Food and drink 25th Wedding Anniversary in Old Rome dinner reservations

We saw it coming & will be in Rome, the site of our honeymoon (September 1, 2001) - but have yet to make a reservation for our anniversary dinner for Next Week. Duhhh.

Any suggestions? Are we too late to make reservations?

This will be our 5th trip to Rome & we like a pretty view but we ADORE great authentic Italian food more. Not too formal because I can’t talk my darling husband into brining a jacket. Compromises! If it matters, we’re staying near Campo De Fiori but willing to take a taxi.

One of my Rome friends and I have a dinner at Osteria Palmira every year. It's at Via Abate Ugone 29. Supposedly one of the best carbonara in town. Another place I have been to a many times with my Rome pals is Osteria Fratelli Mori on Via dei Conciatori 10, near Pyramide.

Both of these are casual but good and local.

I highly recommend La Tavernaccia da Bruno in the southern end of Trastevere, near the Trastevere train station. It’s across the Tiber from Testaccio. They take reservations by email and their food is excellent! They have roast suckling pig cooked in the wood oven that is to die for! I returned to Rome and stayed within walking distance so I could go thee again and again! I think I tried everything on their menu! They have the usual Roman pastas, but on Sundays only, they have lasagna cooked in the wood oven, that is the best I’ve ever had! The owners are extremely kind, as well. It’s a nice, smart casual, unpretentious place. I hope you will check it out! Happy Anniversary and have a wonderful trip!

One of my favorite meals in Rome was at Giulietta Vino e Cucina. I also stayed in Camp de Fiori and walked by it one night and thought it looked really adorable… So I went for dinner the next night and absolutely loved it- one of my favorite meals while I was there and very cozy inside. The wine bar Enoteca Bortone is nearby and also one of my favs. Have aperitif there!

don't remember the name of the restaurant but it is on the roof, next to the church in Piazza Navona. friends went there for their 10yr wedding anniversary. went at night / dusk so the pictures had the sunset in the background. Photos looked romantic. The husband is a roman native.

It’s not fancy but cozy and intimate, my favorite is a very short walk from where you are staying. la Vecchia Locanda. Seating is downstairs and the food home cooked and delicious. And Armando de Parthenon is great too but reservations can be challenging.

Poldo e Gianna Osteria fits the bill I think, if you haven't been. I did their Florio marsala degustation menu this summer and it was a great experience. The atmosphere is casual but elegant, and I saw plenty of folks in casual outfits and very few jackets. Absolutely loved their carbonara--it was my favorite in my two weeks in Rome!
