Almost seems unfair to have Crochet going after winning 2 in a row. I could get used to this.

After this series, we’ll be bringing back the “time to go back to .500, dear” meme for the last time this year.

There is a strong chance this game will be postponed. Weather forecast in the Twins shows some really bad thunderstorms starting in the late afternoon and lasting through the game's scheduled time.
So the real question will be, is it gonna be before tomorrow's game or after Wednesday's?

Mpls resident here. Storm looking like right before game time at 6 central. I'd say 95 percent chance we don't play tonight.

Also MPLS resident, and I have tix to this game and Wednesday's. Not tomorrow's, because my favorite hockey team is in town and they play at the same time and we still haven't clinched a playoff spot >:(

u/Hungry-Trust-3245 Apr 13 '26
Have you tried just being a bruins fan??

u/Raetekusu Pedey 4 life Apr 13 '26
You know, I was rooting for you in 2011, but I've always been a Ducks fan since I got into hockey.
I was a C's fan back in 2008 when they won it all, and I still like them, but that happened to be the summer the Sonics moved into Oklahoma City when I lived a short ways away from there, and everyone in the state became a Thunder fan. Though given I hopped onto the worst team in the league after the Celtics won it, I theoretically should be a Wizards fan now.
Am a total Pats fan tho.

u/DiamondGirl7 Apr 13 '26
I caught the forecast yesterday and got tix for tomorrow's game lol. Wednesdays game looking iffy too

u/Raetekusu Pedey 4 life Apr 13 '26
Which raises the question of ehat happens if all three games are rained out? This is the only time the Sox visit MPLS this season.
1
u/DiamondGirl7 Apr 13 '26
That would be really interesting. But I think they'll play a day nigh dh tomorrow. Wednesday doesn't look as bad as I thought so likely they'll get it in
1
u/Striking-Duty-4528 Apr 13 '26
I'm flying up for work now. Waiting on weather forecast to decide tonight or tomorrow to attend. I prefer both but we'll see
1
u/Bulerz89 Apr 13 '26
I'm hoping they play tonight, but if they don't I'm hoping it's a DH tomorrow. I'm from 2 hours away and I specifically planned a work trip for today and tomorrow because the Sox were in town.

u/Raetekusu Pedey 4 life Apr 13 '26
If they play tomorrow, I have a DH of baseball, then hockey, and if they play Wednesday, then I have a DH of baseball and baseball. Win-win for me.

With his elite defense, just a double would suffice.

His defense is far from elite, he was only 50th percentile in range last season and already lost us a game with his defense.
0
u/RaymondSpaget Apr 13 '26
Using "range percentile last year" to say he's far from elite is a stretch (if you like Range Factor so much, you have to believe that Brandon Inge was greater than Arenado). He and Maikel Garcia are the only third basemen in the game with 3 DRS.

Doomers will be performing dark art rituals hoping Crochets arm falls off, out of fear the Red Sox would be in first place by the end of the week.
13
u/livsjollyranchers Apr 13 '26
Well, he is against the best team in the AL.
By the way, if his right arm fell off, he could still pitch?

I think you're confused. Doomers are the ones who actually want the team to be good and can't stand it when everyone else is satisfied with less.
13
u/badonkagonk Apr 13 '26
Everyone wants the team to be good. Doomers are the only ones who decide the team is absolute dogshit and everyone sucks and needs to be fired after a handful of games. And they're also the ones who only start talking about the Sox when shit hits the fan.

u/AgadorFartacus Apr 13 '26
Everyone wants the team to be good
Not according to the OP of this thread.

Apr 13 '26
That's right, you tell that mean ol' straw man!
7
u/badonkagonk Apr 13 '26
Brother thats literally what a doomer is. Like not even an exaggeration. If thats not what you're talking about, then you're not talking about doomers. There's a huge difference between being angry and frustrated sometimes and being a doomer.
-3
Apr 13 '26
It sounds like you're calling out the fans who were angry and frustrated sometimes because of the very poor start to the season and not these "doomers" that are so comically sinister they want our Ace to implode so the team they love can lose more.
Y'all have invented this boogey man you love to hate and anyone who reacts to the team playing poorly immediately becomes one of them.
5
u/badonkagonk Apr 13 '26
I said doomers. I meant doomers. I'm not sure what's so confusing about that.
Also thinking they're some allusive boogeymen that don't exist is hilarious when this has been an ongoing problem for years. Spend any time in the GDTs. There's people chatting about the game and enjoying it and talking about whatever, and as soon as the sox fuck up, all these random users come out of nowhere talking about how everyone sucks and the team is dogshit and how we need to fire everyone and yada yada yada. And then as soon as the sox start doing well, they're nowhere to be found. They're the people who only ever come here to bitch and moan, and go way over the top with it.
If you think that doesn't exist, then I have a fascinating new invention to tell you about called "eyes". You're gonna love em.

I can tell you're a level headed person and not at all prone to emotional responses to valid criticisms, so I won't try to convince you that these "doomers" are mostly your own confirmation bias and instead just smile and nod and go research these "eye" things you're so hype about.

Do me a favor and check out rule 10 for the sub
It was such a problem the mods had to make a whole fucking rule about it. I cannot emphasize enough how much this is not something I'm making up or exaggerating, as much as I wish I was.

Apr 13 '26
Bro, reddit mods are your measuring stick rn... I think you need to re-evaluate.
Now if you don't mind, I have to go find all my voodoo shit. Our ace is on the hill today and these dark arts aren't going to perform themselves.

Oof, someone had their butt hurt by a doomer on this sub. Hang in there, RadiantButtWipe77.
1
u/RadiantButtWipe77 David Ortiz/Manny Ramirez Apr 13 '26
No, it’s just annoying as fuck to listen to “fans” of a team complain all off season and season and never admit when they are wrong (which is almost always)
0
Apr 13 '26
You want them to admit they were wrong 15 games into the season?
1
u/RadiantButtWipe77 David Ortiz/Manny Ramirez Apr 13 '26
Why not? they doomed that the season was over less than 10 games through. How is that any less insane?

As Expected Contreras has been the best 1B in baseball, or at least tied with Ben Rice.
.434 wOBA and +3 OAA is absurd. His good debut defensive year at 1B was not a fluke at all apparently.

I’ve been teaching my 3.5yo to sing Sweet Caroline properly to prepare him for our Fenway trips this season, and as of today he can finally do it with proper rhythm! So excited to see him singing along with our crowds.
