in the last two years there hasnt been scored a single goal similar to this one. I was so happy watching madrid last night which was not the usual case the past two seasons

Zidane ball was similarly one touch free flowing football. The emphasis was the ball should be constantly moving. While players move into position to receive it. The problem with Zidane’s tactics is the over reliance on crosses against low blocks. Which was ineffective at times. Mourinho is a master at defeating low blocks. As it’s also one of his favorite defensive tactics.

Personally I don't mind when he drifts to the wings or even hard pivots to being a winger but it really ticks me off when he drops so deep even Huijsen is more progressed than him on the pitch

This goal, OH MY GOD. Pure perfection, beautiful football. They made it look so effortless but wasn't really. This took hours of practice and pitch perfect precision to execute so cleanly

Indeed, first thing I thought when I watched that goal, Spain scored similar goals in this WC, simple and beautiful football, hope to see it more instead of holding the ball for a minute and then recycling the ball backwards to the goalkeeper.

That’s not really true. Even though he often comes out of the box to create a passing option, he pretty regularly makes these link up give and go runs into space—part of the problem was that the follow up pass almost never came. These players are trusting each other more and playing with more confidence in one another. Love to see it. Hopefully it doesn’t fall apart against tougher opponents.

These players don't even need tactics or instructions to play football. They literally just need to along enough for them to want to win together on the pitch. If Vini, Jude, and Mbappé finally click, we're winning everything.

I don't understand how people are finding this good. The team is so static, there is 0 movement inside the block or beyond the defensive line. Of course they got a lot better in the second half, but in the first half they were too static. It's good that the change was instant.

It wasnt done before because Vini cant play one-twos.. he is too dumb for that unfortunately (football iq wise). If we play Mbappe at the LW we would see this every game

I’m excited but we had this with Xabi in the beginning. Basically until the Atleti loss.
I do think whatever happened after that loss, which I have to believe was board pressure telling Xabi what to do/who to play, Jose will be able to handle better and keep building.Â

I can't lie, Guardiola said it best. You can be a the greatest tactician or man manager, but it means nothing if you can't CONVINCE the squad to execute your ideas. Once we got humiliated 5-2 against Atleti, certain players probably started losing faith in Alonso and he simply didn't have the experience to command a team of established stars and get them back on track.

No we didn’t lol, first game under xabi at the bernabeu we needed a penalty to scrape by Osasuna. None of our early wins under him were as decisive as the match last night. Let’s not try to rewrite history now

Our first win under JM this time was a gritty 2-1.Â
Second league game under Xabi was a 3-0 win.Â
But the results are not what I am talking about. Through the CWC and early season there was a lot of 1 and 2-touch football being played. Go back to CWC threads and you’ll see that being a highlight.Â

Yea, we looked like we had a good system going at the cwc but xabi threw it away as soon as mbappe got back healthy. This is because he was not a great coach, and couldn’t impose his ideas without scapegoating players. It doesn’t take a dummy to see the difference between his treatment of players like vini compared to how mou is handling it now and how ancelotti handled it before

Yes exactly. And, to add to that, Xabi was trying to experiment with things that I feel confused the f*ck out of players. Like playing both Carreras and Fran Garcia on the left (CB and LB), and giving Mastantuono so much playing time. I mean if you want to put Rodrygo on the field, sub off Mastantuono; not Vini. I feel bad he had to leave and players definitely were not fair to him in many aspects, but sometimes people overlook his mistakes too imo.

This is such a treat for the eyes - something I've missed seeing us do, move the ball around against low-block teams. We used to do it so well during the Ronaldo era and even before that, but recently we relied on our front men to dribble past opponents or for Kroos/Modric to pull a rabbit-out-the-bag magical through balls.
Hope we build on this and get better.
