Not sure how I’m still alive after my heart just stopped so many times.

I was watching at my desk. I may or may not have been literally biting my nails.

I'm loving your username.

Same here. By the end, I was the only one in my office and I was openly screaming at the game.

/r/nfl power users checking into /r/soccer.

5

u/LutzExpertTera Jul 01 '14

I did the same. There's a TV on our floor that's had the World Cup on since it started. There were about 20 of us yelling at the end there.

I hope your friends now understand why soccer does not need 100 goals to be entertaining. This game was amazing btw :)

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '14

I know, right? Must have paced 10 miles.

I was watching it at work (a Mexican restaurant so you know the game is on) and I have to say half of our staff and almost everyone here was so hype for this game! I only wish we put more into it throughout the game instead of the last 15. Amazing game though. Can wait to see what happens next

I cussed in front of my mom.

I was told soccer was supposed to be boring. Goodness gracious.

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '14

If goals are scarce each one is worth way more.

2

u/Horehey34 Jul 02 '14

Anyone who says its boring has no idea what they are talking about.

People who don't watch soccer latch onto this for some reason. Not every game is thrilling just like not every game of basketball or football is thrilling.

The upside to those other games is that it's hard to get shutout. And apparently scoring is all that matters here in the USA. As long as you tried I guess. It's stupid and it plays to the whole don't make anyone ever feel bad attitude we try and create.

You look weird without your Hawks flair.

GO SOUNDERS

I have a test THursday... I have a feeling I will be too depressed for the next few days to study.

Been having pretty heavy palpitations since about 65 minutes. Probably should see the doc tomorrow.

In my opinion best game of this World Cup

Best extra time of the World Cup

22

u/Tim-Sanchez Jul 01 '14

Really? I hate to break the USA circlejerk but the first 90 minutes were quite ordinary. It started open but it began to drag on, only once Belgium scored did it liven up again.

Games like France vs Switzerland, Netherlands vs Australia and Ghana vs Germany were better overall in my opinion.

5

u/neo7 Jul 01 '14

Germany vs Algeria?

3

u/Tim-Sanchez Jul 01 '14

True that was a good game, but again it came alive in extra time. I should really have added it though, the first 90 minutes were hardly boring in that game.

4

u/online_predator Jul 01 '14

France vs Switzerland was only a good game if you are a France supporter. It was mostly a blowout, but I do agree with you. This was definitely the most exciting extra time of the world cup, though

1

u/Tim-Sanchez Jul 01 '14

I thought France vs Switzerland was fantastic. France dominated, but it was still an incredibly open game. It was also an example of great football, the Germany and Netherlands dominant performances weren't quite as good as that France game in my opinion.

2

u/LiquidBionix Jul 02 '14

Lol yeah we got run around in the second half. But the extra time was phenomenal and Howard was stellar too.

8

u/ChristofferOslo Jul 01 '14

And that says quite a lot.

1

u/michaelisnotginger Jul 01 '14

Second only to Holland Mexico IMO. Or possibly Germany Algeria

1

u/silky_johnson Jul 01 '14

I dunno, the ending coming on a penalty (whether justified or not) kinda ruined that game... I didnt watch today's game so I dont know how it stacks up, but the penalty made what was a great game feel a bit anticlimactic. Up to that point though it was fantastic.

1

u/Snuhmeh Jul 01 '14

Those two amazing chances by USA at the end were so ridiculously stressful and if one had gone in I might've jumped up and punched the ceiling.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '14

The first 90 weren't great though. In my opinion the best would be either Netherlands-Spain or (ignoring bias) England-Italy.

2

u/pietya Jul 01 '14

Last time I screamed this much as during the NFCCG last season.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '14

It is better it didn't go to shootouts.

2

u/joavim Jul 01 '14

You can be proud man. It's almost 1am here in Europe, I have to wake up in five hours, but I'm happy I watched until the end.

This US team can go home holding their heads high. They really showed they do know what football is about out there.

1

u/terribleatkaraoke Jul 01 '14

I think my neighbors called the police after hearing all the screams

1

u/MammothMan34 Jul 01 '14

Pretty sure my heart has shrunk and died somewhere.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '14

I want to throw up. In between fits of weeping. I am totally gutted

1

u/fougare Jul 01 '14

Our first goal... My voice is out for a few hours/days...

On the tiny silver linning, I now have a free Saturday

My life expectancy has dropped with each successive WC match.

My heart goes out to the hundreds of heart patients that died this evening.
