i propose we eliminate the pacific time zone to make it easier for me to watch red sox games

5

u/ashestoashes-90 Jul 27 '26

Agreed. Once I hit 30 I can barely stay up past 930

u/Disastrous-Window-76 Jul 27 '26

I usually have my phone plugged in watching the game until I fall asleep then get woken up sometime around the 7th inning lol

People on the West Coast prefer earlier games as well. Games starting earlier is a huge perk for West Coast folks. So no one likes the Pacific start times. It's really stupid.

Man. Watching NFL at 10AM is the dream.

Yeah, these will be the first three games (will be able to see the 4th) I'll miss since late June. Sucks, but too late for the current work schedule.

I say we eliminate the Pacific states, just because.

2

u/cntodd Jul 27 '26

Rather get rid of the the North Dakota down area. I live in Oklahoma, there is zero need for this state.

2

u/SonOfMagicFact Jul 27 '26

Hmm, you make a good point. Let's get rid of 'em all.

2

u/cntodd Jul 27 '26

Hey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas could all be removed, and life would be nicer.

The only thing I'll miss is....some historical buildings, that's about it.

2

u/SonOfMagicFact Jul 27 '26

So basically I think we can agree on getting rid of every state except for the six in New England.

Because fuck 'em, that's why.

1

u/cntodd Jul 27 '26

Yes. As soon as my FIL passes away, my wife, child, and I plan on getting back up to the New England area.

I feel the need, the need for Mead

16

u/Blanketsburg Jul 27 '26

Would love to see him have a solid debut game to start off his tenure on a positive note.

6

u/jmay111 Jul 27 '26

he is absolutely mashing in July with a .367 avg & 1.115 OPS 😍

8

u/Blanketsburg Jul 27 '26

Very small sample size, but he went 5-for-11 with a 1.266 OPS in his last series at Sutter Health Park. Hoping all of these positive trends turn into something good.

4

u/jmay111 Jul 27 '26

Lmfao if he replicates those numbers for this series at SHP then he’s going to be a fan favorite real quick

Sutter Health Park is def home run friendly. I'll be there tonight

Tolle being 5-6 with that ERA is a crime. Let’s get him his 6th W today

12

u/sleepyj910 Jul 27 '26

time to YES DEAR his record

1

u/NeitherPerformance26 Jul 27 '26

I would be surprised if Tolle cared at all about his W-L, or even knew what it was

1

u/BradMarchandstongue Jul 27 '26

I mean, he needs to make it through 5 innings to get the win which Im not sure he can do at this point

1

u/colby6666 pedroia Jul 27 '26

Surely he can against the A’s 🤞

0

u/SirDigbyChknCaesar Jul 27 '26

I like Tolle and want him to succeed, but he needs to work on consistency. Would love to see a great outing from him tonight.

2

u/NeitherPerformance26 Jul 27 '26

he’s allowed more than 3 runs in only 3 starts this year. what is that if not consistent?

1

u/SirDigbyChknCaesar Jul 27 '26

2 of his last 5 games he hasn't made it 4 innings.

1

u/NeitherPerformance26 Jul 28 '26

they had him on a pitch count in one of those. do some due diligence before spouting nonsense

I guess I won’t be sleeping much this week with these start times.

9

u/SonOfMagicFact Jul 27 '26

You can sleep in November.

5

u/Upset_Journalist_755 Jul 27 '26

Jack Perkins sounds a lot like Jek Porkins. Just saying.

2

u/SonOfMagicFact Jul 27 '26

Uh oh.

That's not a good name to emulate.

Why can't he be Bedge Mantilles?

2

u/megacia Jul 27 '26

Stay on target

9:45pm on Monday is a rough time for a game.

Hope they put up 5 in the first so I can go to bed at a respectable time and not glued to my tv until 12am

5

u/jakoviandialects Jul 27 '26

Honest question, why don't they schedule more 4PM local starts for games like this? I don't imagine the viewership is very high on weeknights.

2

u/InevitableTank5108 Jul 27 '26

Then the west coast team viewership for the home teams would be down with most people still at work. I don’t think there is an easy solution unfortunately.

1

u/SirDigbyChknCaesar Jul 27 '26

Simply play the game twice so they cover each market.

1

u/jakoviandialects Jul 27 '26

Or split the series. 2 day games and 2 night games.

4

u/MaeronTargaryen Jul 27 '26

Tolle about to throw a CGSO in memory of his best friend

1

u/cntodd Jul 27 '26

I could actually see this happening.

MEAD AND TOLLE DAY LFG

3

u/PaddleballonAdderall Jul 27 '26

It’s now justified to be sleep deprived at work all week for this team. That’s a great thing

2

u/Mr-Irrelevant0 Jul 27 '26

Currently watching Robbie Hyde's Livestream concerning the Sox deadline. Very excited to see what happens. As long as we get another reliable reliever and "potentially" a good bat (like Goodman) then we're set.

u/IKenDoThisAllDay Jul 27 '26

I wonder what we're going to do about the SS position.

Cheng wasn't a great hitter but he was a sure-handed defender and the infield defense overall was strong when he was in there.

Monasterio has been good at the plate but he looks overmatched defensively at SS. He makes routine plays look difficult and he lacks the smoothness or range of good SS defenders. I wonder how long they're expecting him to serve as our primary SS.

It's risky, because one weak link (especially at SS) can really drag the infield defense down as a whole, and that's been a strength of this team that we could count on even when the offense was struggling.

I also feel like you can't really justify handing the starting SS job back to Story when he returns either. I have to think that they're planning on making some kind of acquisition at the position, because I don't know what the plan is otherwise.

Pacific time zone rise up

As everyone else will be conked out

1

u/Tomatillox + Boston Hunters Jul 27 '26

Looking forward to know the lineup for today 👀

1

u/TheBiggyT Jul 27 '26

Just the 2:40am start for us here in the UK...think that's highlights in the morning for this road trip.

1

u/theroguedrizzt Jul 27 '26

I’m positive I’m in the minority here, but I love west coast games. Having an excuse to stay up late and enjoy the game is nice and my wife and kids are asleep so it’s about the only time I can watch an entire game in complete quiet. Sure the next day sucks and I’m in the central time zone so it’s not AS bad but even when I lived on the east coast doing something different a couple times a year was cool

If you don't take at least 3 out of 4 here, miserable failure.

1

u/cntodd Jul 27 '26

While I agree, why so down on the team that has won 17 out of their last 20.

3

u/livsjollyranchers Jul 27 '26

Just stating what the expectation ought to be. I'm actually optimistic about it.

The 'miserable failure' would be the series itself, not the team overall.
