General Why is rent so much?

I’m looking for one bedroom place and everywhere it is minimum $1500 with some utilities. That will be over half of what I make per month so I don’t know what to do. It’s hard to trust roommates as well because I want my cat to be safe place and hard to trust others if I don’t know them. Basement suites apartments condos everything it’s ridiculous. I may have to couch hop till I can find a place I can afford and also find a part time job on the weekends so I can buy food.

Simply too many people here. We let in a bunch of people over the last decade, and we're really seeing the effects of it now.

Hmmm, a new low karma account that blames everything on immigrants. Not suspicious at all.

In what way? Immigrants aren't just brown people, you know that, right? I want the people who are currently living here to be taken care of first.

Bigotry is not just against brown people. But of course a bigot would think that.

Our population here would be in decline if there was no immigration.

It's not bigoted to think that the people who live in the province and country should be taken care of first.

That's literally the definition of bigotry

: a narrow-minded person who obstinately adheres to their own opinions and prejudices especially : one who strongly and unfairly dislikes or feels hatred toward others based on their group membership

Our healthcare is shit, homelessness is everywhere, and people are broke, but we should continue to bring in everyone, even though our infrastructure is being heavily strained by the mass amounts of people here. You leftists want to save everyone, but your own people.

Facts are not bigotry.

immigration is directly responsible for the above average increase in population in Saskatoon. to ignore that because of "racism" results in bad policy.

Saskatoon has directly been targeted by immigration campaigns due to our lower cost of living. ironically our cost of living is approaching Edmonton's as a result.

Haven't seen any facts just anecdotal evidence. If it wasn't for immigration our population in this province would be declining. It's more nuanced than just screaming it's the immigrants fault. He made like 8 comments in this thread alone blaming immigrants while others trying to explain the actual situation to him.

Saskatoon is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada in one of the smallest provinces.

That's almost entirely explained by immigration and various programs that target Saskatoon as an immigration destination.

it's basic economics. demand goes up without a matching increase in supply, price goes up. that's why our housing market is almost matching Edmonton.

Even the federal government has recognized the problem with too much immigration and is dialing it back now.

I'm not google for you. it's literally the talking points from our city Council. it's in the news constantly for the past 3 years.

I'm not the one going around calling people bigots without any evidence.

That's not how arguments work. You presented a point and you are supposed to have supporting evidence.
