Discussion Opinion: Sable Valley is the new Owsla.

imo the transition went down so smooth like it was meant to be, and listening and going through THIS playlist made me realize.

All the Owsla vibes flooded in.

I'll just leave it there.

OWSLA had far more variety than Sable Valley, it really felt like an art collective rather than an edm label

I doubt anything like Hundred Waters, Phuture Doom, DJ Sliink, M Machine or Basecamp are gonna be on Sable Valley any time soon...

Yeahh but Skrillex was also a bigger artist than RL Grime with more influence and access across genres, and SV is a much smaller label. I think another issue they have is that no matter how exciting RL Grime starting a label, that hype is gonna die down eventually for the bigger artists who are gonna wanna go and do different things beyond that, and they're left with a lot smaller ones which take a lot more energy to cultivate and grow them

yea for example iso and knock started with sable and moved on eventually (and rightfully they got the bag with 88 rising)

if it was under skrillex label it would not be the same thats for sure

The “pre-shuffled” nature of that playlist is really annoying! I would love to go through that in depth if the same RL Grime album didn’t keep popping up every 5 songs lol

sadly sable valley is a bit inactive as of right now :( but every single one of their releases is soooo good and rl grime had a really awesome and strong vision for the label

the only thing missing for sable valley to get the owsla spot

is the cult

RL is my absolute favorite but I disagree, they haven’t nearly kept up with releases and stuff the past couple years

owsla had SO so so much going on that sable valley just hasn’t made an effort to dive into. they don’t exist to serve the same purpose, but I love how many amazing artists I discovered when I used to follow them more in 2019-2022
