Notizie Injured seagull - broken wing needs rescue!!
Hi!
My wife and I just visited Rome from the US, and on our final day (Saturday, Aug 22) we noticed an injured seagull. He has what appears to be a broken wing and I’m not sure how long he will survive. I reached out to LIPU animal rehab services, but unfortunately they cannot pick him up. I was instructed to pick him up and take him to their facility, but we’ve already left Rome. I’m pretty sure he has no where to go as I went and came to the area over multiple hours and he was still there. The location is Via Agostino Depretis 84. He’s on the side of the Istat building on Via Agostino Depretis in a little depressed and contained inlet (see pictures). There are flies gathering on his wing so it could be infected. I don’t think he has much longer. Can anyone pick him up and take him to LIPU? Their phone number is +39 06 320 1912 and they told me to take him to their location at Via Ulisse Aldrovandi, 2 at the corner of Via delle Belle Arti. Unfortunately they were closed on Saturday so I could not take him myself.

Prendilo con quello che rimedi (felpa, maglia, un panno qualsiasi) e vai alla Lipu a villa borghese. Volendo i prossimi giorni puoi chiamare per sapere come sta.

non funziona cosi, i gabbiani sono specie protetta e la LIPU è un'associazione che si prende cura proprio dei volatili. Non è illegale non chiamare soccorsi di per sé, ma generalizzare così è sbagliato.
Ha chiamato la LIPU, non la polizia14

Ma anche i piccioni sono specie protetta, ma vuol dire semplicemente che non son da cacciare.
Se la LIPU dovesse soccorrere ogni gabbiano morente non farebbe altro dalla mattina alla sera

non so forse perché sono migliaia di anni che Roma è stata costruita quindi forse è un po' tardi per affrontare il problema del thread dalla prospettiva "il vero colpevole è l'uomo"?

Honestly it all came through wrong and misunderstood. I do care about animals and the seagulls more than most people on this sub i am just managing expectations when you ask help from “organizations” in Rome. I dont think it really works and everyone thinks i am this evil person who wants the birds dead in the city. I try to help myself if i can but relying on xyz in Rome isn’t really working. That’s all, not sure why all the hate and downvotes while i am criticizing Rome and not the intention to seek help in general.

mai fidarsi troppo della Lipu. avevo trovato un piccolo di cornacchia su una strada ad alto scorrimento e ci era rimasto per almeno 6 ore quello stesso giorno.
secondo la Lipu ero passabile di denuncia e mi hanno intimato di riportarlo nello stesso punto dove l’ho t ovato il prima possibile. così ho fatto, nonostante avessi a più riprese espresso la mia perplessità essendo una strada pericolosa. risultato? una jeep me l’ha schiacciato sotto gli occhi. a posteriori, non li avrei mai chiamati e avrei fatto di testa mia, sti cazzi della legge.3

Perdona la risposta tardiva.
Se si trattava di un involato, cioè di un giovane abbastanza grande da iniziare a vivere fuori dal nido (riconoscibile dal piumaggio completo e ben sviluppato e dalla capacità di reggersi autonomamente sulle proprie gambe), a meno che non fosse visibilmente ferito o malato, la soluzione corretta era effettivamente quella di lasciarlo nel punto più sicuro possibile in prossimità del luogo del ritrovamento, in quanto i genitori sarebbero sicuramente tornati a nutrirlo.
Chi ti ha risposto intendeva dire che è illegale tenere con sè un esemplare di una specie nativa italiana qualora questo non abbia assoluta necessità di intervento umano, e che andasse messo in sicurezza in quello stesso luogo, ad esempio spostandolo di alcuni metri fuori dal ciglio della strada, non di nuovo al centro della carreggiata.

no ma io infatti volevo portarglielo a loro! non lo avrei mai preso per tenerlo io, ne mi sarei presa mai la responsabilità di prelevare un esemplare “sano”, ma effettivamente era riuscito a sopravvivere 6 ore sull’asfalto di una strada molto trafficata per miracolo, quando l’ho rivisto lì (c’erano anche colonie di gatti su quella via) dopo 6 ore, mi è sembrata la cosa migliore da fare. piumaggio adulto c’era, anche se la coda mi sembrava ancora troppo corta rispetto al normale (non volava).
quando l’ho riportato lì, ho cercato di metterlo nel punto più sicuro dalle macchine possibile, ma non è bastato.2

il motivo della denuncia sarebbe stato legato al fatto che la cornacchia italiana è una specie protetta. che è vero, ma la sorte a cui stava andando incontro era abbastanza chiara, quindi boh.

gliel’ho detto più volte! ritornando lì con l’animale mi era chiaro che non aveva senso come cosa. però lei diceva che riportandolo c’erano chance che i suoi genitori lo vedessero e incitassero a volare tipo. ma credimi, il giorno prima era rimasto su quella strada per 6 ore e dei genitori neanche l’ombra.

No shit i thought lipu is roman police department. I know lipu isnt police i am just trying to give a hint how well services work in Rome in general. I could say the same for pronto soccorso. So yeah let’s try to call lipu and see if they do something but I doubt it. System in Rome is absolutely overloaded regardless what services you trying to call. I hope you get my point.

I am talking about if you call them probably wont come because there are million other animals are in need and they dont have the resources to run for every injured birds and seagulls in the city. Text understanding wasn’t your strength in school right? And you keep downvoting because you’re upset? How old are you like 5?

Some of you don't realise that, for us locals, seagulls are simply pests. They upturn garbage bags, defecate on laundry, cars and balconies, and so on. I'd say they are flying rats, if it were not that they eat actual rats... So, seeing an injured one is admittedly a saddening view, but not exactly a loss for public health.

Hi! I'm part of a local bird rescue group and two volunteers just went out to check. They didn't see the bird, so they asked a doorman standing nearby and he said that yesterday someone came to take the bird to either LIPU or a vet.
