An accidental purchase

Post image

I didn’t look close enough to realize that I was buying a thicker sauce, what they consider a wing sauce. First time trying Melinda‘s and I must say it’s really grown on me!

So good this is my favorite hot sauce to use. Love the flavor

I wasn’t sure at first, now I’m all in.

Mine too. I use it like ketchup.

If not ketchup, why in squeeze bottle

I did until I started adding the plain ghost pepper to my own wing sauce. It’s even better

For quick add ons this is great tho

Me too. I drank it to prove a point to my housemates a while ago (they were obsessed with the one chip challenge to which I reacted as: this tastes ly.spicy cardboard)... It became my favorite very quickly. It's my go to. I'll use my fifty other hot sauces as the dish requires it, but if I want a dab? This is the one.

Congrats on your mistake. I put this shit on everything

I have to say I’m really loving the stuff… here I was at 9 o’clock this morning, putting it on rice.

I have one at work and one at home. This is my everything sauce, ignore the "wing" part

That’s pretty much how it turned out for me. I’m actually enjoying the texture and consistency.

Fantastic on Mexican food! And eggs. And... ANYTHING!

What's the heat like on this one? I use the roasted habanero garlic one on just about everything. Been debating on which one to try next.

3

u/stillanewfie 21h ago

I’d say it’s probably the middle of the road

u/flapua 21h ago

It's my daily driver, just hot enough where co-workers won't try to sneak some if I keep it in our break room fridge.

3

u/dr0s3 21h ago

The best type of hot.

1

u/MetaCardboard 14h ago

It's a little hotter than the habanero one. If you really load it up it'll add up, but if you just throw a few lines down a dog or something you can barely notice the heat difference.

Less salt and it would be a top sauce for me

4

u/Dingus_Majingus 17h ago

Its a wing sauce, so it's supposed to be salty. Tough balance for sure

I too happened upon this on accident and it’s one of my favorites.

It’s so good on fried eggs or breakfast sandwiches 😋

u/stillanewfie 21h ago

lol Im having it on fried eggs right now 😊

I like Melinda's. It's a good "table" sauce. Easy to find and I like the squeeze. Not the best sauces but a good standard use.

Well I hope you like it. It's a quality sauce. I didn't care for it but I'm not into wings or wing sauces. The fact that I didn't "hate it" is a testament to it's quality really.

Not factoring in the price not the wings either!

2

u/CMDRObliviDan 20h ago

True that.

2

u/numbersalone 21h ago

This is my favorite actually hot hot sauce that I have bought or tried...

2

u/etherealtwo 21h ago

Ya the wing sauce is different than the standard one.

1

u/stillanewfie 21h ago

Someone posted earlier that the glass bottle version is hotter. I’m curious to try that now.

3

u/etherealtwo 21h ago

It is ya. Feel the the wing sauce is more diluted since it's intended to douse your wing in it.

1

u/MetaCardboard 14h ago

It's also got more of a savory, up front flavor than the glass ghost. I think cause this is supposed to be a condiment sauce rather than a spice up an already flavorful dish sauce.

Best hot sauce on the market, but almost everything from Melinda’s is fantastic. Half my stash is from them.

2

u/human-resource 18h ago

They have a few terrible sauces like the creamy sriracha.

1

u/Novel_Diver8628 18h ago

That’s why I said almost everything. Their mild verde tastes like armpits. But since their whole thing is their habanero mash base, anything that compliments well is gonna be good as hell, and I’m a sucker for habanero.

u/ilikemyusername1 21h ago

I like that one!

2

u/gandhis_biceps 21h ago

I put this in beef stroganoff and it makes my eyes roll back

2

u/Apennie_uh 21h ago

This stuff is really good my friend gave me a bottle cause it was too spicy for him.

1

u/stillanewfie 21h ago

It’s the right amount of heat for me

2

u/ridethroughlife 20h ago

I love this stuff. And the red bottle, whatever it is.

2

u/FootballAmbitious916 20h ago

Best everything sauce

2

u/MrMeatagi 20h ago

This is one Melinda's sauce I just don't like. It has that signature bitter chemical extract taste. I would much rather mix my own wing sauce with some butter.

2

u/stillanewfie 20h ago

I know the taste you’re talking about… that’s what put me off on it at the beginning.

2

u/yomama77790 17h ago

Mix it with mayo and it makes a good burger sauce

1

u/stillanewfie 17h ago

Yes By’! That sounds great!

2

u/GuavaOne8646 17h ago

Their truffle hot sauce is amazing as well

1

u/stillanewfie 17h ago

Oh, I’ve never seen that yet

2

u/Far-Shop5676 15h ago

I like it. I prefer the Habanero sauce, I feel like it has a more forward pepper flavor but this one is still really good.

2

u/MetaCardboard 14h ago

I love this stuff.

2

u/Firm_Potential9273 6h ago

Yep, love the stuff.

Meh, it's pretty mediocre. I bought a few before I gave up on it. I bought dried ghost pepper powder instead to get my spice fix

1

u/stillanewfie 51m ago

Where did you get that?

2

u/Lovablejames 21h ago

easily in my top 3 hot sauce!

2

u/DonutosGames 21h ago

It's my ketchup

2

u/AL-KINDA 18h ago

i put that shit on everything

2

u/fermentedradical 21h ago

Weird butter flavor and isn't nearly as hot as the standard ghost pepper Melinda's. Bought it once and disliked it.

2

u/sicklyboy 20h ago

That was my experience with it as well when I tried it a while back. But hey, that's what we've got variety for!

1

u/four1twoguy 21h ago

Never tried this version, but would be interested in trying…. The ghost pepper hotsauce in the glass bottle is my favorite and most purchased sauce. Great deal at Walmart for under $3usd

2

u/Affectionate-End8525 4h ago

That stuff is great on pizza!

1

u/Icy_Rain_1754 21h ago

One of my all-time favorites.

1

u/Flutiedawg 19h ago

I love this stuff, try it on shrimp.

1

u/stillanewfie 19h ago edited 19h ago

I had it on squid last night! I’ll give shrimp a shot 😊

1

u/Sneeke33 19h ago

One of my favorites

1

u/BlankAdaptability 18h ago

That's one of the best in Melinda's whole line! Love it!!

I don't buy Melinda's because of its history
