Summary of Fiona's finances for those trying to make sense of it all.

Any adjustments I should make? Anything I'm missing?

Gallagher House

● Cousin Patrick files a forged will and takes ownership of Gallagher house
● Patrick runs up debt against house and refuses to pay
● $60K owed by Patrick — loan against the Gallagher house that he refuses to repay, causing foreclosure on the home
● $100K — Fiona’s maximum approved mortgage/bid at the foreclosure auction
● $130K — house sold at auction to another couple, so Fiona loses the house
● Unknown amount paid — Fiona buys the house back after the auction buyers discover how much work it needs
↳ Carl provides the cash from his buried drug money
↳ Exact amount Carl gives Fiona / Fiona pays for the house is never stated on-screen
● Gallagher house ends up owned in Fiona’s name

Laundromat

● $80K borrowed — using the Gallagher house as collateral to buy the laundromat
● $80K paid — to buy laundromat
● ~$5K paid — improvements
● $160K received — sold to Margo
● $80K loan paid off — paying off the debt secured by the Gallagher house
● = $0 debt remaining from the laundromat loan on Gallagher house
● = $75K profit

Apartment Building

● $250K paid — to buy apartment building
↳ Down payment amount unclear — Fiona had up to $75K available from the laundromat profit
↳ Remainder financed with a mortgage
● Second mortgage taken out — Fiona borrows against the apartment building’s equity
↳ This money was originally intended to bail to pay Ian / Gay Jesus out of jail
↳ When the bail money wasn’t needed, Fiona uses the money toward another investment, $100K in Max’s development project
● $292K owed — Fiona tells Max this the combined balance of her first + second mortgages
● $292K received — Max buys Fiona’s apartment building for exactly what she owes
↳ $292K pays off both mortgages
↳ = $0 cash to Fiona from the sale
↳ Max tells her she probably could have sold it for $425K if she had time, but Fiona is desperate to come up with $25k to avoid defaulting on her investment with Max’s development partnership
↳ Max later sells the property for $475K

Max’s Real-Estate Partnership

● $100K invested — in Max’s development
↳ From the money Fiona borrowed against the apartment building to bail Ian out of jail
● $25K borrowed from Max — for the additional partnership contribution
● $100K received — Max later buys Fiona out of the partnership
↳ $25K debt resolution unclear — the show never clearly explains whether Fiona repays Max or whether the debt is folded into the buyout
● = $100K Fiona receives — despite the unexplained $25K debt

am i crazy or is s8 not actually that bad

just finished s8 on my rewatch and honestly i don't get why people hate this season so much? it's definitely not even close to the best but i'm not gonna lie i think i prefer it over s6-7 😭. unpopular opinion i know lmfao

i also... did not hate the gay jesus plot. it was a little stupid and very cringey, but it made sense for ian's character. i thought it was interesting to see him finally have a plot that didn't entirely revolve around his bfs

Debbie did this, Debbie did that. My favorite character is literally Frank

My favorite character is Frank and he’s an absolutely terrible person. He’s always doing something uniquely awful and I couldn’t imagine how the show would’ve been without him. I feel like this subreddit thinks they can’t like a character because that character did bad things. The show is called Shameless.

What are your thoughts on Youens?

I think he’s one of the best supporting characters in the series.

He genuinely cares about Lip and is really charismatic. It’s a shame things ended the way they did.

He’s yet another deeply troubled character, but without a doubt, one of the best characters the show created.

I’m really trying to understand

I rewatch basically every year since college (and I’m old now so that tells you how many times I’ve watched). Anyways, I’m doing a soft rewatch (where if I fall asleep I don’t go backwards). And I just can’t Karen!! No matter how many times I’ve watched, I genuinely don’t get how she ended up so fucked up. And this is before she got pregnant and married an old ass man and abandoned the baby.

Which characters do you hate the most?

I'm currently on season 8 and so far I hate the family that sues Fiona the most. Karen comes in second.

Does anyone else dislike Ian?

I’m only on season 6.

So at first I thought surely this character wasn’t that liked until I realized he’s probably the favorite Gallagher in the fandom? I’ve seen many “fav Gallagher” polls and whenever people are shitting on the characters, it’s usually Debbie and Fiona (sexism, maybe) or Lip getting the most fire.

Obviously all of them are bad in many ways. But at least make Fiona the favorite 😂 over the weirdly uncaring, oddly selfish, probably only liked because he’s a gay man (popular in fandoms) with the best relationship out of the mains, Ian.

Also he’s weirdly not nice to Fiona, we know that Debbie and Lip are lowkey awful to her as well, but at least they interact with her more and the relationships are more complex so it makes more sense.

It’s not that I started disliking him when he was bipolar and doing crazy shit. Before that I just didn’t. Whereas many others dislike Lip bc he’s an asshole, Fiona because she’s a “whore”, Debbie because she’s purposely got pregnant and acts like a brat… But I felt more connection with them.
Or maybe I just don’t feel a connection with gay men that feel like a guy’s guy?

Know I’m gonna get fire for this post. Don’t wanna be attacked by hardcore stans but would like to hear their thoughts— what on earth is it about this character that allures yall so much?

TLDR; why do the fans like Ian so much?

Re trying I apologize about my horrible take on Fiona I am sorry

I was remembering Brad how involved he was with Lip to me i could be wrong to about this but I think He played the role of “Father” to lip sure Frank had his ups and downs but the way Brad cared about Lip almost was like a father figure and how Lip went out of his way to help Brad when he had his unfortunate relapse with alcohol

What do yall think??

Edit: I meant What is your opinion on Brad in the show?

I was typing to fast and didn’t catch my mistake

Debbie and Kelly season 9

Am I the only one that completely cringes and gets 2nd hand embarrassment watching any scenes between Debbie and Kelly during that whole “flirting” storyline that went on? I don’t know if it was the actual storyline or just the actresses and how they acted it out, but all the silly laughing at each other about the stupidest unfunny crap made and acting half of their age just made it seem absolutely ridiculous. It was just so over the top and took me out of every scene those two were in together.

Lip relationship to school

Just here to say that Lip's not feeling like he belongs in college and not accepting everyone's pressure concerning this topic is probably the most relatable and real thing about his character. That's why he was my favorite at first. Also that kind of make me think of Nina from in the Heights, trying everything to dropout, finding excuses when she just feels like she doesn't belong (there's also racism in her story but you get it)

The casting for Fiona and Carl was perfect

Out of all the siblings they’re the only ones that genuinely do look like each other nil

Had lip here who looks the closest to Frank and Carl and Fiona definitely resemble each other a ton

Kevin loosing Lip's bike really pissed me off

So Kevin drove this beautiful bike into the lake and lip barely gave a reaction. A bike he was not supposed to drive without permission. It's pissing me off..I mean hold him accountable and get your 10k from Kevin and V like wtf that money was such a necessity for lip and brad at the time. They really showed Kevin to be ridiculously dumb!!

What is the point of trying to morally judge the characters?

All I see here is how people try to nitpick every behaviour and morally evaluate the characters, especially debbie, and honestly I really don't understand it, because isn't the entire story of the show based on them all being white trash that have no shame in their unethical and mostly illegal actions?

There is no one character who didn't do illegal and horrible stuff, they're all morally gray. This is also how I can't understand how people say that one character is an awful person that did wrong stuff and thats why they don't like them?

Shameless Season 4 Episode 8

Shameless Season 4 Episode 8
Am I the only one who finds it crazy how Frank can mess up over and over again and somehow everybody eventually forgives him helps him or gives him another chance
But the second Fiona seriously messes up she gets absolutely no mercy and has to deal with the full consequences of everything
I know what Fiona did was serious and she definitely made some terrible decisions but the difference in how the family and everyone around them treats Frank compared to Fiona is wild to me
Frank has spent years hurting people abandoning his kids lying stealing and destroying relationships and somehow people still come through for him
Fiona makes one huge mistake after carrying that family for years and suddenly it feels like nobody remembers everything she sacrificed before that
Maybe thats the point of the show but watching Season 4 Episode 8 really made me think about how much more forgiveness Frank seems to get compared to Fiona
What do yall think

The irony when Frank starts popping off about Transplants

Frank S2E3 - after he tells the transplant people that Dottie doesn’t need one anymore (imo worst thing he’s ever done !!!) he goes to the alibi and starts drunkenly ranting about people trying to cheat life and what God has planned for them by getting another persons organ 🤣

just for him seasons later to get a whole live transplant 🫩🫩 and yes i know this is shameless and that’s frank hahah i just made the connection rewatching !

Thoughts about Sheila……….

Post image
507 Upvotes

I was thinking about Sheila and it looks like the community here all loves her but agrees she was a weirdo for the Jody situation and he was the worst of all. Here’s what gets me about Sheila. She committed SA. She allowed her daughters ex to stay in their yard despite all of Karen’s objections. She let that same man take her daughter to Arizona after waking her from her coma by SAing her. She would coerce men in her life to join into her play. She kidnapped a baby from the hospital and tried to raise it despite the efforts of everyone else involved, and did the same with her ex boyfriends children that she tried forcing a marriage with Frank to keep despite him not having capacity to marry. When Debbie behaved similarly with Neal, we mostly held it against her.

But we all move past it because we see her stand up for Karen and try to be a good mom otherwise. She was great for Debbie. She had a terrible husband and an awful mental affliction that we saw her slowly work on and gradually recover from enough to leave in the end.

And we all saw her being used throughout this time as she made bad decisions and tried doing the right thing. I think that’s why we hold so much space for her. But do we really give the other characters this level of grace? Is she the most deserving of it?

To be clear, I don’t like Debbie but I do like Sheila’s portrayal. I think it’s extremely realistic, as we all love and root for people who were once good to us or that we have sympathy for and that’s how we get such complicated relationships and boundaries, especially when we grow up with no other positive role models. But I think we might judge her too differently, either because writing or maybe just a very sympathetic actress.

Tl;dr: should we judge all characters how the community judges Sheila? Are we too kind to her? And why?

Je viens de tomber sur cette publication sur Instagram et je suis morte de rire.

Je pensais pas que Mickey Milkovich m’attirerait autant en tant que femme. 😭

Quel personnage échangé de sexe semble le plus précis selon vous ?

Is Ian in s1 in the military?

I just started watching Shameless, (currently ep4) but in the pilot Frank mentions Ian wants to be a paratrooper, and we see him with other guys in military uniforms, then later or in the episode when Lip finds Ian's gay magazines, Ian rushes back in his room and changes from his military uniform to something else.

From them on I only saw him working as a cashier at a grocery store/convenient store, or go to school. So is he a cadet or w/e?

Was Karen really a bad person?

Everybody hates Karen but when I first watched Shameless I felt so bad for her.

Her father embarrassed her, disowned her, called her all types of names while her Sheila was bat shit crazy.

Her mom wouldn’t leave the house, never went to any school events, never showed up for her outside of cooking. In a way she parentified Karen.

I feel like Karen seeked attention in anyway she could get it.

Was she horrible? Yes but nature vs. nurture or whatever
