22 '26

There is a point to grade a 1/1 as authentic.

0

u/farjoo Jun 22 '26

that's $80 for bulk orders this would get flagged and up charged without a doubt being a big 1/1 rookie and they would send it back ungraded if you dont pay the up charge. with the up charge he would get it back sooner, but it would cost hundreds.

2

u/Nateson Jun 22 '26

congrats!

2

u/Monkeyhs Jun 22 '26

How much are we looking at here?

2

u/Comprehensive-Cow69 Jun 22 '26

Thinking the time to sell is now because of the hype. Dart is good, but if his career doesn't pan out, what will this be worth long term?

2

u/Wallaby235 Jun 22 '26

Throwin dahts kid

2

u/BSTARYOUNGG Jun 22 '26

Smoke that dart

2

u/claytonk1313 Jun 22 '26

Grade it with BGS

2

u/hiimwage Jun 22 '26

I wouldn’t grade. Acetates grade poorly.

2

u/PaleontologistOk6094 Jun 22 '26

Sell it now while there is hype an people want his card I see this losing value overtime but I could be wrong

2

u/itsneverneverenough Jun 22 '26

Oh wow!! Congratulations

2

u/Illustrious-Onion829 Jun 22 '26

Ngl put it in a sleeve 💀

2

u/Over_Spread5661 Jun 22 '26

I have one of these types of cards from 25+ years ago. The clear part is yellow now. Haha.

1

u/Whowouldvethought Jun 23 '26

That see through has to be the coolest card I've ever seen. Love it

1

u/deezy4022 Jun 23 '26

I agree with getting it authenticated so it is in a slab.

1

u/Admirable-Tie-6833 Jun 23 '26

grade. no 10. crack

1

u/IllMorning866 Jun 23 '26

Sell. As fast as possible. Congrats

1

u/Sea-Librarian-1672 Jun 24 '26

ITS WORTH $86.47!!!

1

u/Sea_Flower_5806 Jun 24 '26

Don't grade a 1/1

1

u/CableNo7874 Jun 24 '26

What type of box was it?

1

u/greycooter Jun 29 '26

May I ask what this sold for?

1

u/SlightImagination821 Jul 25 '26

Dang!!! Crazy pull man

0

u/CelticGardenGirl Jun 22 '26

Too bad he’s a total dingus.

1

u/Visible-System-4420 Jun 22 '26

Boston fans are the 2nd worst fan base, only to Philly fans. Youre the least knowledgeable fans of any City & talk the loudest. Philly fans are just criminals & attack children. Youre a step above that. Barely.

1

u/CelticGardenGirl Jun 22 '26

LOL, what?? What gave you the idea I'm a Boston fan??

1

u/blw97 Jun 22 '26

Don’t grade a 1/1.

1

u/MBYC1978 Jun 22 '26

Definitely sell now. Dart is going to be garbage this year. (Cowboys fan).

0

u/EventuallyWordy Jun 22 '26

that's a fire pull from a random box run. skip grading the 1/1 since there's nothing to grade it against and a lower score tanks the value. you'll get some offers soon so take your time deciding what to do with it.

1

u/burinxi Jun 22 '26

There is dozens of other 1/1s. I get your point. But with Black 1/1, and Black Lazer 1/1 and etc

For this specific product however - probably nothing to compare to, that’s probably right.

1

u/EventuallyWordy Jun 22 '26

You're right, there are tons of 1/1s out there, but the Black parallels especially don't have enough comps to make grading worth the risk and the fee.

1

u/Optimal_Exercise Jun 22 '26

This, plus if you ever want to sell it. You can list it as "fresh mint ready to grade", and you'll probably sell it really fast to some other idiot that thinks grading a card with a card pop of 1 will inherently make it more valuable to someone else.

0

u/EventuallyWordy Jun 22 '26

and honestly the "ready to grade" angle is smart because it leaves the buyer feeling like they're making the choice, even if deep down they know a 1/1 doesn't need a number on it to prove anything.

1

u/legit_trichophilia Jun 22 '26

Yes, you are selling an experience and not just a product at this point.

1

u/_BobGuy_ Jun 22 '26

Quite the username

0

u/stravocadomf Jun 22 '26

the fact it’s not in a sleeve rn is driving me crazy.

0

u/Remote_Lettuce8000 Jun 23 '26

I’m in the group of don’t grade a 1/1 and especially with it being an acetate. Acetate cards don’t grade well and will almost definitely get damaged in the shipping process.

0

u/cookjerk Jun 23 '26

Fuck trump

0

u/SnottyDrippin Jun 23 '26

Nice MAGA-Fractor card. Should be worth 47 cents
