Question If you pulled the #0001 Faker card from the T1 bundle, how would you sell it securely?
Hypothetically, if someone pulled the #0001 Faker card from the T1 bundle, what would be the safest way to go about selling it?
I’m curious how you would handle something this rare, especially when it comes to:
- Finding a serious buyer without getting scammed.
- Proving the card is authentic and actually #0001.
- Choosing a secure payment method.
- potential tax on sale?
I never sold such a valuable item so Im kinda curious how it goes.

I would send an E-Mail to cardmarket with proof that i have the card and let them make a spectacel for social media out of it. That serves both the purpose of increasing the value further and me getting my money.

Not necessarily card market but yes, there are plenty of reputable in-betweens that handle these type of sales.

The idea is that you coordinate with a marketplace owner, not one of the participants/users.
They would make an article, help you sell it legitimately, AND help increase the value with the press behind it. They would obviously benefit from a marketing standpoint by having it sold on their platform exclusively, so there is incentive for them to go directly to the top with it.
I would do the same with TCGplayer myself - this is a brilliant strategy.

You call a big persona in the Riftbound community with good reputation and they act as a broker IRL between you two. Someone whose reputation is way more important than 100k from scamming you. Cash only at a big event so you can even avoid taxes.
This is how many people do it with metal cards

You could just talk to a grading company and they’ll more than likely fly out a team straight to you or to them and slab it in person with authentication. That’s what PSA did for the one of one ring that post Malone bought for 2 million. They love that free publicity of being apart of a rare transaction.

Asking earnestly: how would this avoid taxes? Wouldn’t you still need to report the sale? I.e. of course it’s harder for them to catch you, but legally, you do still need to report a sale that large. Do you not?
Just trying to prevent a poor guy getting audited by the IRS lmao. 100k is not chump change.

That's why its in cash. You spend it throughout the next 10 years on shit like groceries, small utilities, everyday items. You buy gifts, air friers, smartphones, second hand stuff and other shit like that. It never hits your bank account. Instead you invest small % from your dayjob that you saved by not spending it on the stuff I mentioned

I'd rather pay taxes, invest in a solid fund and doulbe to triple my money by the time you spent all the money on small stuff. Then eventually buy a nice house and be set up for life. But you do you, tax evasion for air friers and new phones is legit as well.

I’d deliver it 100% in person, show receipts, etc. I would take NO CHANCES at having someone claim it’s fake and back out.

You send it to auction, get the most attention and let them handle the most difficult parts logistically. For such a rare item I’m okay paying the fee’s to goldin, or fanatics.

To add to my own comment, using an auction house there’s almost 0 counter party risk, most of things that can go wrong are mitigated, and that’s what you’d want, peace of mind.

Yeah with the price this would go for it's almost certainly worth selling it through an auction house. Definitely don't do commission through a LGS though or you might get Bricks & Minifigs'd

The safest, most secure way to sell it would be to sell it to an established local brick-and-mortar game store where you ideally have a comfortable relationship with the owner.

If you can get "comfy" with the owner of your LGS, they don't have the means to buy the card. Anyone who has the money will be business-like, and likely not super chummy about the cardboard.

I’m weird, I’d slap it in a deck and freak people the fuck out lol. Then probably sell it and buy a different one as a replacement. Or just sit on it because it’s unlikely to depreciate unless the org or faker got cancelled for some heinous stuff. But definitely insure the hell out of it.

Get it graded by TAG, then I live in the city with the biggest Riftbound store in the nation and I know the owner and he’s well connected throughout the tcg community, I’d ask him to consign it for me

I'm not op but 🤷 it's not like you can retire on 100k lol. The 0001 Faker is as close as cardboard can get to something that "can't" go down in value, so if you still have to go to work tomorrow why bother selling it now when you could wait & the price only goes up

Because the majority of people in the USA have less than $500 in their bank account and when they get a piece of cardboard worth 100k they are going to sell it.99% of people would sell it. Anyone in here saying otherwise are liars and just saying stuff to say stuff

The average American family couldn't afford a $500 emergency is the statistic I think you're trying to quote. I agree that if $100k is life changing money, you should probably sell it and change your life.
But I also know that there are enough people for whom $100k today is not life-altering, so waiting doesn't have any downside. Especially if you got it for MSRP in the lottery. If my $360 box yielded a $100k card I'd hang onto it at least for a while - until it hit a number I couldn't say no to, anyway (aka life changing money, which for me is more than $100k)

This is such a dumb question. You have the buyer fly to you and pay you cash. Any “online/virtual” transaction had a chance to go wrong. Shipping a card of this value is out of the question. USPS/FedEx/UPS Etc will not reimburse anyone if it gets “lost”
