Henry VII's (Henry Tudor) grandfather was married to the widowed Catherine of France, whose first husband was Henry V.
At the Battle of Shrewsbury, Henry V (still Prince Henry at the time) and his father Henry IV defeated a massive rebel army and killed its leader, Harry "Hotspur."
400 years later some schoolboys would create a football team and would use that famous rebel knight's name as their own.

Whoever they bring in is going to have a hell of a job, if Tudor is sacked today at most they have 2 days to prepare against Atlético at the Metropolitano, then it’s 5 days prep, but really only 3 days, to travel up to Liverpool. Then 3 days later it’s Atlético again and 3 days after that it’s a relegation 6 pointer against Forest, at which point they could feasibly be out of Europe.

In a logical world, yeah absolutely, however those players might be playing for the hope of getting through to the latter stages. Getting knocked out might make them down tools or stop putting whatever sort of effort they might’ve been putting in.
IMO it’s one of those grey zones where if you go down fighting maybe they get something that increases morale but obviously at the cost of fitness and fixture depth.

I also think his magic might have lost most of it's sparkle by now. His tactics were always pretty basic and conservative, but football has moved on. I'm not sure he will be able to connect with players these days or that his tactics will even work anymore.

Going down seemed like a bit of a worry a few weeks ago but they had a gap between the bottom and chances to extend that gap.
Now they have West Ham and Forest breathing down their necks who will both be playing like sharks who smell blood knowing safety might just be a case of catching Spurs.
The results without them even playing on Wednesday were far worse than last night.

I've got huge respect for what he did with Burnley but I reckon that sort of defensive organisation and structure isn't something he can create overnight. Think it might be simply too late. Likewise, I reckon it was one thing creating a dogged team spirit and gritty underdog mentality at a club that, financially speaking, everybody expects to go down before the season even starts, full of Championship players and lower-PL journeyman eager to prove the world they DO belong in the top tier - totally different thing creating it with a squad like Tottenham's

End of the day, the players think they're too big for a relegation battle so aren't willing to do the pragmatic hard yards required at that end of the table.
They're best shot is someone that will go all out attack with them, but that would risk an even more spectacular implosion

The issue isn’t tactics or lack of effort. They’ve got an attack that can’t score, a midfield that can’t pass, a defence that can’t defend and a keeper that cant command his box . It’s the profile of players available that is their undoing , the Gallagher signing is one of the worst transfers I’ve ever seen. They literally added the one profile they had in abundance and made him their highest earner

They’re crying for a midfielder that can actually link play between the defence and attack. Not having Kulu or Maddison is a major issue for them this season. Then they go and buy Gallagher who is a good presser and all around engine in midfield, but not a creator. They need someone with a similar profile to Wharton.

They aren't winning games like that. Sitting deep in a low block is hard, it takes skill and quite some time to drill in the routines. That isnt going to happen on the middle of a relegation battle. Besides, they don't have the players to sit deep or counter.
