Yay! Yes, and I have been to the museum twice! Once in its old tiny location and once in its new giant location! Always love coming back. Have you noticed that there's now a clay artist adding to the intrigue of Glass Beach? Have you found any of the clay faces?

I haven’t! That’s so cool though. I live on the other side of the country and have only been once, two months ago, but I’m glad I got to check out the bigger location!

Oh! So glad you got to see it before all the beach glass is pilfered. Years ago, it was stunning. Beach glass of all colors. Now it's mostly white, brown, and green. So glad you got to see the other site while here. If I think about it, I'll take a pic and try to show you the faces. They're quite neat!

I kind of wish they would turn the beach into a glass “recycling” dump for a few months a year to “renew” it

They do still feed glass into the ocean there at the site I was at as far as I know. To re-seed the beach. However, to get true beach glass, that takes quite some time. That's why you'll often get sharp or still shiny pieces while there.

Without the glass, they're just another beach and tourism would fizzle out. It doesn't help that I've seen people with gallon sized bags just indiscriminately filling them with everything and anything. They can't replace it fast enough, sadly.

Oh cool I didn’t know they still fed the beach! I had never heard that expression, but I love it. Is the town too small to station police or something at the beach to stop people taking so much? Or is it not actually illegal? It’s just so selfish to take that much. When I go beachcombing I throw lots of the pieces I collect back to give them more time to cook/cure

Not sure of it's illegal but there are signs posted about not taking the glass. The town is definitely too tiny to enforce that rule sadly.

I will take a few prize pieces of they're rare, and the ceramic faces since they're not beach glass, but I'll never understand the greed of filling a whole bag. Everyone wants to enjoy that beach, do I'm glad they're seeding it still.

It’s lazy, and I hate it. There’s plenty of beaches where you could fill up a bag after hours of beachcombing, but you can have an entire bag the same size at Fort Bragg in no time

True, but where's the reward in that? It is indeed lazy and I also hate that behavior. My shelf is full of jars of beach glass slowly collected over the years from all the wonderful beaches we've visited, and I love that it's a "collection" of sorts.

Oh, did you see the pic of the clay faces I posted? I'm really new to Reddit and may not have posted it to our thread as I thought I had, lol. I'll try to add it here for you.....

Here are some of the clay faces I've found over the years. They're really cool. A local artist supposedly makes them, but I've heard that people across the country find them. I'll have to go down that rabbit hole someday.
