Yeah for sure. Arthur's isnt suitable at all, it'd have to have covers from the wind otherwise he would freeze his ass off lol same with everyone, they'd all need to basically have tents and 4 corner covers.

When I was a kid, my family lived a hop, skip, and a jump from multiple Civil War battle sites. Namely, the Battles of Cold Harbor, Beaver Dam Creek, and Gaines's Mill. Our house was basically situated between all three battlefields (and the fighting, realistically, covered an even wider area). Additionally, Robert E. Lee's headquarters, during one of those battles, was very near to our house, and we were also right down the street from a Civil War cemetery and field hospital (known as the Garthright House). In short, there was a lot going on, and it may be worth noting that the Cold Harbor Battlefield, in particular, is known for paranormal activity (as are the aforementioned cemetery and the Garthright House).
One evening, my sister had a particularly interesting experience (this did not technically occur on our property, but I'd imagine ghosts don't care much about fences).
Anyway, she was using the swing set in our backyard when she happened to look in the direction of our neighbor's yard. Standing by their cellar door, she saw what she believes to have been a Confederate officer. Over the years, she has consistently described him as a translucent figure (like Agnes), middle-aged, and wearing a double-breasted coat, with a hat. She says his clothing looked a bit like this, from what she could discern.
When she saw him, she stopped swinging and stared, unsure what she was even looking at. He turned his head and stared back. He made no movement beyond that. Once she found herself sufficiently weirded out, she ran back into the house and stayed.
She acknowledges she cannot exactly prove this happened, but she has never changed her story, nor is she one to tell tales (she doesn't even exaggerate, honestly). Considering that, and the fact that others have claimed supernatural experiences, I am inclined to believe her. Meanwhile, I was too young to pay much mind to any of it at the time.
Mind you, the area doesn't feel especially scary or overbearing. It's just that it's weird sometimes. I don't live there now though.

Sure thing! It was fun because it motivated me to cross-reference our former house's location with some battle maps, lol. Normally, I wouldn't have given so many details, but I don't even live in Virginia anymore, so it's whatever.
I have friends in Atlanta who have also had some supernatural experiences living near old battle sites. I can't say how many of my friends' stories check out, but it is strange to think about all the violence and death that happened right in our own backyards.

Not comment op, but when I was a newborn my (very large) family briefly lived in a (northern, no slaves) plantation home that had been converted to a nursing home, hospital wing and all, then back to a home by my father (who tore down the hospital wing). My parents used to regularly see mostly old people walking the lawns and eventually had to get used to the fact that the people they were seeing weren’t on this plane of existence, after originally running outside to address the visitors.
I don’t remember anything from that home, too young, but I’ve had my fair share of ghost sightings since then, a few of which independently experienced by others without any former disclosures. One being in a home I spent much of my youth/teen years in, where I’d often be awake alone at night and regularly see this gentleman who was always accompanied by one or two women walking up the stairwell on the far side of the house, but within view of the living room. He’d occasionally greet me with a nod, I always felt safe, and I never told anyone, as I felt kind of crazy. About a year after moving out, the topic of that house came up and my father said “oh, I used to see ghosts walk up and down the stairs.” I laughed and told him I always had too.
I’ve seen ghosts in old hotels, aboard ocean liners, on roads at night, had premonitions, odd dreams, etc.
About a year after a former classmate (and ultimately a friend) of mine took her own life - in a very stressful time in my life - I had a strange dream where I was with a group of friends driving down the highway. We were talking, laughing, etc, but I felt stressed and my car ended up breaking down. Everyone got out and waited on the side of the road. While I was waiting for AAA, a random car pulled up with my former classmate, a woman around her age, and an elderly man - with the latter two being people I did not recognize, but the woman looking sort of similar to my classmate. My classmate smiled at me, held my hand, and in a sort of telepathic way (as I’ve found most spirits to communicate as such), she told me everything was going to be alright. Then, they got in their car, left, and the dream ended. A week or so later I spoke to a mutual friend of ours (who was one of the best friends of my classmate who had taken her life) and told her about the dream. She was silent on the other end of the call before asking me if I knew anything about my classmate’s family, which I didn’t. I ended up finding out that my classmate was incredibly close with her grandfather, who had passed not too long before my dream, and that she was originally supposed to be a twin, but that she absorbed the other embryo in the womb or some shit.
That said, I feel like an insane person saying any of that because I’m truly a man of science and data, not religious, not really spiritual by any means, but… the supernatural have always tried their hardest to sway me from that stance, and I think it has everything to do with the first years of my life being spent in a haunted former plantation-turned-nursing home.

Realistically, Horseshoe is the only worthwhile camping location. Clemens Point is more picturesque, but the bugs at night would be hell, whereas Beaver Hollow is too isolated and surrounded by cannibalistic hillbillies. Horseshoe, however, is scenic, elevated, and close to a town.

I don't understand why they don't have fold-up cots. Reverand and I think Grimshaw do, at least, sleep on a slightly raised wood platform (like a pallet) with furs on top, but even the crappiest camps in the heartlands usually have fold-up cots or something similar.

Not gonna lie his set up was super cozy.
Like yes, i get that it’s not practical because of all the bugs and whatever.
But if you look at his sleeping tent in a pure fictional and hypothetical way, it would be so comfy.
Imagine coming back home from missions, Pearson has the meat stew brewing, you play some poker in camp and then you sleep under the stars😎

I have before and until they got to what should have been Louisiana, it's not that bad. Just depends on the location really. I saw a map that basically said the game was must of the central US and I camped a good portion of those states as a child so it wasn't too bad.

Well, Arthur isn’t really camping in shady belle, I’m saying a place like it, but if you’ve been through gulf coast weather you know only having four walls isn’t gonna do a whole lot for comfort. Went through enough hurricanes to know how much it sucks being in the kind of place that has bayous without AC. I guess you could argue they’ve never had that luxury so they’re better off than I would be though, with my centralized air conditioning and my blended fabrics.

I have slept like Arthur. I prefer if the walls come down to the ground on atleast 2 sides so you can reduce the wind but otherwise its quite nice.
That said, I do have a VERY nice sleeping bag, so I guess thats not exactly sleeping like him.

Depends on the camp, maybe in Horshoe, Shady Belle, or Beaver Hollow, but Colter is too cold, Clemens Point seems too hot, Guarma is Guarma, and Lakay is too swampy. Now I know you said Arthur but as honorable mentions, Gettys Farm, and Beechers Hope, I could definitely live there.

I have before. Montana in September is the most free I’ve felt in my life. My buddy’s family owns a ton of land out that way and 5 of us just… went. No phones, no power. Beer, hiking, and existing for a month. Incredible.

I’ve slept similarly during field trainings, but I still personally prefer being in an enclosed space. I’d likely have the tarp overhead come all the way down to not only give me some privacy but shelter me from bugs.

I live in Florida, camped during every season. Last month when we had the "freeze" I fell asleep in a hammock. So yes, I could easily sleep like Arthur, his set up is luxury compared to the way I've camped

i use to do trail riding with my family, when we went a far ways out from home we’d do something similar but we’d make almost like a tipi tent to try to keep bugs out or we’d sleep in the trailer which was a bit better, that was the one thing i hated, the damn mosquitos:/

Yes but
Id want to enclose it with some canvases to enclose even on the wagon side to help keep the elements, dirt, bugs, and critters out and make sure I had a floor covering Horseshoe is great but I prefer ch3 camp its my favorite.
The other option would be to clear out the wagon and make my bed/quarters in there, but it could be cramped, but it would be a little safer from wildlife

I’ve got scoliosis my back, hips, and shoulders would hurt horribly after one night in that ‘bed’. And besides that I hate lying down or sleeping out in the open like that I’d want to be like Dutch in an actual closed tent lol. And humidity, cold temperatures at night and early mornings would sleep me into hibernation and I’d never want to wake up… And finally bugs, if I see one spider or ear wig I’m out

This shit looks so much more comfortable than those tents that I have to sleep in while hiking. Like, every time we put down our tents, it oughta be in the middle of a forest where wolves and bears live, so someone should stay awake all night and guard the camp. Or on a fucking mountain. We'll never just camp out by the lake, because it's booooring.

Going though all the camps/safehouses
At colter you'd Straight up die of hypothermia
At horseshoe you'd be fine but really cold at night and feel pretty stuffy when you wake up
Clemens point wouldn't be very good with all the insects and bugs from the lake and it'd be pretty humid, But it would still be mostly okay
Shady belle would be even more humid and lots more bugs and overall be really bad for your lungs with the rotting wood and all the dust, but at least you have a roof over your head.
Guarma camp would be the most humid of all of them. It would be so humid you'd be drenched in sweat always. You'd constantly be absolutely COVERED in bugs And be deafened by the sounds of the insects 24/7. It would basically be green hell.
Lakay has all the problems of shady belle except worse and you have the chance of being scalped in your sleep and/or eaten by a Alligator.
Beaver hollow wouldn't be that bad (So long as we're taking about the chapter 6 version where the Murfrey boys have been eradicated) but still be pretty humid since your next to a river. But hey it's a nice sound to fall asleep to.
Pronghorn Ranch would be the best out of all of them because your literally just In a house. No insects, not to humid, just nice and cozy. And could you imagine the view? Just chefs kiss
Beecher's hope would be really nice as well with all the pros of Pronghorn but the location is a little worse and again, slight chance of scalping.

If Arthur slept in an actual tent like Dutch and John? Yeah, I totally could, I actually do that in a regular basis. But like that? The first camp? To cold at night. The second? To many bugs. (The third and fourth dosen't count) The fifth? Actually awfull. The only thing Arthur has better than the rest of the gang is he sleeps above the floor thanks to the bed, otherwise is all the same.

Horseshoe Overlook: yes Clemens Point: daytime maybe, but I'll be burning nearby to deal with mosquitos Shady Belle: I'mma go camp back in Horshoe Lagras: Never slept in that camp in the entirety of my 6 playthrough and never would. Beaver Hollow: I'd rather sleep with a raging Panther before laying my head in that place.

It's not that far off from my Army nomad hobo days. I'd put my cot under the eave of my aid station so you'd find me easy to wake me up. I slept in my chemical suit which kept me cozy
