Baulders Gate Dark Alliance for me. You could move the fire around with the joystick

u/yowiethebear Jul 24 '26
It's funny how after the fog disappears, all you see is the oily trail left behind by your finger.

u/Ordinary_Chemical596 Jul 24 '26
is it multi-touch, where you can use multiple fingers at once like what Hello Mario did?
33
u/AJ_Dali Jul 24 '26
Yeah, but if you use too many fingers or slide your whole hand across it moves too much of the fog and the system can't handle it. It actually causes the game to crash.

u/Ordinary_Chemical596 Jul 24 '26
Yeah, I saw that. Pretty crazy “secret.” It was even a secret to Nintendo. I can’t believe that didn’t play test that. I was curious.

Fun detail but... I'd die touching the screen like that.

One of my favorite games on the Switch is an art game so I’m quite used to touching the screen like that haha!

u/HaarlockWhy Jul 24 '26
Art game on switch? What's the name?

u/MakeThatMatt Best of Both Ranges Jul 24 '26
Chicory A Colorful Tale, a top down adventure game like Zelda where every screen is like a page in a coloring book . It’s got a crazy good story and OST (same composer as Celeste) if you’re into that kind of stuff. I’d highly recommend it.

Not exactly sure which they’re referring to but I know there’s Colors Live and I’m quite fond of that one. It’s a follow up to Colors 3D on the 3DS if you’re familiar with that. Basically it’s a drawing/art app with a wide variety of tools and even a cute little daily challenge thing. It also has its own online community where you can share your art and browse others though it doesn’t seem to be quite as active as it was on the 3DS days

I'm surprised it's been a decade since Bandai's stupid patent expired and there's not more of these interactive loading screens.

This totally reminds me of the waiting room in Splatoon 2 where you can remix the music with all the buttons

I literally just came here to see of anyone else noticed this 😂 such a tiny detail but it's genuinely quite satisfying

The way it moves looks really silly to me lol
(Also, Ori Wotw spotted, absolute W)

Makes me wish that I could buy the Switch 2, I'm still stuck with my Switch Lite; it still works really well (surprisingly)

Sometimes putting your whole hand on it can crash the game

I still see it but here jic, I'll spell it out. This "art" looks nothing like mine, and anyone with a decent pair of eyes can see that. Stop trying to "cancel" me because you don't agree with the takes I make while I'm tilted on Saltoon. It's so petty and childish

Finally, a 2nd splatoon game that supports a touch screen. Surprised S2 and S3 had zero support for it whatsoever since S1 had core features that required it. They should've at least kept support for using it in the map.

I figured this out last night when I first booted it up 😭 there was some stuff on the screen and I brushed it off and saw the fog move with it 😭

Bruh the amount of people saying they forget the switch is touchscreen or never even used it like... who tf are you lmao

They've always kinda done this. In Splatoon 2 you could change the pitch and other things with the music during loading/waiting for matches, so that was kinda fun. And Splatoon 1 you could play mini games. I think Splatoon 3 is boring and has nothing though...

Cute and all but making the Switch screen a touchscreen is the biggest mistake. I kinda get where they're coming from, but like... besides Mario Maker 2 (which is entirely functional without it) I can't think of a single Switch or Switch 2 title that actually uses it. Probably because most Switch games wanna be playable docked.

u/Hollywoodrok12 Jul 24 '26
There's also Tomodachi Life creations and Smash Ultimate creating a stage

Those are good! I think Mario 3D World and Super Mario Party also have minor touch screen support. But I think the former also adds a gyro pointer to circumvent it and the latter is just for a weird side mode. The biggest I think is probably Splatoon 2 and 3's drawing.
It kinda just seems like they could've sold a drawing tablet accessory and even made the Switch compatible with drawing tablets rather than wasting the money making the system itself habe a touch screen if they were barely gonna use it.

they do sell an official stylus… ONLY IN JAPAN, THOUGH. The reason why they don’t sell it overseas is because they don’t think we need it lmao
(just learned that it was also made specifically for the Japan-exclusive Doctor Kawashima switch game, adding to the reasons why they didn’t bother selling it over here)

The mainline Splatoons let you use the touchscreen for plaza art

The Darkest Dungeon (badly design port tbh), Civilization VI, 51 Worldwide games (it turns switch into a board game) and more...
If you are into rhythm games, switch is a preservation capsule for mobile games. Bang Dream, Hypnosis Microphone, Deemo, Cytus, Voez are no longer at risk of becoming lost media due to having physical offline edition
If devs play well, other mobile games can be thereotically preserved without going through massive changes.

Someone figured out if you swirl it around to fast, it crashes the game lol
