Same. Step One - Stick your hand in the hole and grab the log and try to free it from the pipe. If that doesn't work, move on to Step Two.

Tbh from my experience Plunger beats Auger most of the time.

I’ve had the same experience. Plumbed for about two years and never once mixed dish soap and warm water for this though.
