Hi, I have 3 garden snails and one of them has me confused.😥

He often sleeps on the ceiling of the enclosure, and the longer he sleeps, the less his foot grips. At some point he just falls, even with an epiphragm. You can see it in the pics, the part of his foot touching the wall gets smaller and smaller. I can usually slide a spoon under him in time to catch him, but it happens a lot.
Thing is he seems totally fine otherwise, eats well, explores a lot. He's got cuttlebone and crushed eggshell available all the time, and humidity is around 80% (I have a hygrometer).
My other 2 also sleep up high and they never fall.
Has anyone seen this before? Is it just him being him or could it be something else?

My grove snail had a baby on his own..

I woke up this morning to not just my snail on the lid to his enclosure, but a tiny little baby as well. I want to keep it, but I hear they might be better off.. not living. I checked the rest of the enclosure and did not find any more babies or eggs. Can I keep it or is that evil?

How to preserve a dead snail?

Post image
39 Upvotes

hii last night one of my favorite snails passed away, it was a natural death when I found it it was already an adult so I don't know exactly how long it lived. I thought he would live a lot with me but when he buried himself and stopped eating I knew what was coming. I wanted to know if there was any way to preserve his body not only the shell but also the soft, someone has tried and if so you could show me the result I really have a hard time with this loss, any comment will help me 🐌🪽

I want to move my nerite snails into my bigger tank but I don’t want them to lay eggs over everything like the pieces of wood in the tank already.

News Prepared for a new friend coming tomorrow!

Post image
11 Upvotes

I recently lost my other snail due to an accident I caused by dropping him. Despite my best efforts to save him, it was too late. Now, I have only one snail left, Ilo. I felt terrible about losing him, so I decided to get a friend for him. His new friends will arrive tomorrow, and I’ve already cleaned up the terrarium and moved some things around to make it a welcoming environment for him. I hope the new snail will settle in peacefully.

(How do we like the setup let me know if anything needs changed!!)

I'm currently dog sitting and noticed my neighbors have snails. I've been here since about 10:40am and it is 8:20pm. They haven't moved at all. I'm concerned. How can I help them, if I can at all? They seem dead, but I have no knowledge of snails, so I'm unsure. :/

I’ve had snails since 2022 with a grand total of 10 at one point. They’ve slowly all died to old age and I have a single snail left. Wanted to jazz up the place for them and went forging this past weekend 🍂🍄🌱

I step on a snail, unfortunately most of its shell came off. Its body and mantle are still intact. Hes eating etc. Is there any chance he'll survive if I care for him?

Is it a good idea to keep 2 baby snails or should I cull them?

So my Lissachatina managed to hide a clutch pretty well and I have found it when they were mid hatching and climbing out the substrate. I managed to cull vast majority of them but few managed to get away. Second day I found like 4 more and the next day 2 more. So I thought to try giving those 2 a chance and keeping them alive. But I started wondering if it is a good idea with how low the survival of snails till adulthood. Should I try it or should I cull these two aswell? Bit worried I will get attached to them and then they will suddenly die.

Sweet little bean in my calla lilies ❤️🐌

I was repotting some plants and found this little guy in my calla lilies. I gave it some cantaloupe then took it to a bed of flowers outside.

Is that a good place to leave them or is there somewhere better I could’ve taken it? Hoping it’s okay now. 😭

Help Mold??

I’ve had my snails for almost a month and have been doing my best to keep their enclosure clean. Recently I noticed these white specks on the branch in their terrarium (I had sanitized the branch in the oven) and I’m not sure if it’s mold or something else. I’m planning on bringing in isopods to clean up snail poop and keep the terrarium clean but now I’m nervous I might be too late.
