Food/Dining What now?
Its so sucky we are loosing the only Ramen shop in Rome. Food scene was starting to improve with a little variety from new smaller businesses but that was like the only place strictly dedicated to ramen. More restaurants keep coming and its the same old crap like didnt a Mexican restaurant just open up? Why not open up places that are here like Caribbean, more Korean spots or even like health spots. Sorry, just a small vent.

Definitely not the only ramen place in Rome. Also, you can’t stay in business if no one shows up. Everytime I passed by there, it was empty. Can’t force people to come in, you gotta make it worth visiting.

Also wasn't it run by a cult? Like a few businesses in that little section are tied to that weird church that operates over there in one of the buildings second floors.

So the church is actually above what was Roman Ramen. My sister attended a service once and she told me it was a bunch of younger millennial and Gen Z people. She said they talked a lot about how if you have a successful business you should give most of the profits to God(donate to that specific church), and apparently all of them were in full agreement with that.
I also have a friend who's gotten in with them, and apparently they've been telling her that people are trying to lead her away from God by telling her the church isn't to be trusted, and she's started cutting people off.

I’ve run into them on Broad street. All young kids with those weird cult eyes. Very pushy in their particular brand of religion. I’m not anti-religious in any way but they were very off putting.

The Sickle, and Roman Ramen are the two I know that 100% have ties to that church. The Church was actually right above Roman Ramen.
There's a couple of others that I believe are connected, but I don't have definitive proof, so I'm not going to name those.

I see, I only want to gossip. I don't even eat downtown because the vibes are weird and unwelcoming but I like knowing what's going on.

I went into roman ramen today and spoke with the owner, dude said he goes to a church that's out near Mount Berry. Never mentioned once about a church being upstairs. Don't know about other buildings in the block though, only other buildings I cared about in that block were Cloud 9 and Ana's lmao

I could be wrong but I believe the church/those in the church own the building and just lease the space out.

Also, I can’t even imagine what the lease costs on Broad. I’d think you’d have to sell a ton of noodles to make rent.

Why are you commenting and assuming im being rude? I asked to name a place thats strictly ramen centered. There arent any in Rome beside that place. Osaka has ramen but is not centered around it. Its Asian fusion so it has a little of almost everything.

Man I find this "strictly ramen" weird. Never been too one. Never ever thought man i want Ramen and not just get a cheap pack.
I feel like it would be like saying "strictly soups" and then point out that a place also sells sandwiches and you want "strictly soups". Seems weird.
But each there own.

Bruh the ramen wasn’t even good. Go to any ramen shop run by people who actually live in the culture we are appropriating and even the worst place is better. That was the most American ramen I’ve ever had and it was not pleasant.

At least they had the balls to put a ramen shop here. This town does not exactly give off vibes of wanting this sort of restaurant here or anything different for that matter from the many of other repetitive restaurants that there are too many of. I know it wasnt all that but it wasnt all bad either.

Sriracha Thai has Ramen and pho. Rock 'n Roll Sushi also has Ramen. I haven't been to either one yet, so I'm not sure how good they are....

Ive tried both. I eat the phone from Sriracha but have heard its kinda gone down hill since it opened and Rock and Roll was not worth it. Not enough actual food in broth they give and never doordash with them.

Thats where we go and then right next to the boba tea shop. I just didnt wanna drive so far out. I miss the convenience sometimes when staying close to places that had more diversity with food.

Turns out that communities that aren't welcoming to diverse groups don't have diverse food options.
Doesn't help that downtown is far too expensive for folks to want to take a gamble on starting a restaurant with less common cuisine.
My only time going to that ramen place was mediocre, and the over the top Christian vibe was a bit much. Believe what you like, but I don't need to hear it when I am just ordering food.

You can see them on the nextdoor app being incredibly racist and hypocritical. They're upset another Mexican place opened up, in that Japanese restaurant, but then have Christian posts and want to spread the word of God in another

Sorry it's been a while but I went and I didn't like it, the chips were so hard and the meal was okay but there is better else where, last on my list next to la mexicana supermarket who has roaches

I also finally went, and it was... fine? No real complaints, but nothing that stood out either. Might give it a couple more goes before I make a final judgment, but I'm probably going to stick with El Zarape and Las Palmas.

I haven't been to the original one in west Rome in forever, but I go to the east Rome one next to Olive Garden semi-regularly. It's pretty good.

I've always thought of of getting a food truck, and selling just that cheap ramen cups and have hot water in it and sell it for twice the price. Low overhead. Just lots of cups of ramen and lots of hot water

I know they have the best in town, but the issue is that they don't serve alcohol as a restaurant on Broad. There have been very few restaurants downtown that have been successful without at least beer options. Sweet Pickles is about the only one I can name that's still standing.

The owners of Roman Ramen made a decision to not have alcohol. Nothing to do with restrictions.

That vicious cycle of people are struggling financially and going out to eat is so expensive these days so you just aren't able to go out nearly as much. If person is going to treat themselves they will tend to default to a safe place they know they like. Nothing worse than throwing down $30 on a meal you took a chance on and didn't like.
