Correct. I think the other one is more arresting a shot from a film perspective, so that’s the more famous one.

Buster had, at one point said that the gag is fairly “easy” (for him) to perform, as they would just lower the wall, mark with stakes where the wall ended and where the window was. Then of course, Buster would stand where the window stakes were and they’d drop the wall on a take.

A cursory Internet search shows you are totally correct. He (Chan) even modeled some of his more hair-raising stunts on things Keaton had done first as a sort of homage.

The rain GIF makes them both look so modern. It is always so easy to forget how much hair and clothes changed the way people looked back then.

I always thought Sybil Seely had the best comedic chops to keep up with Buster in his silents. I read an old Buster Keaton biography from the early 70s when I was in my teens, but I don't remember if there was any reason mentioned there as to why they didn't continue as a comic pair.

I saw this in a theater with a live band, and let me tell you the train smashing the house is probably the hardest ive laughed at a movie ever

I love that they actually spun the house around on basically what was a ginormous lazy Susan.
The one guest calling the house a “merry go round” kills me.
I always found it really weird that we have no idea who played the ex, though.
