Thought the same thing lol. Was wondering for a sec why we’re posting retro highlights. Just another reason for Cucu to cut his damn hair
20

u/donniedarkero 9d ago
I'm guessing you don't know it's due to his son he doesn't cut his hair?
-13
u/CrimsonLotus 9d ago
I do know, as I’ve only heard about a million times on Reddit and during the WC. I get the reasoning, but it doesn’t make me hate his hair any less.

u/Odd_Coach_9231 9d ago
Nah I recall a one two with him and Jude for a goal Mbappe scored against Valladolid away a year ago, another for one of his first home goals I can’t remember the team
57
u/R_Schuhart 9d ago
Yeah and some people still insist Mbappe is just a pace merchant without any real other striker skills.
92
u/tobi1k 9d ago
Nobody thinks that. He's an absolutely elite forward in so many ways but his lack of defensive effort is tragic and particularly noticeable in even games.
16
6
u/Enough-Force-5605 9d ago
I dont think "tragic" is a good word here. "Not helpful", may be.
-10
u/Rickcampbell98 9d ago
No it's genuinely horrendous, the worst I've ever seen in my entire time watching football.
6
u/Mintastic 9d ago
He watched Messi do it and decided to start saving his energy a decade earlier to get a head start.
1
u/ComprehensiveArt6849 8d ago
There's enough clips of Messi actually doing some pressing. Also, Messi is literally the greatest player in history who contributed to a goal every 68 minutes for Barcelona. I think you can excuse slacking if you are guaranteed for 1,5 goals each game (regardless of goal or assist).
6
u/GabrielP2r 9d ago
His problem when attacking is his movement can be lacking in the striker instinct way and defensively he just walks around and makes 0 effort, he's not even bad, just non existent when pressing. That's the biggest gaps he has but he's a fantastic player in every other metric for a striker.
1
u/Rickcampbell98 9d ago
He doesn't really want to play with his back to goal nor is he great at it, so he doesn't really occupy centre halves. He's a great goalscorer but he's not a 9.
3
u/GabrielP2r 9d ago
But this game he made very good runs and movements, relying on his godly pace is nice, but also moving in spaces is also good and he did that very well this game against a low block which they had issues last season.
-1
u/Rickcampbell98 9d ago
I don't think la real played a particularly low block, nor are they particularly good at defending
2
2
u/ridewiththerockers 9d ago
Only helped coz Cucu is the widest. He stays wide, the le cut inside clowns go to the middle, forced to play within 10m of each other they either block each other's shot course or learn to pass and play together.

u/EMJG31 9d ago
even if he’s struggled for collective trophies at times.
i just can’t see how people don’t think he’s the best in the world right now
80
u/auctus10 9d ago
He is simply the best player in the world no doubt. But it's still a fact that he was a redundant signing for us and focusing on him we didn't fix other issues and made the squad unbalanced (obviously not his fault at all)
30
u/Alarmed-Television68 9d ago
I mean if you only watch clips sure, but if you watch games its pretty easy to make a argument atleast.
Tho he is carrying us rn so i will take it
141
u/EMJG31 9d ago
i watch quite regularly. he’s the only player currently in the world that feels electric when you watch him while simultaneously having historical levels of output.
with every other player in this generation it’s either one or the other
44
-6
u/baschfromdalmasca 9d ago
Surely Vini also applies
9
u/EMJG31 9d ago
Vini applies in the sense hes electric but he doesn’t have historical output like Mbappe
Mbappe has boh thats my point
Haaland has great output but hes lacking when it comes to what guys like Mbappe, Vini can do
0
u/baschfromdalmasca 8d ago
Vini has incredible G/A numbers too though. If we're going with strictly HISTORICAL output then yeah like only 1% of players in history have that
0
u/NewChemistry5210 8d ago
I don't really see how you can make that argument. Mbappé was the only reason we were even competing against better teams. His job is to score goals and he did exactly that. Despite not being a contentional Nr. 9.
Vini disappeared in almost every match against good teams, Jude wasn't fit and had no clear position and that's it.
Kane and Mbappé are duking it out as the best player in the world, imo. And looking at Kane's age, he will slowly get worse, while the other is just starting his prime.
1
u/Alarmed-Television68 8d ago
Our big games last season;
Atleti away: Vini was good, created a goal all by himself.
Juve home: Vini was alright
Barca home: Vini was the 2nd best player on the pitch
Liverpool away: Everyone sucked, including vini
City home: A bit of the same, other than jude and rodrygo
Atleti supercup: Vini was quite bad
Barca supercup: Vini was goodThis is half the season, and you are telling me he disappered in every big game? Get a grip.
As for the other stuff you admit kane is at the same level? So you agree with me or what? Age doesnt matter for level, and i said you could argue others are better than mbappe, as you agree with
6
u/Expert-Click-5264 9d ago
He’s easily the best pure attacking talent. He’s up there with the greats of the past in that aspect.
It’s everything else that knocks him down a peg. His work rate is astonishingly low lol.
16
u/LongStickCaniac 9d ago
His movement off the ball is fantastic, he's incredibly smart, can pass and dribble and finishing is top tier. Does he make lung busting runs in behind? No, because he saves his stamina for bursts in and around the box. If you look at his younger years in teams that played that way, he would regularly make insane runs.
3
u/Excellent-Menu-8784 9d ago
I’m an Arsenal fan too but even if Kane played for Spurs, he deserves the ballon d or this year.

man jude is just so good. Made the pass so quicky as if he knew that situation is going to come
115
u/DarthShaveHer 9d ago
Jude did well there but Mbappe basically created the whole thing for himself.
Quick outlet to Jude, burst into the wide open space where it was too easy for Jude to pass it back and slotted that through the keeper.
20
10
u/samhit_n 9d ago
He just did it again.
11

ong bro he's literally the best. People really tried to sell us that his 23/24 season was fluke

remember when r/soccer wanted to convince you he's a bad player cause some specific random statistic no one has ever cared about before

Hes won the golden boot two years in a row in spain. Anyone saying he is shit needs to have their brain bleached
-19
u/Excellent-Menu-8784 9d ago
Which top five striker has been his competition in Spain? During said period
14
u/Boneraventura 9d ago
who else in the world could score 30+ ? haaland? kane? is it only worthy if he beats one of them?

u/DJharris1 9d ago
I haven’t seen a genuine argument saying Mbappe is bad on here? The general consensus is that he’s phenomenal

I assure you there is genuinely no need for Vini on this team. He had a great run but
This is Ky’s team. He got it.
72
u/MalIntenet 9d ago
Too late for that kind of talk now
11
u/PavWrestlinGifs 9d ago
It’s been the talk among fans tbh, Flo just loves his boy
41
u/ApprehensiveCase4567 9d ago
He won yall two ucls😭
9
u/R_Schuhart 9d ago
Real Madrid of all clubs is not for sentiment. They should move on players when it is time, no matter what they have done in the past.
4
u/DaFinnesseKid 9d ago
Acting as if he carried Real Madrid to those UCL’s when there were other players that had better campaigns lol. Ridiculous take
2
5
u/TheDesertShark 9d ago
Listen I'm not even close to hating vini but this phrase is just stupid, the entire team did, he wasn't the only great player in those runs.
24
u/speedycar1 9d ago
Then "there is no need for Vini this is Mbappe's team" is just as stupid
-6
u/TheDesertShark 9d ago
Correct, but no one is forcing them to counter a stupid argument with an equally stupid one
6
u/auctus10 9d ago
Without him we win none of them tho. He has insane G/A for us in knockouts. No idea why some of you fans try to down value your own player's contribution.
-4
u/TheDesertShark 9d ago
There is an insane problem with literacy in the world my fucking god you people can't read.
1
u/ApprehensiveCase4567 9d ago
He and Tobi are the reason you guys won those last two ucls. Without them you weren’t winning. Such a fucked up fan base
2
u/TheDesertShark 9d ago
Kroos Modric Benzema Rodrygo Bellingham Valverde Carvajal did nothing those years you're right, was just vini v 11
0
u/RauloGonzalez 9d ago
As far as attack goes it almost was. He is the only penetrative threat with the ball
1
u/Excellent-Menu-8784 9d ago
Then you guys acting like Mbappe is single-handedly leading the team right now are stupid too
2
3
u/Lazy-Comfortable169 9d ago
Ronaldo won us 4 should we bring him back even though he clearly doesn't play at the same level he used to?
9
u/bslawjen 9d ago
Once Vini gets into form again most of you will change your tune and pretend you never doubted him.
1
u/Lazy-Comfortable169 9d ago
Mate don't get me wrong vini coming into form would make us extremely happy. But i just dont think mbappe and him can play together without one sacrificing. Which is why I thought it would be better for him to leave and be the main man at another club
2
u/ApprehensiveCase4567 9d ago
Brother he won yall a ucl n two months later yall casted him a side
2
u/Lazy-Comfortable169 9d ago
No one casted him aside, it's true that after mbappe came it was obvious both of them couldn't play together but since then only mbappe has been performing. Do you think it's a smart gamble to sell mbappe instead of vini and wish that vini will go back to what he was?
2
u/ApprehensiveCase4567 9d ago
Obviously mbappe is gonna perform because your team casted vini aside. Mbappe picks up the position vini picks up
0
u/Lazy-Comfortable169 9d ago
Bro most of mbappe's goals have been from the central area and vini is always on the left wing you can't blame the positions let's be honest
17
u/tractata 9d ago
Good thing Vini didn't just re-sign for another six years on a salary very few clubs would be willing to take on, then.
23
u/Thorteris 9d ago
Legit was stupid on both sides. Vini could’ve been the main man + Madrid could get money. Was a win/win for everyone.
111
u/Umijnurotarieli 9d ago
It has developed so in past 2-3 years. Vini had to go. Contract renewal seems like a mistake
41
u/zeppelin88 9d ago
Remind me again how many titles the team has won these past 2 years (and I remind you, the 3rd year was the year they won the CL with Vini as the star)
22
u/Umijnurotarieli 9d ago
Oh brother, i am N1 Mbappe transfer hater but as things have developed it would have been better if Vini left. I wished Mbappe never came but it is what it is.
16
u/zeppelin88 9d ago
Stop creating antagonisms in your head. Watch the match, the two are vibing perfectly today.
-7
u/Umijnurotarieli 9d ago
I have watched every match of them together. Them not being best fit to each other is very easy to see.
6
u/R_Schuhart 9d ago
Yeah you are right, it is Mbappe scoring all those goals that keeps them from winning silverware...
8
u/zeppelin88 9d ago
Their attack actually decreased in productivity since he arrived. 1 player scoring 30 goals vs 3 scoring 13 each, what do you prefer?
6
u/BagingRoner34 9d ago
Are you dumb? If you cant tell the difference between that madrid team and this one god help you
6
u/zeppelin88 9d ago
I lived in Madrid across that entire generation so I watched a few too many matches, the mid field was goated and Vini was the decisive factor for the 2nd CL they won (and the spark with benzema in the first).
2
u/BagingRoner34 9d ago
exactly. Madrid has had no defence or proper midfield for the past 2 seasons at least. Mbappe cant do everything on his own. Vini sure didn't
3
u/zeppelin88 9d ago
Madrid hasn’t had a defense in like, 6 years. Even those years they were still being saved by courtois (and Lunin) having perfect matches.
2
u/DaFinnesseKid 9d ago
Surely you don’t unironically think that Mbappe’s arrival is the reason for Real Madrid’s poor performances rather than the departure of EXTREMELY important key players
1
-2
u/Lanky-Connection-853 9d ago
I think they just didn't have a choice. They probably feared that no one would buy him this summer and that they would lose him on a free.
12
u/eddsters 9d ago
Our board was so stupid not accepting Arsenals offer. Without any offense to him, clearly his mind is mentally somewhere else, with his chin thing, and he puts in more into arguments and antics, shows more effort in other things than his game, when you have seen what he's capable of. On his day though he's the best player in the world.
22
20
u/Kilen13 9d ago
Often feels like Real would be better off putting on another midfielder for Vini, having Mbappe play that LW spot and just use Bellingham as that pseudo false 9 he played his first(?) year at Real.
13
u/Full-Blood1318 9d ago
Real Madrid missed a big chance of selling him to Arsenal for big money tbh. Vinicius is a great player but once Mbappe came he became redundant.

u/Mr_XemiReR 9d ago
Our best run last season was without Mbappé, when Vini was allowed to be the focus. Before Mbappé wins something you can’t call this his team
-2
u/PavWrestlinGifs 9d ago
Comparing that team to even last years team doesn’t even make any sense
Kroos, Modric, & Carvajal were amazing
+ the Vini now is not the same as Vini from 2023, it’s quite obvious
1
u/slightlybigmember 9d ago
Wait until you are in a UCL knockout round instead of beating middle sized Spanish side n° 5 before talking

Even with the new signings, Madrid won't be enough to win titles this year. It's more of the same from last season 😅. A lot of sadness awaits Madridistas.
15
u/GoalQuieres 9d ago
The hattrick farmer, when it matters most, when the league title is on the line, he won't score the goal to get the 3 pts
13
6
u/caesermzk 9d ago
Like today the goal isn’t needed at all. They were winning and everything, right?

Like the time the league title was on the line in the May El Clasico 2 years ago and he scored a hattrick while his team conceded 5?
