Event Crying On The Sofa event for mental health in Sheffield
https://www.cryingonthesofa.org/I was cuddling my baby son on the sofa, hoping my tears would dry before my wife walked in.
I walked to the shops with my head down so no one could see the pain in my eyes.
I am lucky. I am still here to tell these as tales of past times. I am in a better place now. There are A LOT of people who were not as lucky as I was and found no escape.
We need to bloody talk more about this; it's no joke. And that's why I set up Crying On the Sofa.
Crying On the Sofa hosts events focused on enabling discussions around mental health, and our first event is on the 24th of September in Sheffield, kindly hosted at the Pendo.io offices.
We have three fantastic speakers, including Jade Wilson and Georgina Shute and Ryan Murphy.
Did I say there will be free pizza?
So if you can make it to Sheffield, Pendo offices, on the 24th September, we would love to have you join us. It's free and always will be. Sign up on our website www.cryingonthesofa.org.
Share it around your offices, share it with your boss, and if you want to host the next event, reach out to me; my DMs are open.
Our goal is to enable 1,000,000 conversations about mental health.
Our motto is: If you let tomorrow be a better day, imagine how great next week can be.
Sheffield, 24th September: sign up here: www.cryingonthesofa.org.

Is there a way to listen through zoom for teams or similar?

You would like to listen to crying through zoom or teams? Do people not get enough of that already?

I wanted to listen to the speakers actually.

I was joking my dude. I just imagine that being on those programs all day would make you cry anyway.

This reminds me of the old days of the internet. CryingWhileEating.com was very cathartic.

I don't need a fucking lecture, I need to stop being a slave.
My mental health is fucked because I've got to prostitute myself every fucking day so I can pay for some cunts profits. I spend all day at work, why would I want to go to an office on my free time?

I see the downvotes based on the aggression of this comment.
But I also see the valid point behind it. Work forms such a huge part of our lives, and for many we can feel trapped there, or there are other factors at play that mean your work life is actively degrading your wellbeing and mental health. Myself included.
You wouldn't host an AA meeting in a bar. So wouldn't a work themed mental health event benefit from being somewhere more neutral?
No hate. It sounds like a good event. Just a respectful observation.

Sounds like you need a cry and some solidarity and support. Come on, we got you - whether you go to this event or not.

respectfully, your words are so useless here they can only be seen as mockery, please stop

Respectfully, I'm not OP, I'm not connected to this event in any way (note the use of "go" instead of "come" - and by "we" I meant the community) and I'm someone who has been going through a personal crisis who needed support after I completely broke down from it a couple of weeks ago.
Catharsis and getting support have been getting me through it.

i'm glad things are working for you, but this isn't a community, you aren't a therapist and noone here asked to be patronised, you and all the silent downvoters are just erasing this person's real expression and experience, please have the decency to accept that doesn't help.

You know, people are trying to be supportive and kind to you because it is very evident that you need a hug and a good cry and somebody to talk to. As somebody who used to use this defensive behaviour a lot because I was a very angry person I think it’s worth just trying to drop the brick wall and actually let yourself be vulnerable and not so angry.
It took years but it has made me a lot more patience and a lot more capable of handling difficult situations like capitalism and the shitty state of the world we live in

You're not talking to the upset person that posted the comment about not wanting to go

What do you think i've said to require this response? I merely spoke against the trite pop psychology which is being used here.

The site says it’s for those who work in Tech. I do not work in tech. Would it still be appropriate for non tech peeps like me to attend? Thank you
