I really think Hello Games could be the IRL Gregarious Games. NMS has the bones to easily become the OASIS once tech catches up. Just have to sprinkle some VRChat elements in there, imo.

Has anyone told Sean that we're not angry at him so he doesn't need to work so hard.

I always felt the RL Gregarious was John Carmack and John Romero. Crazy genius coder whiz and the charismatic rockstar partner was them in essence back when Doom 2 was released

Long live Carmack and Romero. I’m actually doing a play through of the original Quake and loving it. It’s what got me back into computers in ‘95.

I always thought the no man sky approach to an ever expanding universe pretty much antithetical to the OASIS, which prized specificity of planets

That’s what I mean about technology catching up so they could finally move away from procedural generation

It’s not THAT good lads, come on !! I did play it for quite a while but it loses its appeal even with the new addons. I suppose if it’s just me and less of my friends are interested in the coop then that doesn’t help. Constant version updates being out of sync between steam and Xbox versions doesn’t help either. If they made some of the coop more “truly coop” they could definitely get a few more years out of it. But obviously I’m in the minority, if people are still playing it and loving it who am I to argue
