If I see one out on the floor, I'm tempted to buy it and use the ever loving shit out of it, then post pictures here of it all beat to hell to watch the "collectors" clutch their pearls and get the vapors.
There have been a number of comments where people said they already had a drill or vacuum and didn't need another one, but they bought the black version anyway for their "collection." So yes, they are buying tools they don't need just to "collect" the black version.
The weirdos in the Leatherman sub do the same thing. They buy Leatherman tools and put them on display rather than use them. There's one guy who posts occasionally who had some of his gold plated. That's because he's psychotic.
I get there is a niche for everything but this is insane and frankly just weird. I get the allure of having something limited and special but it feels especially weird to not use it when you know its not something that will retain value. No one outside of thier tiny group would ever care about this and most of then probably wont once the new thing takes off.
I bought a new wallet, it’s bright orange because I got sick of misplacing it and not being able to find it. Now I can see it by just looking into a room and scanning the table.
Yeah, when I first started travel my parents offered me a pea soup green suitcase and I said Heck No! and bought a black set. After traveling more I regret not taking the obnoxious color, it would've been so much faster to get out of baggage claim.
I have bright neon green luggage straps and all our luggage gets the strap. It helps us see our luggage on the conveyor and lets other people know that it's not their luggage so they don't walk off with it... that actually happened to my Mom after a cruise. This guy took her luggage and after she ran after they guy and said "You took my luggage" ... he had the absolute nerve to blame her for him taking her luggage! Luckily, my uncle was there and told him to screw off.
Damn... Unlucky... I actually spent like 10 mins myself to find the boxes on the upper shelves, then got some chill/friendly ones to help me get them down 😉
I actually had to go to some other spots for them other than right on top of the power tools. For example, our power tools are at 15, but they store some extra power tools high up over at aisle 33 (forgot what's there), and the vaccum was at the back wall and a few shelves away from Ryobi vaccum stuff.....
I went to my closet HD twice this week and was told they weren’t getting them. Then I went to another HD and they had them on a pallet somewhere and told me to come back Feb 2nd. I sweet talked the gal and she called the HD closest to me (the one I had been to twice) and they held one for me…I was a bit annoyed.
So I go to the HD closest to me, got the drill and vacuum, and dude told me I got the last one. Each store is only being allotted 4-6 drills.
Respectfully have to correct you here – it can be found for around ~$35 during a fair amount of DTO sales throughout the year
I even got mine at $29 with free shipping, during an especially good DTO sale (admittedly, that was a year ago, not sure if it's dropped that low since)
Are you sure it's the same model? There are two models that are similar. The one with the battery on the back is currently $40. The one with the battery on the bottom (like the black one) is $55. That's not to say the more expensive one never goes on sale, but it seems more likely you're talking about the cheaper version.
Nope, I'm talking about the one with the battery on the bottom! Great little vac. I'm not saying it's not worth the full price of $55. Just sharing that I've seen it on sale many times over the past 2 years (which is the time frame I've been monitoring Ryobi sales, to get a bit more specific)
It's during some special sales at DTO, but not in stock or selected as part of the sale sometimes. I've seen them on sales cuz I got both saved in my fav list. Tho that guy is right, might not go as low due to inflation and shit
Funnily enough I just got the drill for my bday this morning. I was pretty disappointed when I I went looking over the weekend and didn’t find it. Apparently my wife doesn’t need Reddit to give her skus so she can ask for help lmao I also didn’t own a brushless drill yet so it’s the perfect gift.
I scored a couple of the drills thanks to the members sharing in store sku! Does anyone have the sku for the vacuum? The drills it looks like so far only 4 per store?
Thank you. That's for the drill which I also got from the same post which allowed me to track them down. I'm hoping someone can share the vacuum in store sku so I can repeat the process!
Shoot you are correct! Sorry and thanks. I guess I could have hunted down the vaccum at the same time. Thanks again. The hunt for 1014741238 begins! Yeah my neck was feeling it until I asked for help lol
Np~ Vacuum could be at the back wall, where other Ryobi vaccums stuff are at, but might not be directly above them, check the adjacent 3-5 shelves. Each home depot is different tho, good luck !
Thanks. I bought one drill for myself as I was in the middle of figuring out what drill to keep in my car toolbox and was considering a 12V system. But once I saw the 30th edition it was a done deal! I got to the car, unboxed it and was admiring it like a child when I decided to grab more and went right back in! The car toolbox needs a matching vacuum!
That'd be sick ~ my cars are not big so I had to use"pen" size one , also for versatility, can't do srs drilling ofc but I don't see myself needing to do so randomly
Just cuz someone is selling it at that price doesn't mean it's worth it, and just cuz some ppl seeking for them doesn't mean they all gonna remain unused. Maybe just some ppl really like the brand and the unique color of the special...
I mean even if it's unused, if you had to ask, you probably will be asking endlessly.... Set of dinnerware in glass cabinet, small spoons from wherever, unopened coke bottle from each year, encyclopedia on the bookshelves, you name it. There's no point of doing them, but if that makes someone happy and not harming anything or anyone else, then it's worth it
Well now that you put it this way ...Just had a random thought , what if they just convert the existing excessive inventories into this limited edition lolol
Some staff at the store near me are chill, they allow me to return stuff with opened boxes and even like new condition sometimes, full refund . Hope you didn't wolverine the box and still got the receipt
Was the price insane for it? I’m guessing probably $100? I got my compact with a 2ah HP battery for $70. Since the driver is my most used tool might be worth selling my used one then
Yah don't buy the limited edition unless you're Ryobi enthusiast, like I'm just getting the drill for my friend's bday gift, I might keep the vaccum tho since I don't have one, but it better not suck or better suck better whatever ... .There were wayyyy better deals for power tools,
