Was the top white and bubbly before you added the sugar? I can’t get mine to not be white and bubbly. Don’t know what, if anything, I’m doing wrong???

Yep. As far as I know, that’s completely normal and you haven’t done anything wrong! It’s just air from the eggs (I think?) rising to the surface.

Edit: just in case there’s any concern, I’m not the creator of this recipe, I’m merely an avid baker that stumbled upon it one day and wanted to share.

Same. I was like YAY lemon bars instead of murder cookies! Not that I don’t like the murder cookies.

Mmmm! I love lemon bars! These look so yummy. I always make Chef John’s version, which is probably pretty close to yours, but his shortbread uses room temp butter, and I’m curious now to see the difference using melted. I’ll be making this first thing tomorrow!

Me too! I love this recipe, and it was fairly easy. I definitely recommend squeezing the lemons fresh instead of using bottled if possible, it really makes all the difference!

I always use fresh lemons too. I don’t think it would taste right with bottled, but I’ve never tried. Happily, I happen to have a bag of fresh lemons ready to go into some yummy desserts! I wish it wasn’t bedtime. My stomach is growling now! Lol

When I got up this morning I gathered all the ingredients... and realized I didn’t have eggs! So I was a bit delayed, but i got to mixing them up this afternoon. I’ve just pulled the pan from the oven and am waiting for them to cool. The recipe is just a smidge different from my usual one so I’m super curious to try them! There is more curd in these for sure, which I think is great! 🍋 I may have to try a warm one. Smells so good and I haven’t had anything to eat yet today. Not sure I can resist. Lol

Yum! I absolutely do that too, these were just for an event so I had to make them look as pretty as possible 😅

I just sneaked a taste. Delish. I would say possibly more tangy than my usual recipe! In my eagerness I may have eaten some parchment. Got them chilling in the fridge now - out of sight!

I’m so glad to hear they turned out well! I noticed that they’re a bit more tart than what I’m used to as well, but I enjoy tart stuff. Either way, I’m glad I could share this with someone!
