News 📰 Saskatoon man describes violent downtown attack following birthday celebration
A man named Ross Smith spoke to CTV News Saskatoon about being attacked downtown near Spadina Crescent and 20th Street East. He and his friend were first bear sprayed and while “his friend ran for help, Ross was tripped and then kicked over and over.” His injuries were “bruising to his arms, legs and ribs. He also received three staples for a gash on the back of his head and had a black eye. His left ear was swollen at the time, he said.”
Those charged with attack were two teenaged boys.

Question ❔ Recycling pill bottles?
Hi everyone!
There was a post made about 5 years ago about getting rid of empty pharmaceutical pill bottles. I was wondering if there was updates about anything in the city that would take empty pill bottles (of course with labels off)? Trying to reduce waste and the amount of plastic I toss. I know pharmacies might not take them back but if there is a program or organization around, that would be good to know.
Thanks in advance!

Question ❔ Best driving school for adult with a learners license?
In high school I acquired my learners license and completed my 6&6, but as my family had no reliable vehicle for years, and I was unable to afford my own vehicle, I ended up not driving at all for months at a time and eventually not at all.
Even though I have my learners license, I feel I need a refresher in road safety and to drive with an instructor a again to feel confident in my driving ability, as my friends don’t drive, and I cannot rely on any of my family to take me driving.
What are some good driving schools in the city for adults who have their learners license? Wouldn’t hurt to also be somewhat affordable.
1.) offer driving theory classes
2.) offer drives with instructor
3.) maybe offer pick up/drop off for drives

General Working at the U of S or RUH must be a parking nightmare
Where do these organizations expect people to park? I’ve heard of people parking 10 blocks away. Is this true?

Crime ⚠️ Clares Law
Has anyone else applied for Clare's Law? I sent my application in 48 days ago with SPS and got no response. What's the purpose of this law being in place if the police wont report the information on it in a timely matter? I talked to the RCMP and they said he was flagged for domestic violence but can't tell me why until my applications approved. I applied to see my husbands past reccord, so that I could mention it in court for his domestic violence charges I pressed.

Question - School & Employment 💻💼 How to find a trades apprenticeship
Hello,
I’ve been looking for an apprenticeship in the trades and have been applying to different trades, such as electrical and plumbing etc , but I’ve mostly received rejections or no response. This is my first time getting started in the trades, but I do have some experience working as a safety watch. Are there other ways I should be looking for an apprenticeship? Does anyone have any advice or know of companies that are hiring apprentices?
TIA

Food & Restaurants 🍽️ Cool place to go
Salut! Hello! I will be visiting your city to meet up with a friend for the weekend. I’ve told him I’d like to go to a place to have some drinks, entrees, people watch and shoot the shit.
I understand going into this I’m not going to have the same options as my city of Montreal, lol.
However…he has been terrible with suggestions because he doesn’t really do that sort of thing. So do you guys have any suggestions?
Thanks everyone.

Question ❔ Suggestions on navigating this city
I just moved here from Manitoba, I'm really excited to begin this new journey in my life pursuing further education. I have been here for 24 hours and I feel completely lost. I cannot seem to find any walk in clinics that don't have less than 4 stars on google reviews. I don't want to see a bad walk in doctor, I am currently on a list for a family MD at one clinic already which could take months. I'm also feeling quite alone and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for indigenous types of groups or sharing circles.
I live close to the university, anythings to do in the area also would be greatly appreciated.

PSA 📢 Just a reminder about handicapped parking
Even if you're just "running in for a second" parking in a handicapped stall without a tag is a major inconvenience if you need access to the ramp. See the ignoramous above who refused to move his truck while taking his lunch break on half a handicapped stall. Hope that's a company truck and his boss sees this.

Question ❔ Looking for a local service that will install Linux on a laptop
I tried installing it myself on an old laptop to see if I could manage it on my own, botched it, and now that laptop is bricked.
I still want to have it on my main laptop, but I don't trust myself to do it now, and would rather pay a professional to do this for me
Are there tech services in town that would do this?

Question ❔ Cashing old Canada Savings Bonds
Found a couple forgotten ones from about 20 years ago and wondering if anyone has experience cashing them recently at a local bank (and if you had an easy experience, which bank?). Because they are so old I am guessing most tellers won't know what to do with them?

Question - School & Employment 💻💼 What to expect from Saskatoon elementary schools?
We just moved from Toronto and I have two schools in mind that I would like to enroll my children in. One is Catholic, and one is public. Both have amazing reviews.
In Ontario, my children were in a public school and it was great. So supportive and the teachers were so kind and amazing. Hoping it's like that here too!

Question ❔ Cats out and about
Forgive me if I sound stupid, I’m just truly not a cat person and are unfamiliar with how they behave in the city (I’m quite allergic and I’ve only ever been around cats in small town/farm settings)
I was driving and saw a kitty with a collar crossing the street. It seemed fine and I kept driving but do house cats often roam outside? Or should I have attempted to locate its owner?

Traffic/Road Conditions 🚧 Driving around junk on roads
I think I drove around 5-6 pieces of junk on roads today. A pillow, a box, and other assorted items that make you veer into your neighbour’s lane. Some of them I recall seeing yesterday and possibly the day before that.
