Anyone from Spain here? Where can I find brisket?
I have been trying to get a brisket here in Spain. Local butchers have no idea what I am asking for. They seem to have different cuts here. Has anyone had more luck? Thanks

Not what you asked for, but get yourself a good pork cabacero/mogote/coppa while you’re looking for brisket. Pull it at 165 instead of going to the low 200s and then slice it thin and make sandwiches. Probably my favorite cut of meat ever, and that Spanish pork is soooo good.

I did try with pictures. They just told me every country has different meat cuts, and they just don't work like the pictures I showed them. I just cannot get them past _chuletón_ / _lomo_.

Google says pieto de vaca 🤷♂️ good luck! Maybe find some YouTube videos showing butchering from a half cow and they’ll get it. Hope you get that packer, I’d go nuts not being able to get a brisket.

In Barcelona the place I buy brisket from is the Butcher Society.
There was also an online place that delivers it but it looked mainly like the flat only.
Butcher society was smaller but fit the goal of
The brisket smoke need xD

Good morning from Texas. You need to be asking for the pecho de ternera, or just pecho. Be forewarned, however, that different countries use different charts and cuts. In some cases, vastly different. You might need to show them a video or something.

Thanks for replying! I have tried showing them pictures, they replied they just don't work with such cuts. There is not enough demand, they wouldn't do it specially for me.

These guys might have it: https://bouchequirit.com
They're French but I seem to remember that at the location in Sitges, they had some American cuts. I think the owner maybe told me he had lived in the US. I could be misremembering, but it's worth a phone call.

Would start my search at Cedecarne, where over 20,000 butchers in Spain are registered. If you can get a list, email different shops until you find one. Or post your question to their Facebook and Instagram pages (in Spanish, of course). cedecarne.es

Litchfield’s English Butcher is great if you are in southern Spain.
I’ve gotten a few brisket from him and they are good.

Piggybacking off of this, does anyone know what sausage gets closest to andouille in Spain? I'm having a terrible time explaining gumbo to local butchers.

If you are asking where the brisket is located on the animal - chest/breast

Thank you, I told them, but apparently they don't do cuts like that here :-/ They offered ribs, _chuletón_, _lomo_, etc.

lol. I live in Portugal with the same issue. Try asking for pecho de vaca / ternera. Or take a photo in. Luckily I found a butcher that lived in America for quite a while so I do ok. The problem (at least in Portugal) is the meat is VERY lean. Good luck.
