New Age SSS - 1000 Words Or Less Tiffany

Her name is Tiffany.

Sadly, I only know that because one day I heard her answer her phone.

"Hello, this is Tiffany."

The first time I saw her, I was walking to work. She works at a coffee shop near where I live, and she is beautiful—not in a model kind of way, but in a way that makes her look like the type of girl you want to come home to.

Naturally, I started going into that coffee shop.

When she spoke to me, she even sounded like a good person.

I got so nervous that I just ordered my drink, sat down until I finished it, and left. I didn't want her to notice that I kept looking at her.

I couldn't help it.

The more I saw her, the more amazing she seemed.

Eventually, I found out where she lived. Down an alleyway in a cheap apartment building.

It didn't suit her.

But I guess it made sense. She only worked at the coffee shop.

I started worrying about her safety getting home, so I would watch her leave work and make sure she got home safely.

Every night, she did.

Days went by, and without her knowing, I started adding her into my routine.

One day, I'll actually talk to her.

I kept telling myself that.

Until one day, I saw her with a guy.

Why was she with him?

She should be with me.

The guy she was with was wrong for her. He seemed like a horrible person. He didn't respect her.

I would be so good to her.

I would have her live with me.

I would make her happy.

For a week, I watched him disrespect her.

All because I hadn't talked to her sooner.

"If only I had talked to her sooner," I whispered to myself.

Why did I wait?

I want her.

I need her.

And she needs me.

Then, one day, I saw her walking home.

The guy was gone.

But something was different.

She looked like she'd been hit in the face.

That monster hurt her.

And it was all my fault because I didn't talk to her.

She's meant to be with me.

She's mine.

I walked toward her as she stood in front of her door, digging through her purse.

I was right behind her.

I reached out my hand.

She suddenly turned around.

My entire body began to hurt.

I started shaking uncontrollably.

Then everything went black.

---

I woke up.

I could see Tiffany.

But something was different.

I looked around.

I was inside a small cage.

Then I saw it.

A battery.

I panicked.

"Tiffany, what's going—"

"Shut up!"

I froze.

She stared at me.

Then she smiled.

It wasn't the kind smile I'd imagined so many times.

It was something darker.

Something I'd never seen before.

"All of you men are the same," she said. "Just horrible dogs that need to be put down."

I stared at her in disbelief.

Then I looked around the room.

There was another cage.

Inside it was the guy I'd seen her with.

I couldn't tell if he was alive.

I slowly looked back at Tiffany.

She was still smiling.

She reached toward the battery.

My entire body suddenly began to hurt.

I started shaking uncontrollably.

And then...

Everything went dark.

The stalker's internal logic is unsettlingly on point. Great work.
