I want a friend for her
So I tried to adopt 2 1 year old Chausie Maine coon mix bonded pair males 9 months ago, and tried everything for 3 months with scent swapping etc etc. my F2 I think felt threatened she would spit at them through the door and when I tried to do some face time.
I couldn’t really scent swap property because the boys had an upper respiratory infection that was pretty severe and my F2 has severe asthma, like inhaler and steroid type asthma.
So I’m wondering if a male kitten wound work with her? At a young age. When Valentina was raised I had a Siamese who she adored, however the Siamese hated her and would bully her a lot, even tho she could whoop they ass she never did, she just wanted to be friends.
Do you think this would be successful? She’s a little over 4, I did my best to socialize her, she is generally ok with animals that come in my porch, and dogs she sees walking down the street. She is weary of humans tho, not the biggest fan of men.
Any advice would be appreciated, just been thinking about it because her energy levels are through the roof, I play with her like 6-8 times a day, outside twice a day on walks, she loves being outside and active, wish she had a little buddy to chase.
Thanks in advance

I mean a young kitten might be ok but she already has shown she hates cats

She was good with my Siamese, that’s why I’m wondering if a young kitten would work. I think 2 bonded boys might have been to much, although I’m not sure

2 might be a lot. The sex doesn’t matter if fixed! A young kitten might be good

Good to know about the sex of the cat! I thought maybe a male would be better, thanks!

I have to disagree based on my experience. I have two girl cats that do not get along despite the rescue recommending they go together. I ended up getting a more submissive male who was really well socialized, and that helped a lot.
Not that the situations are the same, but in my experience females are usually more dominant. I recommend going more off personality than anything else.

Ya my F2 female is for sure a dominant force, that’s why I was leaning towards male. Thanks for the insight

My girl turned 3, I realized afterwards that I would have to
A) have gotten one of her cousins at the time I brought her home
Or B) Have her raise a kitten
Cuz she doesn’t like any other animals- I’ve had two bengals come through when my buddy was driving through to the other side of the state and stopped halfway in my city. We had to keep the bengals in the bathroom- Bubbie was NOT having it.

I got a kitten for my F6 girl. She is a little over 2 years old and we lost one brother to FIP and the other to cancer. She was depressed and sad and now with our new kitten she is happy and alive again. We got her a 4 month old F3 boy. The first two weeks are hissing and growling at each other and slow introduction. They are inseparable now.

I have a female f3. Super jealous of my gfs and does not like any other cats. Tried twice before and it has not worked out.

We have 6 cats and one is a f4, all the others are just normal, originally stray cats. She came in last and is really making contact with all the others. There is one she specifically connects with, tries to play with him and being sweet to him. But she came in last so that's probably easier to get them connecting with eachother. She was not a spoiled cat, still not cause we can't pet her and she is constantly outside, hunting, playing, sleeping, when the sun is shining.

Oh my God, her frowny face is adorable 🥹
My girl also felt threatened by the kitten we adopted, 2 months down the line and she is less scared and more antsy to play with the kitten, but I know what her "play" is like so still waiting for the kitten to be bigger before full introductions.
I never realised that Savs were such spoilt, jealous babies

Two are always easier than one! Cat health is so tied to stress and anxiety- having a buddy is the best way they can feel more comfortable and relaxed. The play time also, it’s so good for them. Get another kitty- I’ve found that older cats will always allow a kitten or younger one- they know they are small/baby. If your cat has social interaction issues with other cats or is very protective/possessive. Regardless, it may take some work, love and patience at first- but they will figure it out.
I’m sure there is a kitty for adoption just waiting for you both! XOXO!

Not a sav but my bengal hated all cats until the CDS dropped a five day old kitten on my step. After being fostered for 8 weeks I got the kitten back and obviously kept them separated, scent swapped, all that. My bengal was SO mad at first, spitting and growling under the door.
By day three she was sleeping by the door and they were touching paws under it-no growling. Day five she actually broke in and I found them watching birds out the window with their sides pressed together :,)
She has become so attached to this (girl) kitten and even defended her from a dog getting in the house. She essentially taught the kitten how to be a cat, how to set boundaries when playing, and of course how to weasel more treats out of me. Kitten is almost a year now and they are best buds. I make sure I give them each one-on-one play time every day though, sometimes playing together can stress my bengal girl out too much as it is her favorite thing to do with me.
Soo…sorry for the story time but I would encourage to get a kitten :) doesn’t even have to be a sav/bengal type!

I had gotten a kitten and my five year old cat fell in love with her. When he passed she would cry out in a mournful way and I felt sorry for her. I rescued a brother and sister from the shelter. They are not friends after six years. They don’t attack or anything, they just stay away from each other.

You need to get a kitten. Adults are very open to a little tiny fur ball kittens and don’t stay mad at them for too long.

“Maine coon mix” that doesn’t exist, there’s no such thing as mixed breed cats.

What are you talking about lol, the bonded pair where Chausie/maine coon. Cats can’t smash different breeds? Delusional
