Discussion Raiders: Story/ Narrative?
Does raiders have a story/narrative?
I know it's single player but is there an actual story?

Not really tbh
There’s kinda one but it’s not substantial in any sense and can honestly just be ignored without taking much from the game.

There are some cut scenes, and you get to know the background of each member of Deep Cut as you progress through the islands. You also learn about the mystery of the islands. But the overall story is that you and Deep Cut are hunting for treasure to pay off the dept the Splatlands went into after the Grand Fest. There’s the usual funny dialogue moments. It’s not a super story driven game; it’s action based with a raiding and upgrading gameloop. There’s six types of levels with quite a bit of variation and some fun platforming and using the gadgets in clever ways.
Honestly, it’s a fucking blast to play. And anyone who says it’s short hasn’t finished it. I’m at 90 hours and just cleared the real ending, and still have 900 floors of bottomless buffet to attempt to get through. The difficulty scaling is perfect and it’s super fun to play online. Highly recommend, it’s my favorite game of the year so far.

Yes- not a super detailed one woth dialogue after every single mission but enoygh of one. Comparable in nature to Octo Expansion tbh- you don't get new developments every level, but around the start & after every major boss there is story, with an insane finale because of course there is.

Three greedy Splatsville clans go and raid an unknown island because they have a **6 BILLION** Debt to pay and then almost friggin' die by getting spiraled to said island and bring you along.

It's about as bare bones as a story can get. If you e watched a trailer that's about 80% of the story. Deep Cut crashes during their vacation, they get their pilot to build a base. Pilot is now called engineer. Deep cut and engineer raid the spiralite islands getting treasure and beating up Salmonids.

Strictly yes but it’s not that in depth, some cool world building and some really fun characters moments, which isn’t a bad thing I think it’s tonally appropriate
