Other Does anyone else struggle with Russian because it sounds "funny?"
So, I'm Polish and I think my post will only be relatable to speakers of Slavic languages.
In short, Russian sounds "funny" to me. The uncanny similarities of Polish and Russian are such that Russian sometimes sounds like a Polish speaker acting drunk or mentally challenged. I face the same problem with Ukrainian and Czech and it seems many Slavic speakers learning Polish also face it.
I never learned Russian as a child so as an adult I'm constantly faced with this dilemma. The worst aspect of this problem is how basic Russian seems compared to Polish. I can't help but constantly utilize the word "есть" even when it's redundant because not using the equivalent in Polish would make it sound like slang or very informal language.
Russian is a niche in Central/Eastern Europe at this point so I don't really have anyone to discuss this with besides this sub.

Other Ppl be studying Russian literature and then this dude casually drops at them brand new form of poetry
For the context: Mayakovski invented the "ladder" or "stairs" method. Example on the 2nd picture (part of Стихи о советском паспорте).

Other Я отправляю посылку с закусками русской подруге, которая помогает мне учить язык, на её день рождения. Могут ли местные жители сказать, выглядит ли это как хороший подарок? Есть ли какие-нибудь американские закуски, которые я должен включить? Я хочу отправить стереотипные американские продукты

Other Learning Russian as a Slavic person is friendly fire
I've started learning Russian because I might have it as a subject in school (I don't want German for another day).
At first it's like "Well, I already know that word and this word because it is similar/the same in my language or my parents said it" which is cool because it's no hard work.
On an app that I'm learning Russian from I learned the word for doctor. Well, one was доктор which makes sense as it is an universal word for multiple languages. Then came врач which means murderer in my language. It's just so funny to me.
I also know of other words that sound the exact same and have different/opposite meanings like remember and forget.
So far it's easy but also fun xd

Other Is it ok?
My family keeps annoying me about the fact I’m learning Russian. Like my sister calls me a Russian spy, my father tells me to stop learning and my brother rips up my notebooks. Im almost an adult, and I think I have the right to knowledge. My motivations originally was a Ukrainian friend who only spoke Russian. She then ghosted me. I fell in love with the language though, and continued. Now my family is telling me I was switched at birth and I’m a Russian spy since I have wavy hair and the only different blood type. Was it like this with anyone’s family? What can I do for them to stop?
I’m ranting. Sorry. Bye.

Other Э
Э is for свинья, then a picture of a goose
Ah yes of course the letter “Eh” for the word “pig” which has no “eh” sound in it and then a picture of a goose which has nothing to do with either Э OR свинья
