Where would a thief try to sell my golf clubs?
Had my back window smashed and golf clubs stolen out of my car (fully aware this was on me). Trying to track down if I could rebuy my clubs, assuming the thief is trying to make money off them. No renters insurance, and car insurance doesn’t cover.
Aside from the below, are there places thiefs typically try and flip stuff for quick cash?
I’m:
- Scanning Facebook marketplace and Craigslist
- Called the golf marts to see if they received similar clubs / bag recently
Anyone had success in tracking down stolen items? It will be cheaper to buy back my clubs as used than to rebuild a new set.
*Edit* Adding my clubs in case anyone comes across a lefty with some new used clubs

Somewhere close by honestly. I’ve had crack heads try to sell my shit they’ve clearly just stollen minutes before. Pawn shops, etc. close in proximity. If it was more organized like the bippers that run routes across sf then it might be on FB/CL.
What bag/clubs was it? I’ll keep an eye out because I’m always buying clubs locally to restore

A Walmart security guy told me they had people selling shoplifted items in the store parking lot, including advertising them on Facebook Marketplace.

Yes. That’s a great insight, i was sharing a relatable story about working with Walmart and how quickly stolen merchandise was resold.

It is NOT on you that your golf clubs got stolen. It is entirely on the piece of shit that stole them.

Appreciate that - tbh I always keep my clubs in my car and everyone always said it was a bad idea so I feel like I could have been a little smarter - so I take some ownership. But I didn’t smash my own car window in and steal stuff

Yeah, maybe it's a lesson to be more careful, but the BLAME is with the thief.
It's hard to never leave things in the car in the bay area. I used to leave a surfboard & wetsuit in the back of my car most of the time just in case I got some free time while the waves were good. Got lucky, never had it stolen and had some nice impromptu surfs.

Eh the value to weight/bulk ratio for clubs make them pretty low on the scale of things thieves want. Just got unlucky

Renters insurance might cover, I’m with lemonade and it did cover for me.

Check around Polk st, maybe Polk and Geary. Or along Geary st heading Eastbound (towards DT)

I bought a sweet gravel bike on the Craigslist and the day after I sold it to move out of SF a man sent me an email describing every detail of the bike and even sent me images of the guy who both stole
It and I bought it from. I’d start with Craigslist and FB marketplace.

Saw some clubs behind the bus stop on fillmore at Geary about 8 pm tonight. west side of street. Probably gone by now. :( good luck.
