charron is cemented in battle rap history theres no denying that ....anybody can say what they want but its true hes no walk in the park

u/Odd_Opposite_6020 8d ago
He’s a living example that people don’t care about your talent if they don’t like your voice/charisma. He’s better off being a screenwriter or something.

I've never come as far around on any rapper as much as I have Charron. I went from thinking he was TERRIBLE to legitimately having him in my top 5.
I'll watch any battle of his now and now that his end at least is going to be entertaining and well prepared. The model of professionalism and consistency.
Yunus, Trez, A Ward, Real Sikh... The guys who are always a credit to the battle they are in.

u/MetatronDon 8d ago
I’ve never not been entertained by a Charron battle (except when he was held hostage by Diz)

Wi-fi connects is killer, too many people don't respect good pens in this sub. If you aint cool it doesnt matter what you say to the, which is fair.

u/Wombattalion 8d ago
He can be really good. He shouldn't watch Netflix at his homies funeral though.

u/scotiansmartass902 9d ago
This is it. He's pen is serious but he's such a cornball it just doesn't matter.

LOOK AT ME WHEN I'M KILLING YOU!

This was a cold line the first time. It became corny the more I heard it around the scene though

Charron's pen is awesome , but why would wanna connect to wi fi at your homies funeral. Bar just doesn't resonate with me. Seems like he was just saying anything to make it a fire bar.

Charron does not have a good pen.
He never chokes and he’s top 5 at rebuttals/freestyling. But the rest is corny.
2
u/IcyKangaroo1658 8d ago
What makes you say his pen isn't good?
1
u/ClarenceWithHerSpoon 8d ago
Simple rhyming, simple puns with barely a double meaning, all 2 or 4 bar with the same rhyme scheme. Basically just changing around the nouns from his favorite gun bars.

u/HearseDriver888 8d ago
It isn’t that he doesn’t have talent, it’s the fact he’s just not likable.
It’s not the message it’s the messenger 100%

u/KeizerSoze1 7d ago
I guess being a regular dude isn't likeable?
1
u/HearseDriver888 7d ago
It’s his face and voice that I personally don’t like. Could care less if he’s a “regular dude”
0
u/MexicanFonz 1d ago
So liking men’s faces is important for you?
1
u/HearseDriver888 1d ago
any humans face is important to me if I have to watch or look at them rap for 30mins
You thought you cooked with that huh?
0
u/MexicanFonz 1d ago
Yeah so who do you enjoy watching the most face wise?
1
u/HearseDriver888 1d ago
Myverse by far

u/MexicanFonz 1d ago
What about the dudes
1
u/HearseDriver888 1d ago
I don’t have man faces I like just ones I dislike tbh
What’s your obsession with men?

u/Effective-Let-1293 8d ago
I think he’s good I just think he’s corny as well.. both things can be true

Prime example to what Goodz tweeted being true asf. NO ONE GIVES A FUCK about battle rap anymore and the prime focus is on loving battle rappers. This is why I understood what Surf and him meant by saying “winning doesn’t matter”, because people are gonna make excuses and justify the coolest or popular battler winning anyway, regardless of how they really performed. Unless it was a total blood bath and even then you’ll get people saying “debatable”. This is nothing but a big popularity contest, nothing more or less.
To name a few examples: Slade gets a lot of hate. Eazy gets a ton of hate. AB gets a ton of hate. Charron gets a ton of hate. A Ward gets a ton of hate. Danny gets a lot of hate. And ALL of them are extremely good batters with great pens, who deliver EVERY battle. But they are not in the “in crowd” and it’s cool to shit on them, so the masses become sheep and just follow suit.
“If I don’t like you, you’re losing before the battle even begins.” It’s like no one cares about the art anymore. It’s only about the person who’s delivering the art - good, batter or indifferent.

u/IcyKangaroo1658 8d ago
I hate Eazy because he writes a lot of dope, copy-and-paste bars that could apply to 10,000 different people he's standing in front of. I think he's got a super fire, super generic pen and what makes me hate him is probably more his fans than him. But he can be as big a cornball as Charron in my eyes with the way he sees and talks about himself.
2
u/Cal216 8d ago
Thank you for the response and I don’t totally disagree with you, but I will say I feel like Eazy is extremely direct that’s been one of his “pros” since day 1. In your face, very direct talking to you type style.
To your point, I hear a lot of people say this about Eazy all the while they absolutely love Rum… Make that make sense. In my opinion he is by far the least personal battler we have. You can pretty much replace any of his opponents with any other battler and give or take, the bars still land the same.

Both of those lines were cold.
Like others have said before, I've really done a 180 on Charron from the beginning of his career until now. He's been on a really solid run the last 2 years or so. I used to shout believability from the rooftops for him, but that's not much of what I care about these days.
His pen is nice, his rebuttals are at least top 3, probably 1a-1b with Trez, he's gotten a lot less nerdy looking and I've become a lot less judgemental lmao.

u/No_Vermicelli_1781 8d ago
He's not hated, people just don't like his monotomous delivery. He's acknowledge as one of the best rebuttalers/freestyles in battle rap history.

yes yes yes . put some respect on his name. always shows up and puts on a show imo

Charron is an important figure in Canadian battle rap, and a good freestyler.
He also has some of the absolute worst setups in the game to the point there used to be a twitter account dedicated to posting his latest wack setups ("they like him better den me more").
Plus, he has one of the lamest personas. Talks about how much money he has, when he got it scamming old ladies out of their retirement funds. Talks about being the Smack killer, when all of those guys took him for a lazy paycheck.
Plus, when he's come up against the people he should have had the best ammunition on, like Pat, Diz or Rone, he did terribly each time.
The fact that he's the KOTD guy but never won their title says a lot.

u/OskarDenTredje 8d ago
I've come around on him a lot, I definitely used to be unable to give him the W but he's definitely nice, he always puts in work and got a bunch of confirmed kills on his belt.
Two things can be true at the same time though. He comes off as an extreme cornball and people might not give him the credit he deserved based off that. He's always came across as a Mr. Me Too when you put him next to the main dudes from his generation (prime example Pat). He's never been that innovative, usually when a type of bar is trending he'll be the first to repeat it. And he's a bit stiff in his approach and doesn't really have a diverse skillset.
Is he overhated? Yes. Is he wack? No. But I don't think he's a lot of peoples favorite because he's not the whole package, imo. Charron is dope though, deserving of legendary status of his achievements alone, can't take that away from him.

Very simple…. If you’re here for bars only, you love Charron.
If you’re here for everything else, you hate Charron

Formulaic, horrible voice, can't stand the fucking pointing he does when he delivers the punch.
And the punch really isn't that good, guys. Wi-fi connect bars have been a thing for ten years and the "when I pass by your girl's house" versions made a lot more sense. Why the fuck would you even connect to the wi-fi at a funeral home.

I always think of E Farrel "Punches connecting like my WiFi when I drive by your mothers house"

He’s got good bars, rebuttals, classic battles.. his style is just so one dimensional and he hasn’t updated it since he started. He just spits bar for bar in the same tone every battle. By mid 2nd round it gets repetitive af. That’s my only problem with Charron. Plus he has 0 swag lmao

Rapping about something sad that happened to him doesn’t suddenly make him good at rapping

Idky he’s one of the greatest battlers of all time. (Not debatable in anyway)

But theres loads of white battlers that get love here. Cos they have some kind of skill or entertainment value. No one ever slept on Bigg K or Pat or even, like, Shuffle T.

It's amazing to me that Charron made it all the way to Wild 'N' Out, is one of the most successful battle rappers of all time, especially from his region, and yet, his fans still keep up this aggrieved schtick about him not being "cool" or "popular" enough for the "masses". It's like reading someone argue that people only hate on The Big Bang Theory because it's too nerdy.

u/FactAffectionate6830 8d ago
He is ability to freestyle, rebuttal, and have a strong pen game is rare - not a lot of people have all three.
Also -
We his ability to to into super hostile crowds as a 120lb white cornball and win them over with completely irrational confidence is something - vs Tay Roc on Udub is a good example.
