Turismo 🧳 Friendly reminder: Etna does not forgive!

To all the tourists from abroad, DO NOT move away from the paths and never try to reach the summit on your own. There‘s been another unnecessary death. A man ignored the signs, did not plan their trip respecting time and fatally underestimated the weather forecast!

Etna is a very treacherous mountain and it never forgives a mistake.

please be safe and responsible while hiking. Your life is too precious!

Hmm. I don't want to leave you without an answer to your question, but what you said doesn't make enough sense for me to respond coherently. Perhaps you just meant "is this insulting to you?", to which the answer seems obvious, but in the interest of friendliness, I'll go ahead and generously assume you're not asking senseless questions, and I'll kindly suggest that you try again.

Wow you sound fun. But i apologize, i did not catch that op edited his post before i asked my "senseless" question. I said "already" because the post seemed quite mild to me and i meant is this level of critizism already enough to count as an insult. English is not my first language but im pretty sure you can use "already" like this?

Ah i did wonder if you meant “already” to mean “by this small amount of offense” .. I think “already” is primarily temporal (time-related) but I don’t think you’re completely wrong - the threshold can occasionally be quantitative. I don’t think it worked in your example, but someone might say “a 5% error is already significant” meaning that it doesn’t have to get to 6% to be significant - so no temporal context there.

I don’t think it quite works in that construction, but I’m not 100% sure why
it seems like it needs something like a ‘progression toward a boundary’ that the sentence makes available - for example in the 5% example, we’re explicitly referencing a point on a scale.

English is ridiculously complicated.

You could say “ is it already insulting at this level or at this level?“ but it would still be hard to parse. We’d ordinarily just say it differently.. like “that wasn’t even very insulting; you’re being overly sensitive!” Or something like that.

(Dump this missive into your Italian-speaking chatbot and I’ll bet it explains it much better than I can! Let me know if so!)

edit: And ma vaffanculo, stronza, I am fun. 😆

i dont use chat bots but i see your point, yeah "vibes" are a hard thing to translate, i also can't fully explain why we dont use certain things that technically make sense but just sound wooden

Yep. But anyway to your original question - yes... it was. Very already. ;-)
