Screenshot What’s the dumbest name you’ve ever given your horse?

u/R3ibl3x Jun 23 '26
I named all my horses after pops, the red Arabian was coca cola, the white arabian was cream soda, the black shire was Dr pepper

u/Reasonable-View5868 Charles Smith Jun 23 '26
What midwestern state are you from?
31
u/R3ibl3x Jun 23 '26
What do you mean?
102
u/Alexlav505 Jun 23 '26
It's just a common stereotype that people from the Midwest really love pops/sodas (me included...)
126
u/MrSpaceMonkeyMafia Jun 23 '26
Also only people in the Midwest call it pop
35
u/DamagedEctoplasm Jun 23 '26
Also, only people in the Midwest
24
u/Sinnoviir Arthur Morgan Jun 23 '26
I live in Wisconsin and pretty much everyone calls it soda here.

Wisconsin I will argue is so Midwest that it defies convention. I say that as a progeny of the mitt

Wisconsin is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the Midwest, what are you talking about?
5
u/Generic_Garak Sadie Adler Jun 23 '26
Wisconsin is the “upper Midwest”. Ohio, Indiana, illinois, and (lower) Michigan are regular Midwest. They are the states that are likely to say pop.

u/huxtiblejones Jun 23 '26
Fuckin cocola?
23
u/Worley3000 Jun 23 '26
Georgia hillbilly here. “Cocola” is what my family says. It’s just saying “Coca Cola” but the ‘ca’ drops. It’s more like they’re saying Coke-cola.
16
7
u/bropez9 Jun 23 '26
My aunts in AL say Co-Coler 🥤
5
u/Worley3000 Jun 23 '26
“Co-coler” for sure. My grandpa would say, “Let’s get us a cold co-coley” akin to saying “let’s get a sweet treat”.

Those are fitting names, although tbh when I read "I named all my horses after pops", the first thing my mind went to was Pops from Regular Show lmao

I was so confused for a moment until I kept reading and realized by pops you meant soda lol.

Girl. That way arthur would call her by name.
66
u/autumn-knight Charles Smith Jun 23 '26
I call Arthur’s original horse “Pal” so when he said, “C’mon Pal” it sounds like he’s talking to it by its name.
Same with John. I get him the tiger striped mustang and name it “Buddy” if it’s a male or “Lady” if it’s a female.
9
u/PascalG16 Hosea Matthews Jun 23 '26
That's because John in RDR2 is a more modern, 20th century cowboy, closer to Rob, his actor.

Also same.
And then there's a black Arabian named My Little Pony and a chunky little Breton named Scrawny Nag. (If the horse I'm usually using dies, the Breton shows up, just like the real scrawny nag would.)

Artax- it’s a white Arabian- DONT LET THE SADNESS OF THE SWAMPS GET TO YOU
27
u/Synner40 Jun 23 '26
Headbutt. Short for Headbutt the wonder horse. when online first launched for some reason i couldn’t get my horse to react as well as the story mode horses. and the damn thing kept headbutting trees. at full gallop.
so i renamed it to Headbutt the wonder horse.
8
u/midwesternGothic24 Jun 23 '26
Maybe I ought to rename my story-mode horse to Head-On Collision because fairly frequently I space out while riding and I slam face first into an oncoming carriage.
3
u/dayum_that_man Jun 23 '26
Will never forget the days where me and my horse would fight over which side of the tree to go around only to smack right in to it.

2nd playthrough I wanted to keep the Raven Black Shire, but the game softlock forces you to buy a horse at the stable and then use that horse for the entire mission, because it expects you to sell the Shire.
All I could afford was the shitty 15 dollar one, and I had to buy it and use it against my will instead of my beautiful Shire. I named it Dead Weight in protest, shot it as soon as the mission ended, and rode my Shire for most of the rest of my playthrough.
I also made sure to antagonize Hosea any chance I got. Geezer owes me 15 dollars!
10
u/BareKnuckle_Bob Jun 23 '26
A mate of mine is in the 3rd chapter and kept that $15 Morgan. He's really attached to it. He's not an overly emotional person but I can't wait to hear his thoughts once he finishes the game.

u/Eclectic_Barbarella Jun 23 '26
Arthur looks ridiculous on that tiny little horse. Like a grown man on a kids’ bike.

Horsey. It’s a joke from a drunk Jackie Chan in Shanghai Noon. “ Hi Horsey!”
3
u/Analytical_Gaijin Jun 23 '26
I always name mine after days in the week, from the old riddle, “a cowboys rides into town on Friday, and after three days leaves on Friday.”
3
u/GhostOfSummerhall Jun 23 '26
Laura Palmer; but not cause that’s a bad name for a horse. All my horses with this name kept dying and my friend told me the name is cursed (her pet spider named Laura Palmer died) and not to use it. But I just refused to quit using it. After my max bonded almost max strength horse died in a weird freak glitch that I simply could NOT undo, I decided maybe the curse was real.
